Having gay and lesbian romance options to appease the perverted fantasies of fangirls and fanboys respectively is rather absurd.

^This sooo much.

Talimance and Garrus mance as well.

Hell we really could do with either 1. a canon LI [Kaidan for FemShep, Liara or Ashley for M!Shep and that's it for the whole trilogy] for Shep or 2. No romances at all.

Because yeah. This...ugh. Sooo many arguments that wouldn't have existed.

Seems like you are misinterpreting me. I am not saying that Bioware should have only have a few options per gender. I am prioritizing the wishes of actual gays and lesbians over heterosexual females and heterosexual males in regards to same sex romance options.

Well, at least it'd be equally absurd.

Oh no I understood that. I just wish there was only one bloody canon LI. (Makes things simplier) or no LIs at all (might have a better combat system, more resources can go into other things).

Its not like the ME romances are amazingly deep anyways. <_<

I don't understand the significance of having a canon LI. Do you mean canon as forced upon the player, like Yuna is forced upon Tidus in FFX? Or do you mean canon as in; if Bioware had to make a canon story for Shepard, he/she would have this romance partner?

Its not like the ME romances are amazingly deep anyways. <_<

Yet they appear to be among the best - at least among the games that allows the player to choose between romance options. Then again, I've never played any games of any company other than Bioware that have this, but it seems to be true.

Forced like Yuna on Tidus. (Or you have the option of having no one at all).

Not really I found DA to be far better. And KOTOR really. Heck Persona 3 with Aigis has a deeper love story to me (then again there's a lot of wangst to be had in some of those relationships so it might just be personal taste.)
And speaking of Yuna and Tidus...them too.

Though yeah BioWare is one of the only companies that have optional LIs.

I don't share your sentiment. I like having options, it fits perfectly with the entire theme of the series, which is choice. Though, I would still play Mass Effect regardless even without romance, I am too enamored with dialogue choices not to. It also helps that the gameplay and story is stellar as well.

To
be honest I didn't find the DA ones to any notable amount better, but
it is a matter of opinion. I never did the KOTOR romances so I wouldn't
know about that in particular. Fortunately, both of which are Bioware
games. Aside from the intentionally sidelined Liara, Ashley, and Kaidan, Mass Effect 3 will be the first time that - at least hopefully -that romance truly carry over to another game. Here's hoping that the romances develop more deeply, possibly with those powerful three words.

Yep let's hope.

I do hope BioWare at least records the MM dialogue with Kaidan again. It was nice of them to do it for the second game.

It is likely that this is mainly due to EA's oversight, lack of time or even a fear of the public's opinion. If it is the latter it is rather weak... They also dismissed the claim that Asari and female Shepard is a lesbian relationship... Which would suggest that they indeed do not like the public to think that they have homosexual relationships in Mass Effect...

Here is a lot of talking about lesbian love and a lot of people claim Liara/FemShep is lesbian love, but it is not, just like EA/BW says. The asari are asexual, they are neither male or female. They may look female to us, but they are not. I know an asexual girl in RL, she looks like a girl, her voice is of a girl, she even speaks and acts like a girl (well I gues its because she was taught to be one), but in the end, she is no female. "She" (maybe I should rather says it ...) couldnt care less for physical romance, male, female? Doesnt matter, either is good. And do not mix up asexual with bi... Kelly Chambers is "bi" and some sort of distraction for both fem and male Shep. There is no homosexual love/romance in ME or ME2, but in DAO.

Due to the fact that Liara's and Kelly's physical gender is female, there are same sex romances in ME. The Asari in the codex are said to be an all-female race. I honestly have NO comment about you meeting an "asexual" girl in real life. My advice is to look up what asexual really means.

Exactly what I said. :kissing:

There is audio files for  the M!Shep x Kaidan relationship in ME2.

**** did i just get trolled? think you can troll the master and get away with it?

hmm. Well lets put it this way, there is a difference between something made with pixels and something that pixels try to replicate. The first is the one i meant ofc.

Let's open up our Codex, children:  "An all-female race, the Asari reproduce through a form of parthenogenesis."

And now, a little math:

Femshep = Girl
Liara = Girl
Femshep on Liara = Girl on Girl
Q.E.D.

OK, well, technically, parthenogenesis is a mode of asexual reproduction, and that is how the Asari roll.  Here's the catch, though: it's defined as occurring specifically in female organisms.  So, yeah: the Asari are chicks, no matter how you try to parse it.

Yea. But he said that he meant an asexual girl which either means
a) A girl who has little to no sexual attractions or feelings. Nothing special about this in context to the discussion.
B) A girl who can reproduce asexually. Not possible.

To reiterate my point, I do not need a graphic sex scene.I just want a gay ROMANCE in the game, like a kiss or a hug. To show that shepard is indeed gay. Anything else can be fade to black, I just want the romantic dialogue in there

Ah, sorry.  I'd overlooked the "I know an asexual girl in RL" thing.  Yeah, a dictionary is definitely in order.

Especially since a guy who is attracted to the girl with no sexual interest would still be straight, and a girl who is attracted to the girl with no sexual interest would still be lesbian (or at least bi).

FemShep is lesbian or bi if she's involved in a romantic relationship with an Asari.
