Well they are being homophobic ryuuichi. When the damn CEO of the company says male shep is predefined regarding his sexuality but fem Shep isn't what else would you call that?
There are definitely homophobic undertones to BioWare's recent statements from Casey Hudson and Ray Muzyka....

You call the CEO an idiot and moron the very fact that there was Thane/M!Shep and Kaidan/M!Shep audio files in the game should tell you that BioWare is not homophobic. <_<
More than likely they were stopped from putting it in. Most likely by someone above who thought it would harm their "profits". The BioWare devs aren't completely to blame for this. (Though honestly they really should have taken the lesbian relationships out to cover their ass).Haasth wrote...
True, you cant really blame BIOWARE itself, only individuals within BIOWARE.Ryzaki wrote...

I
enjoy this thread and I would have to agree on the one fact about why
people are pissed. Being gay should be a choice, as is the choice to BE
gay in the game. I would not personally choose a male shepard to be
gay, but I am sure there are types who would view "their" shepard to be
such
The game is made in canada, likely one of the top ten gay friendly countries. We should show that to the world.
I know that this is an important dicussion and everyting but.... the game was made in CANADA?../../../images/forum/emoticons/sick.png
Wait...lol BioWare is in Canda. I'm sorry but I have to laugh for a moment.
I'm...like 4 hours away from Canada.
Not so different from America after all. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/cool.png
I want to visit Canada. Oh, and America too... ../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png
Err... Yes... So... Homophobic. Obviously.
That's not what I meant. I meant placing artistic merit BELOW profits. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png

Pretty much this.
Also all this mud-slinging on both sides needs to stop. It really does.

2. BIOWARE IS HOMOPHOBIC FOR NOT PUTTING A GAY ROMANCE
3. ALL YOU GUYS NEED TO SHUT UPPP
4. Well -
1. SHUT UP SHEP ISN'T GAY!!!!
2. YOU SHUT UP1!!!!
1. BE QUITE F***
1 & 2 go at it for a while and 3 starts posting random pictures.
4. *sigh*

I support your viewpoint Miss Sylwia...I'm gay and I don't want to see two girls getting it on, I want man on man action. But Bioware has been pretty sexist and homophobic regarding this issue for some reason. FemShep isn't even ''canon'' supposedly so all the girls playing femshep are just playing for nothing. Anyway, nice thread
/hats off to you

I agree - I am hetrosexual but know several homosexual/gay males who have played ME2 or plan on playing it.
So it would be nice to have that freedom for those who want to pursue it.
As for BIOWARE being sexist and homophobic regarding this issue - have you even played DRAGON AGE ORIGINS?
I seriously doubt it's an issue of being sexists or homophobic.
For whatever their reasons, it wasn't included in ME2. A shame. But not game breaking. And it's not like there's much to chose from for males. Garrus has an attactive personality. Zaeed is the only other human male. I suppose there's Thane and such. Just like how there's Tali for the males.
Whatever their reasons - again - a shame it didn't get put in ME2. But the issue is clearly not that their sexist or homophobic, as DA:O proves (which came out before ME2, so it's not like DAO was made with those opitions in answer to it not being available in ME2).

It wouldn't be completely fair, but anything is better than complete and utter exclusion. At least ladies got to discuss lesbian movies and flirt with Morinth and Kelly, and they get to continue their romance with Liara....
Kelly and Morinth are squadmates.
I'm talking about just randomly having sex with a random guy in omega or something, which would be your only option if nobody in your crew was openly gay. Thats isn't consistent with any of the thematic elements in Mass Effect at all, and their is no chance Bioware would allow either gender to do that. ME is a space opera with romantic elements, not a japanese romance simulator.
Morinth is a flirt for one mission, unless you decide otherwise....
LOL. SignedDarth_Trethon wrote...
YEAH....and what's the deal with no animal romance? I mean there are a lot of people that want to enjoy a perfectly normal love like the love between a man and another man's dog.

I'm going to disagree with the OP on one point, I'm a straight female gamer and I DO NOT want to see two guys getting it on at all, it is not cute or attractive to me in the slightest. It is just as squicky to me as girl on girl nastiness.
I was able to easily avoid this, however, by not playing a male character and romancing Zevran or playing a female and romancing Leli in Dragon Age. I'm pretty sure if Mass Effect had a male who'd be interested in a male Shep I could just as easily avoid that romance as I avoided Liara's.
