According to my crude testing, you do get the flanking bonus (44% hit rate non-flanking, 59% with flanking; rogue archer with attack 80 against a level 16 Revenant).

Looking at:
http://social.biowar...hp/Combat_Rules

the flanking bonus is 15 points (Rogue without combat movement), which matches my numbers exactly.

Also try using tons of traps: put them directly under the skeletons before they awake, then start the event and run out of sight so that they have to move.... they will trigger the traps getting high damage

They do use weakness against you. I just finished battling one, and I had weakness in the red box showing that it had been used. It was my team, against it. Nothing else. So it HAD to be the one that cast weakness. When it does its "pull" routine, that's magic too. It always puts it's sword down right before casting. But..I was unable to use mana clash on him. I tried mana drain but couldn't tell if it did anything. They're weak to poisoned weapons.

They're immune to magic often. You have to hit them when they put the sword in the ground.

Yeah I checked today, it's called aura of weakness so I would imagine that it's similar to miasma.

I don't understand how they use magic yet aren't mages. It really bugs me. I guess the demon possesing the corpse could have magic but the body itself doesn't have magic but that is a bit of a stretch.

Does anyone know the lore regarding how they are capable of using magic?

Lol here comes my amatuer attempt at lore! Beware!!

Ahem! What if they are spirits from the fade that possessed corpses? If this "connection" with the Fade is somewhat to that of mages, it could explain their spellcasting ability.

If you've got the PC version, and enough levels in the Survival skill, you can see the levels of hostile creatures on the mini-map.

(The console version may very well have something similar, but I couldn't say since I've only seen the PC version.)

I personally wouldnt use a archer against revs, id use 2 tanks to aggro him have a healer and a mage or rogue, level 12 min preferably 15+

I did one on hard difficulty, didnt take very long, however I havent found the 4th rev to complete the jug armor quest.....annoying theres also a door that i cant unlock in the ruins =/

With the lone Revenants, I always used a pretty straightforward: Wynne, Morrigan, Alastair, and PC warrior. If you set Morrigan and Wynne to use healing spells at <50%, the two tanks are virtually indestructible. I also had both mages use stonefist, it doesn't knock him over, but it causes a lot of damage.

With the larger Revenant battles try and keep the other enemies incapacitated, and never let your tanks leave the big guy alone. The first time I tried the Brecilian Forest ones I got murdered. Going away for a few levels makes a LOT of difference.

I really like the Revenant fights.

Easy yes, boring yes.

FIghts are easy with two mages and two tanks hardly a challenge really.

In Awakenings the Revenants are a joke. They don't seem to scale at all.

My favorite strategy for Revenants is to petrify them, and then throw a Stonefist spell. Even if the Stonefist doesn't shatter them, my melee fighters usually get a lucky hit in that will. Revenant gone without ever getting to hit anyone.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread yet (unless I've missed it) is using hexes. With a Misdirection Hex soon followed by a Death Hex there should be no problem whatsoever.

Without a Mage it's only a question of having a tank able to withstand a Revenant's attacks while other characters hit the Revenant (be wary of mass attacks though). I've also noticed that Revenants didn't like ranged characters much (they use Pull to get them closer) but having ranged characters shooting away at a Revenant is not necessarily a bad option (it may take a while though).

Revenant's use telekinesis to pull you. So give your mages this ability to cast on party member's weapons. When he pulls he will tip is sword to the ground, strike for damage at this point.

you should have got the potions skill, bought a bunch of flasks at camp (hardly takes up backpack space) and went to Varathorn (the elf merchant) and bought a ton of elfroot (hardly takes up space either)... both are cheap too

after Varathorn, I had a good 500-600 lesser health potices that hardly took up backpack space, I select everyone's first tactic to take a potice when <75 health... health was never a problem for me, even in nightmare

Cast the spell combo "Storm of the Century"(Spell Might+Blizzard+Tempest) at the area where they usually spawn before you disturb the wards at the grave cast shimmering shield or spell shield to your mages and anti magic ward for the non mages

within 10-20 seconds they're all dead..... well except for your party
