You are so going to get flamed for even comparing 'animal romance' to 'homosexuals'. Really.

The simple fact is that the majority of the gaming establishment is behind the curve on supporting the girl-gamer consumer base. Even the most progressive houses I know of are behind - it will just take time for the reality of growing numbers of girl-gamers to be felt in the design decisions and in the attitudes and mores displayed by both designers and publishers.

In DA:O I enjoyed romancing Alistair, but I have yet to find any character (male or female) that I was interested in doing so. Joker is the closest in MA2 so far of allthe characters I've met.

Kaidan is the biggest closet case I've ever seen. No wonder DADT is still in effect.

Just kidding though. Frankly I'm not even angry about the lack of M/M anymore just disappointed. Oh well. Someone else will do it. <3

Frankly I'm hoping its a JRPG just so I can- oh wait nm they already have.

Well another JRPG then.

For me as a heterosexual girl, "boy-to-boy action" is far more acceptable and pleasant to the eye than "girl-on-girl", what is saying simple, disgusting for me.

WOW. I've never heard that from a girl but I admit I never asked
You understand that men see it exactly the opposite =]

Anyway, I'm heterosexual man and I don't have anything against gay romances in a game. Romances are optional, I'd just not pursue it. But there are people who feel instulted just by the fact that such possibilities exist in games, and there are also great moral defenders who whine just about any exposed body part in games despite PEGI and ESRB mature ratings.

Also I have the feeling that lesbians are less taboo subject then gays and meet far less hostility.

I don't know... Kaidan has me doubting each time I see him prancing around in that pink-white phoenix armor. He seems a little -too- willing to stay with my Shepard.

It's digusting that some of you are suggesting that Bioware is homophobic for not including M/M romances in Mass Effect. DISGUSTING.

I support your viewpoint Miss Sylwia...I'm gay and I don't want to see two girls getting it on, I want man on man action. But Bioware has been pretty sexist and homophobic regarding this issue for some reason. FemShep isn't even ''canon'' supposedly so all the girls playing femshep are just playing for nothing. Anyway, nice thread

/hats off to you

So If I write a short story, and it's about a love story between a man and a woman, and there doesn't happen to be a M/M romance also featured in the novel, I'm a homophobe?

Yes, especially if your last novel had two lesbians getting it on, and then your next novel has two lesbians and two aliens, but no gay men whatsoever.

Novels have fixed characters and stories.  Shepard is not a fixed character.  He or she does not have a fixed gender or a first name, etc...

But for the love of god don't place lesbians in the novel and then say "its a blue skinned chick from space! She doesn't count!!!" <_< And we'll be cool.

But in all honesty, she doesn't count. It's a matter of bioligcal and specie differences. It becomes apparent when you think about why they resemble females, and whether or not you could have the same thing in an "all male" race.

She  gives birth. Is referred to as female in the CODEX (which is CANON) is referred to as being similar to the female gender by everyone in the GAME and hell even herself says the suit a FEMALE role! :pinched:
Lays eggs. Way of base with that I was.

Yes, her biological behavior mimics females. There's a reason why that makes sense, and why you couldn't a male species like that. I'll get more into it a little later. I'm leaving work just now. Feel free to prod me about it to make sure I get to it.

Gay people on ME:

Ken & Kaiden.

They even both start with a K, hilarious.

I always thought Kaiden was gay. I mean he is well mannered and very well groomed. The over-all problem is that sex was included in a way that does not develop the story line. Now in ME2 if Liara had come back to Sheppard and said this is our love child, then that would have been interesting.

Otherwise, it just played to the lowest denominator. I know sex sells, but the story is not affected at all by the romantic encounters.

I actually agree with this. Short sided, ridculous and hypocritical? Yeah but homophobic? Um...No. And not even BioWare as a whole either just the ME team.

ME team does have great business sense though. Too bad they didn't have a little more and leave all gay romances out without doing the whole tittlation routine.

IF she's not female One that means M!Shep isn't heterosexual anymore though? So he can have sex with a non gendered alien but not a human/alien male? Really?

Wait for it. Wait for it.
"Zevran was a city elf. They do not have any distinct male or female genders."

But yes, saying EA or BioWare is homophobic is pushing it a little too far. Surely almost any company out there is homophobic then... hell, most directors, musicians and whatnot would be.

I think that would be a different case. I definetly wouldn't go as far as call anyone homophobe, but since the developers seem to be so concerned about allowing each one of us to play the game the way WE like, I believe they should try to include all the possibilities the can. So I think it's a valid request, although I certainly wouldn't go anywhere near that ingame path. :)

Yeah I understand sort of like those other guys that are into cats and sheep....I mean ugh that's gross and completely not natural and normal like having a romance with your neighbor's dog. But in the end it's all about equal rights so BioWare should not release a game with any sort of romance option unless they can include everyone.....like those other dudes that are into elder people and the ones into younger people(lots of them in this category, the news keep telling about how they get arrested all the time).

Hey, your allowed to chose the sexual orientation of your male shepherd, their just happen to be no gay guys on the Normandy. tough luck :(

No gay guys on the Normandy or anywhere else in the Mass Effect 2 Universe.....   Apparently, we've been exterminated....

What are you talking about?   Are you suggesting Bioware take a random gay guy from club omega and let you have sex with him?   I don't think that would be appropriate.

Hey, if you want to show me someone who is not on the normandy, and can be a potential romance, feel free to add in a name.   The only guys that are even DEVELOPED who are not on the normandy are Anderson and Udina.    Do you think a romance of ANY KIND with them would be appropriate for the tone this game is trying to set.?

It wouldn't be completely fair, but anything is better than complete and utter exclusion.  At least ladies got to discuss lesbian movies and flirt with Morinth and Kelly, and they get to continue their romance with Liara....

The fact your calling Kaidan gay because he is well groomed is disgustingly homophobic.

Their isn't any evidence to suggest hes gay, considering hes a romance option for female sheps, and enjoys the deed.

Yeah he really should. I love Kaidan but yeah. Dude. The hair needs to go.

Same for Sheploo. :pinched: Why the heck didn't they imitate his beautiful long wavy hair. Noooo the reproduced that lousy crew cut. =]

Oi. I don't think Kaidan's gay because he's well groomed. I think he's gay because everytime he and DudeShep have a convo I get Ho Yay vibes.

Also I can't stand Hale's voice. I really just want to be able to romance Kaidan without listening to bloody Hale's voice. :(
