True but why compensate for a structural weakness when there is no need for it? Rounding the entire area off (this should apply for the male armor too, stupid manboobs) will be far more structurally sound as protection goes.
In the end it really is just an aesthetic choice, proper armor would have no difference between male and female armor and they would make anyone wearing it androgynous.

But the physical armor in this game has no real world application anyway, since everyone really just relies on their shields than their flimsy papier mache armor. (Seriously, those mercs are idiots)

Since we're dealing with magic sci-fi shields and magic unobtanium (I used that term before Avatar! Shut it!) armour a lot of that becomes irrelevant.
If we were to go for total realism then everyone would be wearing stuff like the Inferno/Cerberus armor which features heavy flat plating for both male and females.

The OP said in her first post that Shepard's stance is one of several traits that she finds too manly.

I meant I don't like it in my image of Shepard. After seeing a male shepard stand exactly the same way it was odd to me. How has me saying I find it strange that they stand the same way and its odd to me.
All I wanted to know is if other people thought that and if they thought the voice was to deep.
How does that make me sexist just because I thought it was weird and the voice didn't my character's persona.

It doesn't specifically, people just like to jump to conclusions.  Most of this thread is people responding to others, not to you specifically.  Though you did open the proverbial can of worms with this thread.

How does me not liking a voice on MY character because it is very deep and masculine sexist.
I didn't say I didn't like it on other girls I just said.
I didn't like it because it was too deep for my personal taste and not how I thought my Shepard would sound.

I still honestly don't get the too deep angle, or why it would bother you so much.
You obviously have some pre-defined expectations as to how a woman should sound and act, perhaps it would do you better to shed them.

Why would I be Sexist against my own sex????

Is this a trick question? People can be, whether it be due to long held beliefs, personal agenda, self-loathing, etc.
I'm not accusing you of any of this, but it certainly does happen.

I just don't like the voice for my character and what I was expecting. On other women its fine.
The voice is just to deep for my taste and how I imagined Shepard would sound.
All I wanted to know was if people liked the voice not have some arguement  over sexism and self-loathing, Ect.
Oh my gosh Haha I thought it was a simple question Haha:happy:
I just don't like the voice on shepard:lol:

As weird as the people they own. Like arguing on the internet about a fictional character's femininity.

And yet it was clearly worth your time to read the thread and post here.  Hmm.

I have two male neutered cats.  I'm doubly wierd.

I'm so wierd, I've been known to admit when I'm wrong ON THE INTERNET!  *gasp*

I find maleShep to be way to feminine, he stands and moves exactly the same way as femShep and I think its just too girly so I always play femShep.

The voice actor and default character model as well, he looks like some effeminate male model with a weak girly voice, a soldier should be manly dammit.

lol. OP. Seriously girl, stop this. You're embarassing yourself...just a little bit.
"I'm a woman so I can say things that belittle women without being sexist!"

You practically said "I got annoyed at fem shep's low voice so much that I decided to play as a man instead; if i'm gonna be manly I might as well be a man!"

Girl I went back and played as a girl
I don't like the voice for my image of shepard
Whats the big deal?

Like I said it was to deep for my personal taste

I know, which more or less why I love the Blood Dragon armor, since the difference between male and female is minimal where the chest area is properly rounded off. It makes sense. Science fiction be damned, I want my armor to make sense!

Well, meh. The only problem I found with Jennifer Hale's work was that weird kind of...breathing thing she does. It annoys me when people do it in real life and it annoys me when she does it - kind of like a sigh before she talks, I don't know how to describe it.

Personal taste is fine but you went on about masculinity and all that which people like me disagree with.
And this is the internet, if someone disagrees they will tell you until you've been TOLD. So to speak.

... But I know femShep isn't a realistic female soldier. That role would go to Ashley. She's a female soldier and I never had the feeling there was something out of place with her character. How come I DO have this feeling with femShep?

So yeah, explain me this. Why does femShep feel out of place while Ashley doesn't?

