What I would suggest is bringing back elevators in a more cinematic sense. Basically, making them similar to the Relay loading screen from both games or the FTL loading screen from ME, except with each elevator ride entailing a unique panoramic views of a prerendered (so you don't defeat the mechanic behind having elevators in first place, that is, masking load times) vista.
Take the elevator to the council chamber from ME for example. Instead zipping through a white washed tube, have the characters gazing out over the ward arms as they speed up to call the council out on their buuuuull****. Party banter and hilarity ensues.

It might be nice, for example, to have elevators to your left or right passing you and seeing other people doing things they shouldn't.
Being able to mess around inside as well, like breaking parts (railings, the glass) and having the VI get progessively more pissed at you every time you break something.

I think what the point elevatorists are making is that elevators added to the immersion.

Yeah, the new loading screens are so much more interesting, and a lot less repetitive

But... loadings screens are soooo 2009. They only have on advantage: they are cheap. You don't have to implement anything. You don't even have to be creative.

I say bring them back. The load screens of ME2 were FAR more tedious.
Who wants to stare at a dull schematic for the normandy or a mass relay for the 9 billionth time? I dont. Id much rather hear some chatter from characters, or more news reports.

The news reports are replaced by Galactic News useables in cities and the unique character dialogue are replaced by useables in certain parts of the game. For example, bringing Morinth and Grunt to Tuchanka, there's a dialogue box near Fortack that causes Morinth to start lustfully retelling her love of krogan, ending the conversation with:Dinkamus_Littlelog wrote...
The load screens in ME2 are boring, slow and ****. Everything people whined about the ME1 elevators, with the added bonus of now characters have less interaction since the elevator conversations have been removed.
---
Morinth: I love krogan. They burn bright, and burn out quickly.
Grunt: Go away, asari ****.
Morinth: I love it when you're angry.
---
It would be very time consuming to make unique conversations between 11 (and soon 12) of the squadmates.

I really do not want elevators back, What a nightmare they were! Presidium Elevators anyone? Ewww...
So how is a 60 second loading screen better than a 60 second elevator ride with amuzing dialogue?

If you play the game from disc the screens take forever - BW should implement, elevators, decontamination, car rides etc in ME3 - the experience should be as seamless as possible.
I wish they could do something similar to FIFA's lobby screen - you should be able to walk in the elevator / look out the window in the car while the stuff loads in the background - all the while listening to converstation news vids. Maybe thats a bit too much but what they should aim for.

Plus, as I waited for the elevator ride to end, I could go grab a soda or go to the bathroom quick and be back when it's finished.

I feel really sorry for BioWare at this point.
Elevators didn't add to immersion, really. They made everywhere feel small.
*sings* The Presidium is connected to the, ward zone, the ward zone's connected to the C-Sec zone, the C-Sec zone's connected to the, Presidum.... etc.
The world Mass Effect 2 created doesn't feel so small, simply by virtue of the fact that there's a greater distance between each area. That we have to look at an orange loading screen as we make the transition from place to place doesn't change that fact.

And staring at the same loading screen and hearing the same loading sounds over and over was so much better?
loading screens are much better
well your arguement has fully convinced me... how about saying why they are better?

WOW! I see it exactly the other way around.
I actually think that; overheating weapons/no ammo, elevator/airlock loading screens and achievements that are actually useful for something, was all a stroke of genius!
I feel really sorry for gamers at this point.

No, the elevators sucked. I like the loading scenes, there fast and they give good info if your new to the game. Yes you could use transport on the Citadel but places like Noveria you can't and there was too much elevators. Add more conversations between squadmates and I will be happy, but for the love of good don't bring back the elevators. I love that Miranada scene ^ ^
Wait, you actually got info from the laoding screens? All I ever saw was a stuipd green bar moving up and down or the normandy spinning around but never any real information..
