I love Miranda and she was my favorite romance interest. The forums' opinion seem to be different than what occurs when I meet actual people who play this game. Generally spearking, plently of people like Tali on the forums, but the people I actually meet likes Miranda. I find that interesting. By the way, I thought Tali's romance was garbage. I like Tali just not as a romance interest.
Not understanding the Miranda hate....

Please... all the alien romances were fan service. At least they explained how anyone could 'be' with an Asari. But.. what in-game rationale allows humans and turians or turians and quarians to be attracted to each other (more than just intellectually). No hormores, pheromones, etc.Darht Jayder wrote...

I mean, I love Tali as much as the next player, but she's got claws for hands and feet. Look at the geth.. they were modeled on the Quarians.

I agree fully. The only supportable one in my books is Asari. Nuff said.Jeremy Winston wrote...

And so i expect some empathy from Miranda for Subject Zero.Especially after the loaylity mission.Does that happen? No.The opposite was the case.Darht Jayder wrote...
Maybe not comparable abuse....but abuse nontheless. Everyone suffers and deals with abuse in different ways. But you can't honestly say that she wasn't abused.
And how people understand her arrogant reaction when shepardt choose garrus as the fireteam leader?

She admits it was a mistake when talking to Shepard. Truth is though....both characters antagonize each other and push each others buttons.tonnactus wrote...

Its not comparable because of the different degree. Its funny that people even argue about that.jtav wrote...
Thank you. The nature and severity of the abuse is not relevent to a person/character's status as an abuse survivor.

She had to do it when speaking with Subject Zero and didnt let escalate the situation. That i would expect from an intelligent second in command. That shepardt even has to intervene was a joke.Darht Jayder wrote...

I do not play as a FemShep, but I saw her romance interests on youtube. Oh boy! I feel sorry for you FemShep players. For example, when I saw the Garrus romance on youtube, I was like WTF?

In real life...not everyone acts appropriately all the time. It makes sense that these two would but heads and not maintain professionalism sometimes. If Miranda responded in a perfectly level headed manner it would make her seem less human.tonnactus wrote...

And, once again, the difference in degree has nothing to do with whether someone was abused. Jack was physically, psychologically, and sexually abused. Miranda was psychologically abused. Both have equal claim to the status of abuse survivor because both were abused.

Also, she does show cracks in her relationship with Cerberus throughoutt he game. her finally telling TIM to kiss off at the end, was 100% logical.
And, oh, she does have sympathy for Jack; but some of the sympathy is muted because jack is such a **** who is scummy evil and enjoys causing pain to others just to make her feel better.
btw, Having a bad childhood doesn't excuse commitinjg evil deeds. Like a character on one of my fave tv shows said recently,"Pretty much everyone in prison has some sort of woe as me childhood tale."
As we also know that musot spousal/child abusers were abused or witnesses of abuse when they were children. That doesn't excuse their behaviour or allow them to behave badly.
Anyways, back to Miranda, she good people. Unlike the evil maschoistic Jack.
Jack whines about being a product of experiment but guess what? So is Miranda. She doesn't even have a real mother.

She was genetically designed to be perfect, born into a life of wealth and power, given everything she ever wanted including the best training and education money could buy.
Is there some where we can go to sign up for that kind of "psychological abuse"?

Miranda is awesome. One of BIO's best npcs. And, no, she enevr comes a cross as an 'ice queen'. She's simply very serious about her job. In fact, she's pretty friendly though all business at the beginning which is the way it should be.

"The IM told us that you're in command" - OK
"Shepard you take point." - STFU, that's my decision to make.
"Take the Quarian and call for pickup" - STFU, that's my decision to make.
"Jack, I'm second in command to Shepard..." - STFU, that's my decision to make.
"Shepard I'm impressed, you really seem to know what you're doing." - STFU, I took out the Thorian, Saren, Sovereign, saved/killed off the Rachni, destroyed the base on Virmire, killed off a crapload of Geth, Mercs and Cerberus goons and much more. What the hell have you done that would compare favorably to any of that?
"The Illusive Man wouldn't intentionally send us into a trap." - STFU, you're wrong and that's exactly what he did do.
"I'll lead the second team..." STFU, that's my decision to make.
"I could do it. Any biotic could." - STFU, you're absolutely wrong again and I'm sick of the constant interference.
"Well we've done good so far. EDI what's our next move?" - STFU!!!!
And so on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. I don't know if it was an intentional attempt by the Bioware writers to alienate some people or just a basic misunderstanding of military discipline and chain of command. The end result for me was that I didn't want her on my team. I went to great lengths to kill her off and dead she'll remain on any of my ME3 imports. On a character or personal level I didn't care to talk to her and generally skip her loyalty mission. Good riddance to bad character.

She's a toxic asset. My canon Shep is all about the mission. He doesn't fraternize, no romance and totally focused on getting the job done. Miranda is a constant irritant in that she believes that she is fully capable of stepping into my role when it's clear that she isn't.

I can kind of see your point here.....but there is no military chain of command....they all work for Cerberus...including Shepard.

I figured she'd be cocky, arrogant when I spoke to her on the SR2 but I liked how she was anything but and hated herself for being created to be perfect
Once she explained about her sister, my femshep couldn't get to Ilium fast enough- really sucked I couldn't take the fight to Mr. Lawson personally
When the suicide run came, I was oddly touched tha Miri saluted my Femshep
I trusted her to lead one of the fireteams, and together we got everyone and crew out
Really like the random dialgue when NPC's are like don't worry lawson and shepard are on the case!
