I hear tons and tons of people saying how the Reverent is so much greater then every other weapon.  It kills faster, it does tons of damage, it chews threw anyone charging them, it has huge ammo clips.  I watched in amazement as this person completed the collector ship platforms in 4 minutes.  I was like dude that totally rocks and kicks ass.  You see he was the man, he was even using shortcuts like mad too.  Even put good use to his teammates.

So I decided to make a video of my ever slow and less killing Widow with puny clip size.  Pft I wasn't as good as the other player.  I used 1 teammate ability and I wasn't using shortcuts at all.  Are you shocked yet?  Yes Reverant rules even though I sloppily finished 1 minute ahead of the guy who did the Rev video.  Wait, what!

Yeah you heard right. Widow > Reverant.  The End.

Eh, its for different playstyles. I like getting close and reigning death on an enemy so I chose the machine gun. I don't have the patience to sniper...

You may have a point, but the first thing I noticed is that you have Thane as a squadmate and the LMG user had Grunt. Both of you had Miranda.



Hey, for all I know you would have done even better with if both of you had used the same squad -- but you didn't. It's not a direct comparison. And there are more differences that I won't go in to.



I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying these particular videos aren't proof.

From what I saw, it looked to me like either:



A) Vindicator > Revenant/Widow

or

Controlled Bursts > Full Auto

You need to play more aggressive with the Revenant. On that first platform you should be at the cover closest to the enemy. I did that part far better, no offense.



Also with controlled bursts the Revenant can be used just fine at longer ranges. The Vindicator will do more damage per burst, but the Revenant can burst more often. Vindicator is awesome though, no doubting that.

So wait, you think a guy playing mainly with one weapon supplementing another situationaly powerful weapon is comparable to someone chewing though everything with a single weapon?



If anything, youve just made the point of how powerful and reliable the REV is, and how its the *single* best weapon in the game.

The other guy was only "sniping" with his Revenant. He wasn't even trying to be aggressive. Of course a sniper rifle is going to be better than a Revenant when you're sniping.

Yeah it was.  I don't know who made the other vid.  There is alot of Rev greater than all on that forum.  All of them are like "I love the Widow but the combo of the Revenant + Adrenaline Rush just blows everything else out of the water."  Just had to prove that wrong.

All joking aside, I love the Revenant, and for sniping, the Widow is great, but I'm not quite sure this was a convincing argument for either.  No kidding, the Vindicator was doing more DPS in those vids...  hence my post above.

Pft he wasn't sniping he was trying to recover his health, that is why it Looks like he was sniping.  He was just trying to survive.

Lol, this video is such garbage. I tried the same scenario with my NG+ soldier at level 30, using the same tactics (use vindicator until the second platform, then switch to widow). The first three times my teammates got instagibbed by scion shots about five seconds in and I died.



The single biggest factor in this fight is how badly your teammate get raped by shockwaves and how many times you have to use your medigel. If they don't die too often it's mostly smooth sailing.



Also comparing your video to someone sniping from cover with Revenant is retarded. Of course the Widow's going to win there.

Did people actually have trouble with this fight? I never died once here on insanity (or anywhere on the Collector ship), as a matter of fact, I don't think I even took health damage. I used a widow.

I found this to be one of the funnest and easiest fights of the game. also, I find the Revenant to be better than the Widow.

I actually like collector armor on soldier, I just had dragon armor at that point in the game for some reason. Not sure what your point is though.

My point is that not one person here yet has had the sense to actually provide a proper control. The Blood Dragon armor sucks, haha, if someone is going to "test" this then they should be using the same N7 armor, with all the best upgrades one can get for either the sniper rifle or assault rifle before the collector ship, and they should be trying to get headshots with heightened AR, not stumbling about like everyone in these videos so far.

Do you really think what armor I pick is going to make that much of a difference? Not saying someone could not do better, but I doubt I would have done that much better with different armor. Also the point of my video was to show how to be aggressive with the Revenant, the video in the OP is all wrong.

If the blood dragon armor really sucks, then his video is more compelling, not less. 

If your point is in order to use the Widow effectively you have to be min maxed to the gills and play exactly the right way, whereas anyone with a Revanant can blunder through with ease, you are making the case for the REV, not the Widow.

All those armor bonuses , with the exception of the minor headshot bonus (5 % difference over recon hood), would increase the REVs power just as much.

Verdict:Rev

Plus, I personally wont be impressed unless I see a Widow *only* playthrough that is compelling as the REV only for extended sequences.  The Widow is great situationally, but it cant be your whole game like the REV can, at least not on insanity, without relying predominantly on squaddies, and greatly slowing down your game.

So does this mean that vanguards are definitely the best class now? Cause there are several of us that cleared this in under 3 minutes.
