Hello, I decided to write this thread because I feel so pissed off by BioWare statement about FemShepard and MaleShepard. I'm heterosexual girl and I can understand when game does not include homosexual romances but I totally can't understand it, when game includes lesbian romances but does not include gay romances.

So BioWare please tell me one good reason why you doing that.  Just please don't tell me "Shepard is a pre-defined characte" because it's make no sense when I even can choose his sex and as FemShepard I can shoose her sexual orientation. I can't understand why the hell i can't choose sexual orientation of male Shepard when i can choose sexual orientation of female Shepard? I just want to know that, because that is one of very few things I totally can't understand.

For me as a heterosexual girl, "boy-to-boy action" is far more acceptable and pleasant to the eye than "girl-on-girl", what is saying simple, disgusting for me. And by this reason I feel totaly ignoring by BioWare, same as many girl gamers, according to posts here and on other forums. As I said, it's not a problem when game does not include same sex romances but if game includes lesbian romances but does not include gay romance, it's  just ignoring of girls(and other ppls but they said it in another threads) and it's shows you only worried about boys, and not this normal boys but that adolescent jerks, too worried about their sexuality to see two boys making out.

Your games(ME and ME2) are often refered as candidates to best games ever so please make it perfect in all ways. The one of main adventago os MEs is that you can direct your character anyway you want, but unfortunately, this applies only to female character. I just simply wondering why there is a range on sexualities possible for a female character, a male character can be only heterosexual. I just can't understand this, so please BioWare make it clear why you did it and, what is more important fix it and let us, girls enjoy the full adventages of this game too!

I can understand your currently policy if it's be thing than only few ppls want but after so much popular threads here(and on other sites too) and hundreds of ppls supporting it your policy of ignoring us and closing thread is just dissapointing. Bit like unintelligible restrictions restrictions in MEs after perfect Dragon Age where you don't discriminating girls. I think for such a big company policy like this is really unsuitable so please read this thread  and finally satisfy us!

To ppls reading this thread i just want say - i know there was been many threads like this before but none of them present the matter like this. And i know it's looks like it's be supossed to be letter to BioWare, not thread but support of ppls are important and since last thread were deleted we don't have thread like this(or i've missed it?sorry if someone else made thread like this) so I post it here, also for more ppls can read what I and most girl(according to girl's posts in much sites and my friends). And trolls please keep out, if you are too much worried about your sexuality to see two guys making out just don't do it, like in RL where you can do it but you don't doin, right? You have your lesbians so let us fight for same adventages too, pretty please, i don't wan Stanley Woo to have next pretext to close our thread and ignore us...  It's all what I've have to say, I think, so cya, i hope for support.

I thought it was obvious why Bioware/EA decided not to have any Male on male romance. Their main demographic are males of an age probably from teens to 30. They don't want people to be put off from buying a game due to male-male themes which still aren't completely accepted by society. It's just a business decision.

Hey, your allowed to chose the sexual orientation of your male shepherd, their just happen to be no gay guys on the Normandy. tough luck :(

"your policy of ignoring us and closing thread is just dissapointing"

This is just untrue.     Show me one thread where it was closed, for a reason other then reaching the post cap (mods will close down threads that are too big, and encourage reposting, because it makes searches slower).

In my opinio...

BIOWARE has to have a developer that is lebian.

PROOF: no malxmale relationships while ME1 has Liara as an option for FEMsheps. ME2 has kelly as a distraction... also available for FEMsheps.

Theres something fisy going on here.

I support your viewpoint Miss Sylwia...I'm gay and I don't want to see two girls getting it on, I want man on man action. But Bioware has been pretty sexist and homophobic regarding this issue for some reason. FemShep isn't even ''canon'' supposedly so all the girls playing femshep are just playing for nothing. Anyway, nice thread

/hats off to you

Nothing in ME2 is canon outside of the codex and 'major' events, so that's really a null point.

