What's the best assault rifle for squaddies? Collector or the Vindicator?

I was just wondering what is best for your squadmates, I often use Zaeed and Garrus as my main squad and just looking at the pure DPS on the wiki it appears that the Vindicator is best, but that some people prefer the Collector rifle for the ammo capacity. But squad members have unlimited ammo so the Vindicator would be the best, right?

I prefer Zaeed and Garrus using sniper rifles to be honest but if I had to use an AR for them, I'd take the vindicator.

I tend to give them the geth rifle.

The Collector Rifle was a tad disppointing to be honest. The sound was grating and the weapon was under-powered. The starting AR was stronger, at least it seemed to me to be the case.

The Vindicator can do some serious damage, but I tend to take smg squadies. The Tempest in the hands of your squad-mates is excellent at causing constant powerful damage thanks to its large magazine, and your squad-mates' unnatural accuracy.

The Avenger does indeed have more damage potiential than the Collector, so it's a better gun for your squadmates (who seem to ignore accuracy). The Collector has the strange trait of having medicre accruacy that is CONSTANT no matter how long your fire it. The Avenger starts out better but quickly becomes half as accurate as the Collector. If you fire your AR at longer ranges and for longer periods of time, you may actually get better damage results out of the Collector. If you fire in controlled bursts while letting the guns accuracy recover, the Avenger is a superior weapon.

Once you get the Vindicator, you should always let squadmates use it.  I dislike the Vindicators burst fire mode, so I don't use it very often.

If the squaddie's second weapon is short range (shotgun or SMG) I give 'em the vindicator, if thier alternate weapon is a sniper (I think only garrus falls into this category) he gets the collector rifle. All in all the Vindicator is safer... after the burst sometimes your silly squadmates will actually duck back into cover... if they're unloading hell with the collector or geth rifle, they tend to stay exposed for a godawful long time.

Part of it will come down to play style and difficulty level.

On NG+ Insanity I find that the Vindicator performs better in the hands of a squad member. The burst shot limits the time they will spend out of cover and on NG+ three seconds in the open is death. On lower difficulty the Avenger allows for your squad to lay down impressive suppression against enemies while you move in close to finish off.

The Collector is a good cross between the Vindicator (accuracy) and the Avenger (ammo count) so it works well in the hands of the player, but doesn't really have that 'niche' in the hands of a squad member. If the Geth Rifle did not have that variable fire rate I would prefer it over the Collector, using the Collector feels dirty.
