And in response to above post, as a women who has had more than a few meaningful lesbian relationships, I can very easily tell you that lesbians are indeed met with less hostility than gays. Once again, not fair but it's just the way it is.

Depends, many women are raped for being lesbian (that's terrible problem in RSA right now).

Well, okay, it depends on where you are. South Africa I know has a lot of problems, but there's also heinous persecution for gays as well.

I'm from Australia, a lot of men would much rather put up with a ****** than a poof, you know? They feel threatened by gays because it threatens their sexuality. I mean don't get me wrong, as a lesbian there's hostility, just not to the degree that gays get. At least that's how it is in more... affluent western countries of the world, anyway.

Thats probably the main factor. Why create content that can potentially drive away customers and give you negative publicity?

There's the saying that all publicity is good publicity.  And DA:O managed to include m/m relationships without crashing and burning, in fact it's done very well.

Also, this is assuming that the voice actor would be comfortable voice acting some man love. I am not that familiar with the voice acting industry, but could it be the kiss of death for their career?

The voice acting was recorded, so that was not a problem.  Additionally, this is the entertainment industry we're talking about.  It's a gay-friendly industry, and in addition to that actors are more likely to do well professionally if they are able to take on a wide variety of roles.  There's a growing list of major male film stars that have played gay roles (among them Ewan McGregor, Heath Ledger, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Antonio Banderas), and these did not hurt their careers.

Are you really saying that lived experiences are on the same realm as and equal validity to opinions formed outside of actual experience?

I said that gays meet with more hostility than lesbians. You're saying that you experienced both gay's and lesbian life? Nobody did. That's where opinions are comming.

Lesbian subject pops up from time to time when talking with girls and I've never heard a girl who express disgust in F/F relationships, they are rather unbiased. Men on the other hand are generally very egdy when they hear about gays.

Honestly, as long as I, personally, never noticed any homosexuality in the game, if they would've decided to add that perspective, I'd be fine with it. Being a straight Shepard, as I am, talking to other characters in the game -- male characters -- and somehow accidentally stumbling into some type of flirtatious confrontation would completely rip me out of the game. Accidentally as in, say, clicking Paragon options.

Example:

Shepard: "Kaiden, how're you holding up?"

Kaiden: "Not too good, the headaches are flaring up again."

Shepard: "You O.K.?"

Kaiden: "I am now." and then he winks.

Shepard: "I should go," with arms flailing.

That's when Bioware adds a realistic response for those not interested where shepard says "Dude, not cool." "Kaiden... just... no..." or punches him in the mouth or something depending on what kind of ship you run. After that it never happens again and you can choose to be horrified by the fact someone, somewhere out there is a homosexual, or you can feel a little flattered that you're even pulling in the guys now.

Jeez. This thread is taking political correctness to a new level of disgusting. I'm feeling an onset of justifiable homophobia by reading some of the comments.

I am sorry I just imagined the outrage that could  come from that scene. OMG BioWare is advocating violance against homosexuals... but I agree being able to say "no not interested I am not gay" or whatever would be fine. It also works IRL (no not hitting someone but just saying I am not into that) I know this because I have some experiance.
My sister is a lesbien and theres been times I have gone to meet her somewhere and it was a gay bar. If a guy hits on you take it as a compliment and then tell them thats not your bag. It is not that hard.

There's
no answer to your question, you won't get it here. All we can do is
show understandement and agree with you. Yes, I undestand you and agree
that you should get M/M romance option but I don't like your attitude.

I don't taking it so personal but I just really don't like to feel ignored if i pay so much for a game. I'm don't be feminist or other kind of freaky girl like this but when someone treat you like air and only made game fot fit into boy's players setting it's don't nice feeling, belive me. Other games by BW are perfectly done with this things, like in both their best games, Jade Empire and Dragon Age you can be lesbian and gay and here you can't be gay, it's just dissapointing. I never called they homophobes as someone says but i think i can call they sexists when they introduce lesbians to please boys but not introduce gays to please girls.

I've met a lot of heterosexual girls
and I have to say that 99% of them think that guy on guy is much less
appealing than two girls going at it. I'd say the same thing goes for
almost every heterosexual guy.

Yea, as misoretu9 says, it's really strangely, maybe you have lesbian envirement, huh? I don't know your envirement but for easiest check what most girls think about this matter just chceck girl's comments on videos with kissing boys on youtube, most of them says things like "hot", "sweet", "sexy" or "female boner", same as boy's comments on lesbians.

Did you try male gay relationships too? It's depended by many things, I know much lesbians/bisexual girls who were insulter much more times than gays/bisexual boys, I know examples from rl and internet so you are not right.

@Ryzaki
I've joined the group, i didn't it before because I post this thread at night, so i just respond to first 7 pages and go to bed. And i really don't know why you recongize me as troll because I registered in same day when i posted this thread, I said where i did it before.

I don't really see a problem. Perhaps it also has to do with the image of the average tough guy/woman and that of the average gay. Where gay men are usually seen as feminine, gay women are seen as masculine (even though I know some real life people who are quite the opposite of these stereotypes). As Hero's, gunning their way through geth, reapers and collectors, are generally seen as more masculine. Following the image from the stereotype would mean our Shep and Femshep are both masculine (in their actions) and thus it would seem a FemShep would be able to romance a same sex NPC, while Shep can't.

Nevertheless, I do not see a problem for a homosexual relationship, as long as it isn't forced upon the player (unlike Jacob and FemShep). Even Dragon Age had it...

This and similar threads won't really ever die, because this is something that annoys a goodly number of people, whatever their orientation. People will stop discussing it if Bioware allows M/M in ME3 and doesn't make hash of it writing-wise (of course, there's just no pleasing some people, but I don't really count them, as they'll always find something...anything...to have a fit over).  Or adds it to ME2 via a DLC character, though that's extraordinarily unlikely.

The only good breweries I know from Canada are Dieu Du Ciel and Unibrone. If Budweiser and Miller are all your basing your opinion on, you've got a lot to learn about American Beer.

Oh I know but I want the mega stomp all over the face of most of the ridculous "M!Shep is canonically straight" thread to come out already. :bandit:

Men with men relationships are disgusting, woman and woman relationships are beautiful. It is the truth. No matter what your opinion is. It is just in our human nature.

edit: and american beer is as good and sofisticated as the rest of the american people. You have no sense for real art. Go back to hip hop and your watered ale.

You don't think they'd just have a different headache?  Also: no, people would still want to know why MShep had no male LI.  Once they allowed F/F in KoTOR and M/M in JE, that was it: expectations created.  If they'd never done either, they'd just be yet another company that shied away from gay content.

Prepare to get flamed!  And american beer is great if you know where to look.  Yuengling FTW!

And to the OP, if you don't like there being no gay relationships in ME just play DA:O.  You can make more of a statement by using your wallet than you can with text.
