I have to agree with you. Sten is just great.Rhinna wrote...
Sten. Hands down. When you get to the point where he respects you, it's really neat. I also love the conversation that starts with "you're not as callow as I thought" I LOL'd at that one, it caught me totally offguard. And when he calls my PC "kadan" it really gives me a sense of accomplishment, that I managed to "get" him. I just wish we could find out his "real" name...haven't seen it yet, even when I have him at 100 approval. He tells you it's his title, but never tells you his name - grrr...
Compliments to the writer, I love his story about the bee and the fact that he calls you 'kadan' when you earn his respect. When you sacrifice yourself in the ending his epilogue is also quite touching (when you are friends).

Leliana grew on my character. Saying how I lit her path and all that mumbo-jumbo. I went with it, every badass hero needs a lady, right? Until she kills herself at the end due to your heroic sacrifice :'(
Whoa, she KILLS herself? Glad i've never sacrificed a character then. Does she jump off a building or something? Poor thing. I knew she was mentally unstable.
Well, she pours her heart into a love ballad about you and her that gets alot of attention. But I guess after once performance, she is seen smiling with tears in her eyes and says "I'm going to take matters into my own hands now to join the Warden"
Or something along those lines. Really sad.

Oh, and I love his line when you ask him if he ever smiles "I am smiling." that made me LOL I haven't sacrificed a PC yet, going to on this playthrough though, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone *really* thought of me...

On my human noble where I romanced Alistair to be queen Leliana was my best friend and ex lover. If you leave her at the gates of Denerim she gives you a threat to come back alive. it's quite cute.

It was either Alistair or Oghren for my Male Wardens, with the secondary choice being between Zevran and Sten. Either way, I always bro'd out with Oghren to some degree.

My HFN rogue, it was Alistair, both as love interest and Warden, with Zevran being best friend. Dog a close second.non-LI. My human mage, it was Morrigan, hands down, with Alistair as LI. Dog after.
My dwarf noble it was Morrigan, and then Loghain. Everyone else she thought was a tool. Except Zevran, who was her love slave.

The problem with Sten was that his quest was easily the most annoying of all of them due to all the location changes and gaining his approval pretty much consisted on telling him to shut up and stop questioning you.
Morrigan's disapproval of everything that didn't involve drowning puppies or kicking orphans, while usually practical given time constrain the game doesn't bother with, got old fast and Wynne wouldn't stop trying to convince the PC to be a saint.
Unless I play as a dwarf, Orzammar is the least engaging place to go (as opposed to most engaging as a dwarf) so then I get Oghren last and don't have the same amount of time to get to know him and losing ten approval right off the bat for killing Branka is something we never quite recover from.
As for Shale...I really don't get what's with all this 'it' business. I can understand her bitterness towards humans and mages after what went down with her previous master and being stranded in a field for thirty years, but she didn't even offer up any explanation for calling you 'it' nor why she's following you around if she clearly thinks you're an incompetent squishy thing (although she gets better after Caridan/finding her Thaig).

Funny, seeing as how much these three dislike each other (aside from Zevran and Morrigan agreeing that Alistair is albeit slow and occasionally ganging up on him) but these three were the ones I found I actually really liked in the game. I ended up doing the ultimate sacrifice even during Zevran's romance because I didn't want Alistair to die >_>
Morrigan is just really an incredible character. I think my favorite conversation with her was when she first pointed out that you and your lover were looking particularly cozy (You and that fool Zevran have been smiling ever since you last looked at each other). This kind of translated to me as an attempt at girl talk, or at least, as much of girl talk as you could get with Morrigan, and while I did recieve an approval drop for teasing her about it the conversation really made me feel happy.
Alistair is just always there for you (unless, you kill Isolde, in which case he'll fly off the handle so much that you fear he'll chuck burning skillets at your head) and he's quite the wisecracker. I felt bad for having to reject his first advance, because after all, the PC is probably the first girl he'd flirted with... but either way. I just really loved how friendly he was.
Zevran... gah, where do I begin. In my first playthrough he wasn't actually my Warden's lover, but I quickly became really attatched to him. (Hey Zev, tell me a story. Tell me another story. Another.) At first it was just because I was entertained at his lackadaisical way of viewing his assassinations, but once he opened up to my Warden it was really pretty touching.
And also, Wynne. Just because she's like the Mammaw. Though she'd never admit it.

She does this to a platonic male PC as well - even if you turned her down for Leliana or Zevran, but remained friendly. She'll disapprove a fair bit if you tell her you love Leliana/Zevran, but if you reply to her "I hope the dalliance is worth it, at least?" with "Oh, you have no idea..." she gives a small approval bump.

My CEF's best friend by far was Zevran. They just clicked instantly, and it ended up being really special. They ended up in a romance, but for the most part he was just someone she could open up to.
My HNF is extremely fond of Morrigan. They are both strong, free spirits with a slight lack of tact. I didn't talk to Morrigan enough before, so opening up to her now has been really special. My character going to be really heartbroken when she leaves. Sten and Leliana are also very close companions.
And darn it, DalishRanger, stop making such attractive males! I'm still upset your other avatar refused my advances. =(

... But I've had Legam as my avatar for a while now. And I just make what I think looks cool/interesting.
... When was this? Was my other avatar the Dalish? Might explain why he rejected you. He's not really into humans, save Morrigan.
