No, shame on you for building your character around specific items; I do not feel in the least slighted by Bioware because of their decision not to allow it to import at this time.

I second that

@ ladydesire and RobUnreal- I didn't build my characters around specific items, i just prefer them, (Warden Commander Armour is the coolest in the game and starfang is the most powerful weapon) and find it ridiculous that out of all the items in the game they choose to not let us import only dlc items. Would it not be easier to simply allow all items in? I'll probably still get awakening, but what u don't mind getting screwed over? And if u don't care then y r u commenting?

Hahaha, it's cool. I was kidding.

If you prefer DLC weapons and armor, more power to you, dude. I used some DLC stuff on my character. Not armor, but my weapons were DLC. But, it doesn't bother me because I bought the DLC for the expanded lore.

Hmmm I think I do agree with this sentiment.  I know we had to pay for the DLC gear, but quite frankly I am sick of looking at it.
It stands to reason that if the level cap is being increases, and they are adding two new tiers of armor/weapons, then the DLC gear will not be as good as it was in Origins.
Of course I have Gear-ADD, so my opinion might not matter that much in the long run.  :D

Yeah, debating is fun when it's light-hearted and civil.

As far as DLC goes, I read a thread on gamestop, or something, that the Devs realize how frustrating this can be for some players and are (at least) going to make sure it doesn't happen on future installments.

I couldn't care less. What I'm looking for with add-on content is new experiences. I'm not married to the old stuff. At all. It's already done its job, which was getting me through Origins. Now it's time for the Awakening gear to do the same.

@ RobUnreal That's good to know, thanks. I'm glad there will be future installments.

Almost as significant is that Bioware fed us a line of bull about the reason.  It was stated in a Q&A that the reason was primarily that extra coding would have been needed, they didn't feel like doing it, and figured no one would care.  Yet Bioware devs are still spouting this "the gear would be too weak" crap.  If the DLC gear would be too weak, then wouldn't all that gear that is weaker than DLC gear be too weak?  Yet it'll be there in Awakenings.

They are talking about Awakening end game, not the beginning of the expansion.

If the DLC gear would be too weak, then wouldn't all that gear that is weaker than DLC gear be too weak?

Of course, just like the gear you start with in Origins is generally useless by the end of the campaign.

Yet it'll be there in Awakenings.

Bioware doesn't expect everyone to buy DLC "for the phat loot", so having the default endgame gear for Origins transfer is a no-brainer.

Meh, I prefer Wade's Superior Dragonbone plate and the corruption helm anyway;and i preferred the background of topsider's honour to use with my keening blade too, so i wont be too fussed. We do get to carry over non DLC gear and gold right?

You're all idiots.

The DLC items that were provided by Bioware for Dragon Age: Origins were all free items. You never paid 1 single cent for an item. You paid for content, sure, but not the items in the DLC. If you believe you did, then you fooled yourself, since it would take you two seconds to get the same items via a mod made in the community, download and install that, for free.

You are all stupid and there are no two ways about it.

Eh, I realize that there will be better gear in Awakenings. But I'd like the option to start out with my own personalized DLC gear in the beginning, until I find something better.

Its not the Price for the DLC that matters much to me ! it is what it represents especially what I got from Return to Ostagar !

These DLC 's are "heart one" (RP speaking of course) and this is why I am sorry to let it go as much as romances !

I don't see why not caring means I shouldn't answer the poll. How about an option that says "I expect Awakening to provide me with better equipment anyway, so I think we should wait and see?"

??? The Blood Dragon armor is ridiculously inexpensive compared to other high end gear. What about us poor saps that bought Felon's Coat, Evon the Great's Mail and Staff of the Magister Lords? I'd have a lot more money to import if I hadn't bought those! Now you're saying well you can sell those. Yes I can and you can sell Blood Dragon armor before you import and carry over the gold.
[/quote]

Ummm ...... dude .... none of the items you mentioned are from DLC.  Felon's Coat ... Evon's Maul ... Staff of the Magister Lord .... these are all normal in game items that will transfer over.  The Blood Dragon Armor, The Starfang, Helm of Honnilith, Warden Comander Armor, Austerian's Might, Meric's Sword, Duncan's Sword, Duncan's Dagger, Calin's Armor, Shale, these are DLC items and will not carry over.  If its got a black boarder then it will transfer, if it is red or blue then no.

For me I kinda wanna take the Starfang and Duncan and Meric's swords over, and I wish they'd let us keep Shale.  Shale + Giant Bear = Awesome tanking team.  But honnestly as long as I can keep my accessories and my Wade Armor I'm happy.

If Shale is considered an DLC "item" then I wan't to have her transfered, but I will survive without Warden Commander or any other DLC gear.

I didn't buy any of the DLCs because they were little more than collections of overpowered items. I think its funny that Bioware is now taking their 1s and 0s back from the people who paid for them. Schadenfreude at its finest.

On a positive note, maybe the good people at Bioware realized that the direction they were taking with DLCs was terrible and this is their way of wiping the slate clean.

to be honest i really don't care. To bad shale isn't in awakening but neither are other characters like sten. I didn't download the DLC for just the loot. And it seems that with awakening you get more customisable gear which is much better anyway. DLC is just extra fluff that is it Besides, With any new dragon age expansion there will always be some uproar in some minor stuff like there is in awakening. as long as the story is good i'll buy it

I want Starfang. I don't care if it turns out to be the weakest sword in the game.

Some of us are attached to our items based on sentimental value, not on statistics. THis is a roleplaying game. Duncan's sword, likewise, is DUNCAN'S SWORD. It could be made of grey iron and deal 1 point of damage for all I care. I keep it because it's the only thing we have to remind us of Duncan.

Interesting. Sentimental value for something that doesn't exist?
