Mine thus far (in just 2 playthroughs of the trilogy) are always Sarah Shepard -- as a direct homage to Sarah Connor of the "Terminator" universe.
I just felt there was a real sisterhood and kinship between Sarah Connor and who Sarah Shepard would have to be to save the universe and be the superhero she needed to be.

Cate.
Not really unique, she was just blonde and inspired by the beauty of Cate Blanchett.

My current and also first FemShep is called Hannah (I only found out later that Spacer Shep's Mom is called the same, haha). Always loved that name.
And I have two more planned for the future, Ellie and Maxine (might or might not both be named after two awesome female protagonists in gaming
).
But Hannah is/will be my main FemShep.

My Shepard's name is Robin. I liked that it's rather unisex. She wears it well, I think. I don't have a particular reason besides the fact I thought it suited her.
I wish Shepard's first name was at least used in correspondence or something. Also, never got quite used to "I love you, Shepard." ![]()

Indeed. 'Commander <insert unreferenced uniqueness here> Shepard'. I wouldn't have been so bothered if they'd insisted on Jane/John for that reason. The look was unique enough for me.
Oh, and:
Jane.
Verity.
Vanity.
Morag.

urk... necro-ed thread. The mod will probably lock this later, so I'll make it quick.
My first FemShep was named Shierra after GRR Martin's Shiera Seastar, which sounded like my name. I'm a bore.. I know, this was before I found out about Sha'ira and... wtf does the alien courtesan share my real name....). She's an earthborn ruthless but a reformed renegade (complete paragon) and she's a Liaramancer.
Then, I name my next Shepard as Andraste because I intend to sacrifice her. You know.. Herald of Andraste. Currently, she romanced Traynor.
Later, its a Japanese-Welsh Shepard whom I called Aoife. I tried to make her my canon but it didn't work out.
Then my canonShep, Revka "Bethany Amell" Shepard. Another Eurasian. Totally based on Hawke.

I admit that I'm not sure whether I'd like to have the first name given since I like to make multiple characters and give them names according to what I think fits their personality and appearance. Although I can't, of course, then complain about their name not being used in a dialogue, lol. I just thought it would be nice if mail from our friends started with "Hey, (insert first name here) ..." or something. (Dragon Age II did this, actually.) While I'm not a big fan of sweet talk, I think there are plenty of replacements for the name, too. Dragon Age: Origins did this by using friend, kadan, my dear, my love, etc. But, on the other hand, I guess some of those can get quite corny. If nothing works, it can always be just "I love you," instead. But, yeah, I don't know what the ideal solution would be.
Personally, I do like to headcanon that Shepard's love interest calls them their name, though. It seems natural to me. I guess it doesn't bother me crazy much it's not shown in the game. Especially since they have to act professional most of the time.

I could be quite "lucky" I don't have that problem with my current FemShep (she falls for Vega and leads an unhappy life until I headcanon my post-ending stuff, mahaha), but it can really get weird with "Shepard calling" the whole time. I agree 100% here, it does add to the professional side. But like you said I just think it should really be either no name-calling during such scenes, or a nickname would work.
I find it funny though, Vega would be a great candidate for nicknaming during a romance, I find his dialogue and name-calling variations during the Citadel party if you hook up with him quite interesting because it's so Vega-fitting. If you support the hook-up with nickname allowed he of course calls you Lola. If Lola was never allowed then he switches from Commander to Shepard when it's getting serious, haha. This is a little detail, but it really adds to and shows his character quite nicely.

Yea, I sort of 'cheated' in that Liara (in my case) refuses to use Shep's first name until they've sorted out the Reapers, in that she didn't want to take any 'power' away from the name Commander Shepard, Hero of Eden Prime, Saviour of the Citadel, Champion of the Galaxy.
Shep: "When did I get that last one?"
Liara: "Just now."

Malin Shepard was my original name for her and I picked it up from my own science fiction novels where Malin was a half-swedish and half-canadian rear Admiral on her road to Mars.
My first original Shepard was a ruthless soldier, born in space. Then she got some biotic vanguardish updates from Miranda in the second Mass Effect - she really did notice something new when she accidently rushed against a krogan...
She never wanted to be famous and acted nervously in public - never hitted a journalist, though.
Her best friends were childish and skilfull Tali Zorah and the big guy from clan Urdnot. She was a hot readhead with a few scars from the battles, not from the renegade actions. She was tall and a bold woman and always making peace where she could. And oh, she had a weak spot in women, but her secret love Jack made everything so very difficult. That's why she spent so much time with the dancing asaris in Omegas Afterlife.
I miss her so very much.
I also have one male Shepard with great biotic and tech skills, a sentinel Shepard, who has lot in common with Kaidan, headaches, for example (like I have in real life). His name is Bruce and he is such a nice and fine guy, but little bit too stoic in his expressions. ![]()

My first female Shepard was named River, since River is my actual name and it's rad. Like how many have the name River? Pff.
Second female Shepard was Adaline. I think it's just a pretty name.
Third and final fem!shep was Jane. I was just too lazy to change it.

My canon shep's name is May Shepard. She's a paragon colonist sole survivor.
Other names I've used for femsheps: Claire, Diane (both renegades) and regular ol' Jane.
