"The game won´t launch due to problems with the configuration. Please reinstall your game and try again"

Bah... spent alot of money and this is the message I recieve when I try to play the game.....

Why does this happen everytime we buy new games?

There´s always problems with something.....

Any solutions?

Idea for Biowares next game:

Under game requirements, you guys should write:

User needs to be a brainsurgeon to activate the game....

I trusty reboot appears to have fixed my issue (the game install process hadnt asked for one).

Had that failed (which, tbh, i thought it would), I was going to download DirectX from the Microsoft and reinstall.

You could try reinstalling DirectX from the game CD (ig you have one) or visiting MS and downloading it from them.

Does this patch address the dagger bug / dex. stat oversight?

I wish I had checked here before I downloaded and installed the 1.01a patch as well. The release version worked fine, once I upgraded to the patched version I cannot get the game to start even though the game launcher works fine.

Please read Patched and now game wont load.. for fix to Dragon Age not starting after 1.01a patch. I wish someone would 'sticky' the solution.

There is solution only for vista users, didnt found anyone experiencing XP who would fix that

Happened to me too, 1.0 started, 1.01 doesn't get past the launcher splashscreen - clicking play goes nowhere

Then clearly you haven't been reading the thread, where multiple XP users say the redistributable fixed their problem. So no, it's not only for Vista users. Please don't spread misinformation.

Don't get your drawers all in a knot if you know all this, but you never mentioned anything at all about your OS, your PC, etc.

Preliminary diagnostic information

PCs are not *anything* at all like game console systems.  There is almost nothing that is truly "standard" between various branded PCs, making the game developers' jobs very difficult, and resulting in warning labels attached to game boxes for those games that have serious requirements.

In case you have misunderstood how to evaluate your PC compared to that game box label, we have to start from here.  Fill it all in.

The vcredist didn't help me with this problem on XP Pro SP3, DAO standard DVD edition. Tried all posted solutions thus far over four uninstall/reinstalls, only way I can play is simply by not applying the 1.01 patch :(

Have you checked your profile>your registered game promotions?

Is all the DLC listed there?  If not then are your sure you didn't have them on another account here?  The site has been pretty flaky and I've seen a number of people with similar issues.

Thanks for the quick response ! I checked and yes the DLC are listed there . But , when I start the game and click load it complains that I do not have the bonus's and says I can do a force load . It does not reconize the fact that I have them . When I uninstalled I clicked keep all saves

etc .

From elsewhere I saw a suggestion that might help u - try right clicking the daorigins.exe, going to the compatibility tab and checking the 'run this program as administrator' box, then restarting the game.

Like I said..... Brain surgeon. And don´t get your drawers all in a not because not all of us is as sofisticated as you with computers  m8...... I don´t know all that much about computers but when I buy a pretty expensive game I really believe that it should work without me having to wait for fixes..... But hey... that´s just me.
