I imagine that my HN is about 20, with Fergus not being much older than her. 25 to 30. I think that her not at least having a betrothed at her age is odd, and I imagine that Fergus got married at a pretty young age. It's not unlikely that he married Oriana at 18-19, Oriana got pregnant not long after that and they had Oren before they turned 21. I'd say Oren is about 6, so if you assume Fergus was 18 when he married Oriana and they were 20 when they had Oren, that would make him 26. But I'd say it is more like 28.

I say that because Bryce and Eleanor would have been about 20 when they had Fergus, and I really don't think they are much over 40 if Bryce would eagerly go to war.

But that's how it is for my story, I think they leave ages ambiguous for a reason.

Thank you, Sylvanaerie. That's my bestest girl ever. My amazon. HNF DW warrior, for the win :)

And she's 26. There. Thread back on topic.

Bryce is most certainly 50+ considering he helped Maric and Loghain kick the orelsians out of Ferelden which was only 30 years ago

Huh, I completely forgot about that. Is Eleanor the same age as him? I know she was old enough to learn how to fight when the Orlesians were around, so I don't think she's much younger.

I dunno, I always play my characters young and I don't anticipate Fergus being much older than HN, so in my story, he's around 28. But I've been wrong before, so it would be such a surprise if I was wrong again :P

well in my HN's Fergus is 29/30(I see him being born just after the war ends) and my HNM as 28 and as for them calling you pup, girl, boy those can be seen as terms of affection not age I mean my mom still calls my 39 and 42 year old sisters her girls and she will call me junior till the day she dies

but I like that they left the players age up to you though some are certanly older than others

You're not wrong in playing your characters the way you see them, Kryyptehk. People (Bryce, Eleanor) can have children late in life, and there are valid explanations.

Therefore, I'm also not wrong in playing my girls at an older age. I just have Bryce and Eleanor have their kids earlier. But yes, they have to be in the low to mid fifties at least for the rebellion story to make sense.

Yeah, having both an older character and younger character both make sense to me. I think HN gives you the most flexibility when it comes to age.

Id say Dwarf Noble is up there in flexibility as well (in terms of how old you can go any ways)

your older brother looks like hes getting on in age and Bhelen is suppossed to be pretty damn young himself (he was still considered a child just 2 years before you go to Orzammar in game)

If you strip away the ages from the toolset and then look at them from youngest to oldest

Dog
Player
Zevran
Leliana
Morrigan
Sten
Alistair
Oghren
Loghain
Wynne
Shale

I only have a problem with Zevran's, Sten's, and Alistair's placement. I've always seen Sten and Oghren to be around the same age, I'd say around their early 40s. Zevran, for me, seems to be in his mid 30s. As for Alistair, despite what is known about him, I would say his late 20s.

Dog - 4
Player - 25
Leliana - 26
Morrigan - 28
Alistair - 28
Zevran - 36
Sten - 43
Oghren  - 44
Loghain - 46
Wynne - 60
Shale - 800

This is how I depict their ages, despite the information that is given to us.:wizard:

Yeah. I've just seen his character video. Needless to say, I no longer think Alistair is Fiona's son....

It sounds like he's voiced by Steve Valentine, too. Or someone doing a pretty good impersonation.

I don't think Alistair seems 32, obviously, but he has too many fine lines around his eyes to be 19-21 either. I think of him as being mid- to late twenties, I guess.

Would make sense with him being under 23 at the latest, the way he acts gives it away..

I can't imagine him being 32, maybe his concept art gives him that image I think they used that look for the trailer warden sorta
But my PC's usually don't look over 21...or even 18.... O_o

I can imagine the commoner Dwarf around 19 due to the older sister.
I would say the Noble Dwarf has to be the oldest of the origins....

I would think of him as mid- to late twenties too, if it weren't for the fact that he hadn't taken his templar vows yet. He wasn't conscripted until 6 months before the start of the game. I'm pretty sure they don't wait long to make their templars take their vows. That's why I think 25 at the oldest.

About the lines thing, that is the oddest things about this game to me. Wynne seems to have just as many lines as Leliana does (except around her lips, where she has a few more). Now, I refuse to believe that Leliana is older than 35, and 35 is stretching it. Wynne just does not look old to me. Heck, she looks younger than your parents in HN origin.

So I hesitate to use they're face when I judge their ages too much.

32 sounds about right to me. I have read in other posts that he is only supposed to be 19. His voice is much too deep to be that of a 19 year old and his face is much more mature looking than a 19 year old.

Really? I know plenty of guys with perfectly low voices who are around 20, and whose faces look perfectly adult. And there's very much evidence that Alistair is at most early 20s.
-He hadn't yet finished his templar training when he was conscripted ~6 months prior to the story
-He's several years younger than Cailan, who was mid- to late-twenties
-And his immaturity is clearly meant as youthful (I realize 30-year-olds can be immature, but I'd seriously hate to meet a 30-year-old who still acts like Alistair)

I agree completely, Nonvita; I have a hard time believing Alistair is 32 with his unfinished templar training and what not. His appearance and voice shouldn't make a difference in determining his age because there are fairly young guys out there with mature adult faces and deep voices. Also the fact, Alistair is naive and silly leads me to understand that he could be in his early twenties. I just don't see him as a "32-year-old." He might have been in an earlier concept of the game but they changed him to be younger -- the 32 in the toolset just stuck because they didn't remove it? All in all, Alistair has to be in his early 20s. It just makes sense with the story.

Obviously I don't know more than anyone else about this, but I have a hard time believing Anders is Fiona's son... If he were then he'd be younger than Alistair, and to me there's no way Anders looks 20...
*will probably be proven wrong by Awakenings...*

(And he's not voiced by Steve Valentine.)

Anders is voiced by Greg Ellis, who has voiced a lot of characters in DA:O vanilla game and The Stone Prisoner: Cullen, Patter Gritch, the Ash Warrior Leader, Taoran Hawkwind, the maleficar leader for a Mages Collective sidequest, and assorted other voices  in vanilla DA:O, Felix de Grosbois and Matthias in the Stone Prisoner.  As I said in another thread, BioWare must really like him, because they sure have given him a lot of work!
