I think Sandal is awesome and a great addition to the game.

DAO started very dark and depressing and, safe for the soap opera that is the camp, continues to be so throughout the game. Sandal is a great escape from that.

I thought the placement of him as a last second vendor for potions and stuff was a good idea. He adds a nice mystery, but I seriously hope Bioware never comes up with some silly explanation. For me that would ruin the character. I hope he reappears in major expansions like Awekening and maybe Dragon Age 2 when it's time for that, but I hope he will simply make appearances like he had in this one. The strange lyrium added dwarf boy who, witha glowing face, will shout ENCHANTMENT!