I can completely understand where you are coming from and I can understand anyone wanting (more) gay romances in games... Personally I am not too bothered as a heterosexual guy... That said I do think it is bad from BioWare to 'remove' these options.

Yes, remove. They initially planned to add homosexual romances - if the rumors are true - namely Thane and Tali respectively. That said they also had homosexual relationships in Dragon Age: Origins and the time between that and Mass Effect 2 hasn't been that long.

It is likely that this is mainly due to EA's oversight, lack of time or even a fear of the public's opinion. If it is the latter it is rather weak... They also dismissed the claim that Asari and female Shepard is a lesbian relationship... Which would suggest that they indeed do not like the public to think that they have homosexual relationships in Mass Effect...

Then there is also the part where the audience, and I suppose this is more the case among the youngsters... ironically I am one, could dismiss Shepard (male) as being a true hero if he is homosexual. Hear me out on this one... homosexuality is not generally considered heroic and I can bet that a lot of people do not like the imagine of a 'gay male Shepard saving the galaxy'. Though I do hope that in this time and age people aren't that bothered by that anymore.

So if I make a work of literature, and their are no gay guys, but two lesbians, I am a homophobe?

Seriously?

Look, I support you petitioning bioware for what you want.    Thats what forums are for.    And I'm not even against it.    What is just outright rediculous is suggesting that Bioware is somehow "wrong" in not including a gay relationship in their game.     To suggest that Bioware is homophobic is outright rediculous.

So If I write a short story, and it's about a love story between a man and a woman, and there doesn't happen to be a M/M romance also featured in the novel, I'm a homophobe?

It has nothing to do with EA. Bioware made the game, not EA developers. Plus, ME1 was the same as ME2 and EA had nothing to do with that one.

What are you talking about?   Are you suggesting Bioware take a random gay guy from club omega and let you have sex with him?   I don't think that would be appropriate.

Hey, if you want to show me someone who is not on the normandy, and can be a potential romance, feel free to add in a name.   The only guys that are even DEVELOPED who are not on the normandy are Anderson and Udina.    Do you think a romance of ANY KIND with them would be appropriate for the tone this game is trying to set.?

I'm not strictly disagreeing with the OP, but in truth you can choose the sexuality of the male Shepard. If he's gay, then obviously he won't get into a romance with any of the female LIs. It's just that the male LIs, being straight, won't be biting either.

Ah, yes, "Homosexuals". We have dismissed that claim.

I merely put it in as a possible option as to why they did so. I am aware that ME1 was the same, and apparently there were no homosexual relationships in there either! Then of course Dragon Age: Origins also had EA's involvement...

But yes, it seems unlikely to me too. That said, I never trust EA. :P

Of course not silly. :P

But for the love of god don't place lesbians in the novel and then say "its a blue skinned chick from space! She doesn't count!!!" <_< And we'll be cool.

But in all honesty, she doesn't count. It's a matter of bioligcal and specie differences. It becomes apparent when you think about why they resemble females, and whether or not you could have the same thing in an "all male" race.

We're talking about an RPG here, not a novel.   BioWare tells us that we can create OUR Shepard however we want.  We CAN chose Shepard's sexuality, but only if our Shepard is female.

BioWare's glaring exlusion of m/m choices in ME games + banning of same-sex romance threads is bordering on homophobic.

YEAH....and what's the deal with no animal romance? I mean there are a lot of people that want to enjoy a perfectly normal love like the love between a man and another man's dog.

She  gives birth. Is referred to as female in the CODEX (which is CANON) is referred to as being similar to the female gender by everyone in the GAME and hell even herself says the suit a FEMALE role! :pinched:

Lays eggs. Way of base with that I was.

I don't support Bioware in doing that, i thought it was a spineless move, but who made you a literary critic?   Frankly, using absurdist notions to explore very real socio-political notions is something thats been done by several celebrated writers throughout the era, a quick example being novels by George Orwell or Franz Kafka.

Yes, especially if your last novel had two lesbians getting it on, and then your next novel has two lesbians and two aliens, but no gay men whatsoever.
