Masculinity of female Shepard

and body positioning.
In my opinion the female Shepard was strange to play because her voice and the way she carried herself was
so manly. It was probaly meant for her to be very masculine but it was weird to me.
Her voice annoyed me so much the first I heard it that I rerolled as a guy.
So the point of all that rambling was did you find femal Shepard really masculine and didn't like it?
OR
Thought it fit the character and was good?

I assure you she's evocative of real life female soldiers I've met.
I find her voice perfect for the role. BioWare could stand to be a little less lazy with certain animations but that's about it.

She's not manly, she's a soldier. Don't be so sexist.

I would say that the only thing overly masculine is the fact that you are forced to put on bulky armor that looks tailored for a male.

W-What?
...
What?
Its armor. Its purpose is protection. I know fantasy games have given us the impression that female armor is sexy, but...its really not. Its really the same thing as what males get.

I don't know why I keep hearing this; it's consistent with the first Mass Effect, and obviously a commander will have to exude some masculine qualities.

If anything, her armor is -too- feminine. Breastplates...boobplates? They're a structural weakness, could get her killed.

I wouldn't call it masculine as much as confident.
Granted confidence and leadership are often associated with masculinity because this is a sexist, sexist world.
But hey it's getting better.

I don't know how anyone thinks this, the armour all looks perfectly suited to females. It's bulky.. yeah it's supposed to be, it's armour.

This.
I dont want my femShep to act very differently from maleShep. But i'd like some more elegant and feminine armor, to be honest. Even if it doesn't make much sense, being a pro military and all... but it would look nice. :innocent:

Not really, the curved plating could actually deflect bullets better than a large flat surface.

Armor simply doesn't have to be that bulky. Look at the Collector armor.
Collector armour is based on muscle tissue, not metal plating.

You can easily have curved plating without creating a concave point right in the center of her chest, where most people would be aiming.

I was just saying that when I first heard the voice (I didn't play ME1) it shocked me and was a lot deeper than I expected. I just don't like it.
I understand that as a commander (soldier) that you need to be forceful and in charge.
The voice and how her body positioning just annoyed me.
I was just wondering if anyone thought the same.

The armor is allright, what I thought was stupid was going into the VIP section of Afterlife in Ship Uniform... seriously, you go clubbing in your ship's uniform?

Regardless, I'm just saying there's nothing wrong with slimmer-fitting armor.

Annoys me, but I'm a guy. I simply don't play FemShep. But thats how it should be. Military women aren't...um...flowers?

Which isn't that obvious, which is no doubt adequately protected.
And aiming for the centre of mass is what soldiers do to targets, male or female.

Plus I got the exact opposite feeling, I usually do my first playthrough with males characters, but in ME I found that the male Shepard VA sounded too much like a...soldier, or a marine. My Shepard is a goddamn Siha, not any marine who's set to save the world, because it's his mission. And I also find normal that she stands like a military. Male or female, they're educated in the same martial way.
Also, the female VA have awesome lines with sexy/naughty/whatever intonations.
" I noticed a few *upgrades*" at the beginning of the game with an accentuation of upgrades.
"Time to do some killing" (or something like that) in a very nasty/naughty voice in the Archangel mission, when you choose a renegade answer.

You can pick what your 'casual' outfit is. It doesn't have to be a uniform.

I don't see how that matters---technically it's still some form of armor.

There is when you're trying to provide protection from shrapnel, bullets, and explosions.

Sexism of one's own gender is still sexism.

Do you expect a miltary commander who just died and came back to sound like a valley girl?

I honestly don't get what you expect out of a soldier.
