And hell I've said I was female at least 20 times in this thread alone.
That's it. I'm placing my gender in my siggy. Since no one understands otherwise.
We had a small exchange of words in which I stated that I held the wishes of gay or bisexual men as higher than those of women in regards to same sex male options. The response you gave gave me the impression that you were male.

I don't think that blaming Bioware is a good idea, as they previous experience with instauring homosexuality in ME1 led to a mediatic scandal and the withdrawal of ME1 games in some countries stores.
The said scandal did a massive boost to the sales, and the said countries (namely Singapore) quickly lifted the ban when they realized that the game was not porn.
I think that the decision to not introduce male to male pairing in ME1 and ME2 is a manoeuvre of carefulness.
Personally I suspect that it was purely a matter of priorities. There was limited amount of time, and when stuff had to be cut, it wasn't considered important enough to stay. There are still parts of dialogue in ME2's sound folder that indicate that the option was writen, and was partially voice-acted. That's the point of these threads - telling that it is important to avoid a double standard.
Male gay Shepards are not good for publicity. I stated that 2 days ago in like... 20 pages before this one
Dragon Age sold better than Mass Effect 1 despite (because?) of having a gay male option. Clearly bad publicity didn't cause any trouble there. That argument doesn't hold water.

Because I said that was true? How would that give you the impression that I'm male? One doesn't have to be of a group to place their opinion of a higher validity then someone else's.
Like a guy thinking a female's opinion should matter more about a male LI for female PCs. Nothing different.

You have to wonder whether it really has to do with this. Dragon Age had an option for gay/bisexual PC's, and the sex scene was as explicit as the heterosexual ones. I don't pretend to know the exact reason why homosexual options are not available for male shepards, but like you I don't think it makes a statement about the sexual opinion of any person in bioware.IguanidaeViridisAbsolutus wrote...
but I don't think that Bioware and EA want to risk a new Mass Effect scandal.

To answer your question. Impressions are often based upon fragmented misinformation and unavoidable biases. If I offended you, apologies.

I wasnt time. It was scandalism
Were you answering to me? Did you notice that part about Dragon Age selling better than Mass Effect 1 with no scandals even though it has a male homosexual option?

I thought the Mass Effect 1 scandal was that there was any sex at all, and a bunch of idiots blew it out of proportion saying it was outright pornography that gave you full control during realistic and graphic sex scenes. That was more the focus than there being gay content.
This is exactly the case. A few gullible idiots heard things from other idiots and somehow the idea that
a) The sex scenes are graphic and have full frontal nudity.
c) You can have any person, at least of the female gender, at the same time, how ever many you want.
You have to wonder at the stupidity of these people. The guest that Fox had had her book bombarded with bad reviews, each one emphasizing that they are prematurely judging her book as terrible without even reading it. Just as she did with Mass Effect - she never even saw or played it, but claimed it was a sexist sex simulator.

Then ,to respond to our dead Ryzaki : I'm absolutly not against the implementation of M/M pairing, I'm in as long as it doesn't affect the main quest or trigger accidently. I'm just saying that I'm not as attracted to M/M pairing than M/F or F/F pairing... I doesn't touch me, that's it, I can't have a very subjective opinion on the subject.

Basically its what happens when idiots only listen to other idiots. One conservative blogger said it was porn, another conservative blogger took that and ran with it, making up details as he went along, then Fox got ahold of this second guy's blog and brought in an "expert", briefing her with the made-up facts to which she added MORE made-up facts. She at least admitted it was stupid to speak on a subject without having researched it herself. The second blogger gave more of a non-apology. It was like a game of telephone.... being played by angry mental patients.

Hm, maybe your right.
But I still think it's comprehensible that Bioware didn't implemented
completly the M/M relationships. Time, pressures, priorities, reasons
are multiple, but if Bioware made the effort to do the voice over and
the script, then it's an encouraging news, no ?

So you're fine with it then as long as the romance text is obvious like green or pink or curvy or something? Or like Investigate only it says Romance instead?

This applies to me as well. Male homosexuality is a major turn-off for me. But I stll think that those who want it deserve the option, because it's quite hypocritical to only put in F/F option "because lesbians are hot", as many have neatly expressed the matter. It doesn't exactly help that Kelly was the most shallow "romance" in the game, either, when the sole good reason to want a romance subplot in a video game is to increase character depth and give the player a greater sense of emotional involvement.
Since only partial lines exist for the same-sex option in the files of ME2, I find time-constraints the most likely explanation out of many. I hope that some day we'll see a Director's Cut or something in that vein that would open us all the content that had to be cut out of the games because the devs didn't have time to finish it. Bioware has already done something similar with Jade Empire....

You can't really trigger the romances accidentally in either ME game, the choices are preeettyy obvious. And if a character expresses interest in you, you can turn them down.
False. I talked to Ashley - and given that you are female, you are less likely to have trigged the romance - and did not flirt with her, but somehow she thought Shepard wanted her. Eventually you get absolutely stuck - she asks if you're "still" intersted, and all of the options say yes.

Suckage. ITS A TRAP!
Yeah...romance (investigate) option or green/pink/curvy text is a must. I only hope even if they don't put the M/M in BioWare at least uses the make the romance dialogue options obvious suggestions.

It's not hypocritical - you are simply reading between lines that aren't there.because it's quite hypocritical to only put in F/F option "because lesbians are hot",

Huh really? True, I haven't done a complete playthrough as a male Shepard before (First Shepard obviously reflected myself a bit in her choices, especially her apparent taste for blue women, second female Shepard was for biotic achievements and romancing Garrus cause I'm curious and he's my favorite character lol), due in part because the female Shepard has a better voice actor.
I'll have to try this myself though, I'm playing full Renegade through ME1 into 2 with my male!Shep, and I was planning to go after Ashley anyway.
And it is kinda hypocritical to have F/F but not M/M, it would be like if the female Shepard couldn't use certain weapons or had less strength than the male Shepard or something, and had no advantages over him either.

I'm fine as long as the romance text is not shown as : "Investigate more" and Shepard say when selected : "I like men/girls, and you ?" or a kind of brutal, accidental dialogs. It would be perfect if it was implemented as others romance : You must see the person multiple times and you can deny his/her offer anytime you want.
I remember having accidently began the crazy girl with tatooes everywhere romance as my Shep' said he was "interested" in her whereas I wasn't.
AND I COULDN'T TELL HER TO GO SEE AROUND IF I'M STILL HERE ! She always ask me if I wanted to dump Tali for her... I just wanted to learn about her childhood, not date a freaking psychopath !
That's what I don't want if they implement M/M pairing : Accidental dating and impossibity to tell the person to back off or I'll shoot
