Definitely better than this "ME-Use kills the universe and the reapers are a control-system of a sentient race".
Last said theory is negating itself, because the reapers introduce the ME-Technology to species who don't have it via the Mass-Relais.
No use in killing a sentient race who never had ME-Technology since they find a mass-relais.

I tend to favor the theory that it's the reapers building a big Mass Effect Relay. Defeating the Reaper vanguard and shutting down their new Mass Effect Relay before more get through is a great way to win the day but leave the Reapers around as a potential threat for future games. Given how ME is selling, I expect the IP to be around for a while (yay!).
That theory is sort of supported by the original Citadel being in the heart of the Serpent Nebula. What if the nebula was created in part by the destruction of the star when the Citadel construction was complete?
I believe the Codex states the nebula's origin is unknown.

Eezo releases dark energy when submitted to electrical current and that dark energy actually is what is used to create and manipulate mass effect fields - eezo more or less is just the "ressource" and "indirect tool". Biotics work exactly the same way because biotic-able people develop eezo nodules in their nervous system which in turn supplies the necessary electrical current for it to work (bio-electricity in that case).swk3000 wrote...
Who got the idea that Biotics are powered by Dark Energy? Last I knew, Biotics was the creation and manipulation of Mass Effect fields, which are made possible by Element Zero. Unless there's a codex entry I need to re-read somewhere, Element Zero is not Dark Energy.

An excerpt from the last link:
"Dark energy is manipulated using the extremely rare material element zero. When subjected to powerful electrical currents, element zero releases dark energy that can be harnessed to create mass effect fields,
effectively raising or lowering the relative mass of all objects within the field. With the eezo nodules and natural electrical impulses in their nervous systems, biotics can generate and wield dark energy biologically, but the effort is physically demanding."

Is the yellowish orange like column going from one end of the galaxy to the other.

As you see the the core of the galaxy is elongated to the edges with a column of systems. That alone cant make it a ring galaxy, since a ring galaxy's core is isolated from its outer systems.
as seen below.

SO while your theory at first waS WOWOWOWOW. made me think alot, the
bases for it are not there. Reapers are going to a spiral galaxy, is
clearly seen in the ending seen.
NOW whether is still the milky way galaxy I duno. Now what is in the
Sun.. is anyone's guess.
SMall relay that could cut their travel time?..... weaponize, on a huge
scale Blackstorm projector type bomb... duno.
