I didn't buy any of the DLCs because they were little more than collections of overpowered items. I think its funny that Bioware is now taking their 1s and 0s back from the people who paid for them. Schadenfreude at its finest.
I got them all because of the stories, not for the textures and statistics of the items found in them (that's all Starfang and the other items are is custom textures and statistics on existing game models).

what bother me, is the fact that i payed for some extra content and i cant use it in the expantion.
following this line, every item in DA:A will not be usable on DA: expantion 3.
or maybe all the future DLC: will be categorided in DA:O DLC, and DA:A DLC.
and stuff from each one will not be able to be used in the other one.
so it bother me a lot.
Like most of you that will not spot me from buying the expantion.
but may stop me from buying new DLC.

I wrote earlier: "As far as DLC goes, I read a thread on gamestop, or something, that the Devs realize how frustrating this can be for some players and are (at least) going to make sure it doesn't happen on future installments."

Almost as significant is that Bioware fed us a line of bull about the reason. It was stated in a Q&A that the reason was primarily that extra coding would have been needed, they didn't feel like doing it, and figured no one would care. Yet Bioware devs are still spouting this "the gear would be too weak" crap. If the DLC gear would be too weak, then wouldn't all that gear that is weaker than DLC gear be too weak? Yet it'll be there in Awakenings.
I haven't seen this but I can definitely say I'd have to hear a much further in depth explanation than it needs extra coding. Unless this expansion is a stand alone in it's own right (which wouldn't make it an expansion) all the information is contained on the HD or memory card and installed. It wouldn't be that difficult to load the information up and utilize it.

The character import mechanism would have to be able to authenticate the content in some manner, to make sure you owned the DLC, just like the game does when you start a new character. The problem seems to be that they aren't sure how to do that without possibly creating an exploitable loophole in the game engine, that would give an unscrupulous scripter access to your gaming system of choice.

Then it would seem to me they already created it. If the import process would have this problem so would the import process from the character creator to DA:O. It would still check for authenticity when I imported that character into the game.
The only way I could see where it isn't the same is if they were trying to rewrite it. All they'd have to do is call up the current engine verification process and run it from there. If that is what would cause the loophole, then it already exists in the game engine.

Let us keep the DLC loot - I dont see the harm in it.