I'm wondering just how many female soldiers you really know? Your opinion that something (whatever it may be) is out of place is one your entitled to hold, but your "fact" that femShep isn't a realistic female soldier is hogwash. I can state that real female soldiers exhibit many of femshep's traits/mannerisms ... Why do you have this feeling? Most likely because you have not had many ( if any) real life female soldiers involved in your life.

Anyone who's confused, or worse yet unhinged, by how female Shepard is portrayed in ME, rest assured that she is simply a soldier - one who acts in a manner that befits a soldier, even if that persona has been made up with a Hollywood artist's brush dipped in society's preconceived pallette. Yes, they are stereotypical traits. They however, do not make female Shepard the slightest bit manly, nor any less womanly. Anyone who fails to comprehend that has a sadly diminished and narrow-minded view of the real world and its people.

And to no one in particular:

"You're entitled to your opinion. You may state your opinion, but don't try to present your personal ideals as facts. At any rate, say what you want. I don't care and it won't change my views, because the fact of the matter is that you're wrong. So, I suggest it's time to get off your ass, go for a walk, take a shower, get a hair cut, and go on a date, because gamers are all fat, unkempt, and in dire need of socialization."

See, I can act fatuous and stubborn, and throw stereotypes around, too.

/end rant

I've come across certain irritations in this thread, and that always makes me rant. I can only handle so much stupidity before I snap. Maybe later, I'll blow up some Collectors with a Cain. That always makes me feel better.

That's exactly the kind of post I was hoping to see. You pretty much captured the gist of my argument.

I thought your argument was that sexism doesn't exist because men and women are ~different~.

I understand that as a commander (soldier) that you need to be forceful and in charge.
The voice and how her body positioning  just annoyed me.
I was just wondering if anyone thought the same.

There's a fallacy if I've eaver read one.

I guess I'm not a girl since I found her quite normal.  Huhn, my husband will be disappointed.

Haha Gosh
I just don't like the voice its to deep for me.
All I wanted to know was other people's opinion about.
Then people say I'm sexist because I don't like the voice because I find it too deep and masculine to fit my character idea.
I say I'm a girl because I wouldn't be sexist against myself
I just wanted to get other people's opinion not be attacked about being sexist just because I don't like the voice for my character.
Hahaha I didn't reliaze it was so controversial.

Alright, this comes down to a difference in opinion. I find the idea of accusing people of sexism petty, same goes for racism. Other people do find these issues important, but I don't. And it's not out of disrespect for women. I'm just willing to accept that certain groups of people may or may not be naturally more capable or adept at certain things.

I  thought the guy who earnestly said there were male and female skills was funny, but you're like a parody.

I don't know if any one else thought it was weird that femal shep and male shep had the same lines
and body positioning.
In my opinion the female Shepard was strange to play because her voice and the way she carried herself was
so manly. It was probaly meant for her to be very masculine but it was weird to me.
Her voice annoyed me so much the first  I heard it that I rerolled as a guy.

So the point of all that rambling was did you find femal Shepard really masculine and didn't like it?
OR
Thought it fit the character and was good?

Her voice is too manly I totally agree.

My voice is kinda low for a girl's.  You chose the wrong words to avoid that argument.

And just saying you're a girl, doesn't preclude you from being sexist.  I've met plenty of female/female chauvanists.

My Shep, in my head, has a Texas accent.  Who cares what Hale sounds like?

Well obviously some disagree. Your initial post may have come off as a mite sexist.
If it wasn't then it wasn't but it may have appeared to be.
And I still don't get the voice thing. Just don't, honestly.

Because this is the internet, full of smartasses like me who have nothing better to do than argue the night away and fantacise about threesomes with Liara and Kaidan.

....

Your mileage may vary on that last part.

i'm of the opinion that if she's too masculine people hate it, if she's too feminine then people will call bioware sexist. i say just let bioware write it how they want.
