I think your Liara notions are a little off, because there is no need to reject her at all if you take neutral/renegade options with her or simply do not make the effort to talk to her extra.... she may have feelings for you, but since when in life (or in games) must there be anything on the part of the other party to make those feelings manifest?



When I was a young girl (much like Liara in ME1, only 103 then) I was totally "in love" with a guy who was at best a friend of a friend - in other words he was nice to me when I was around, but never went out of his way to talk or get to know me. He never said or did anything to suggest that he was interested in me (ironically he did turn out to be gay a few years later, but I digress LOL) but that didn't change how I felt towards him.



Liara may have very strong feelings for Shepard, but just because she does so doesn't in any way reflect upon Shepard's feelings for her.

Second, as far as lore goes and as far as the developers will say (which i totally agree with); LIARA is  NOT FEMALE. she is an ASEXUAL being that can reproduce with any sentient being.

I was playing Crysis recently and I know this is slightly different but I want to know why they just didn't let us choose the sex of our Yeomen just like you can choose the sex of the voice of your suit in Crysis.

Let me give you some fun facts.

In order for a thing to be "sexual" in any way shape or form, it needs to reproduce through sex.     Liara reproduces though mindmelding, and using genetic material as a catalyst for mutation in the self fertilizing fetus.    She is Asexual.     She does not engage in sex with either gender to reproduce.    

However, to provide a balanced analysis, femshep is human.    Human engage in sex, and have sexual preferences.   While Liara is neither homosexual or hetereosexual, the act of femshep having a relationship with Liara is homosexual in nature.     Because while liara does not engage in sex, and she reproduces asexually, she in fact, has a sex, female.    

In short, for Liara, its a normal relationship.    For femshep, its a homosexual one.    A femshep who romances liara clearly has homosexual tendencies, but Liara herself is asexual.
