I'm well into my third playthrough of ME2 now, and my first on Insanity.

According to my own experience, and the Mass Effect Wiki, the first Collector Ship mission is supposed to trigger after recruiting two squadmates from the second lot of dossiers (i.e. Tali, Thane and Samara). I recruited Tali, then Thane, and was bemused to find that the Illusive Man did not interrupt me when I returned to the galaxy map.

Nevertheless, I carried on and recruited Samara, and find I can still use the galaxy map with no Illusive Man. The loyalty missions appear to work fine, but of course there's little point in doing them if the plot won't advance any further. As I didn't immediately suspect a bug, I have no save file before beginning Samara's mission, so I am unable to tell if it's repeatable.

A quick Google turned up no reports of similar problems and I find myself face with the choice of soldiering on with the loyalty missions in the vain hope of it sorting itself out, or biting the bullet and restarting.

Does anybody know of similar problems, and whether the main plot is recoverable?

Either I just jumped to a silly conclusion, or any problem sorted itself out. I completed one further loyalty mission (Jack's) and got the Illusive Man's briefing.



I didn't think you had to do any loyalty missions to progress (that said, I had already done Zaeed's and Miranda's), but it seems I may have been wrong.
