Hi there folks,

seeing all this annoying "LI [insert character of fantasy]" or "I hate Tali" threads popping out in the Mass Effect 2 forums, I'd like Bioware to embed a "report topic" mechanism to sort out spam topics as simply reporting the OP has little chance of success, besides the numerous other users in here you gladly join those pestilences. It really annoys just refreshing the page and seeing at least one new spam thread appearing. One totally can't keep track of interesting topics other than those that you already posted in, which unfortunately vanish in the dephts of the forums unseen and therefore uncommented in a matter of minutes.

This is a copy of my topic in the social.bioware.com Site Help section. The latter is also meant to be the main ground for discussion as I hope it won't be spammed away as nearly as fast.

I'd love to see some comment from Bioware officials upon this matter.

Thank you

I see a "report this topic" link in the OP. Looks like the feature you are asking for already exists.

I don't think you'll have much luck with this for a few reasons - the most important of shich is that they can't even get a search function on these forums. The second reason is that that is what moderators are for. You have a problem, report it to a mod (there is a list at the bottom of the screen) and if they think it should be closed they will close it.

No, the report topic goes to EA and is supposed to be used to report illegal or dangerous activity (child solicitation, drugs or weapon sale, terrorist threats) not to report stuff you just don't like.

^This.

The function I'd like to see would address a mod. Not EA-Support, as I know how dumb these guys work!

Topics get buried when no one replies or stops replying to them.

Uh...

I think just ignoring the spam topics is much quicker than going through the process of reporting threads to EA/Bioware. Implementing that idea would lead to abuse, particularly from those starting the topics to begin with.

Don't like a topic? Simply report it and see if EA/Bioware can take it down!

Besides, who likes a tattle tale to begin with? The best thing to do with those threads is just suck it up, ignore them, and continue to bump the more genuine threads.

To O/P..

Isnt the standard procedure to send a pm to a mod and give them a link to the thread? I understand your problem with spam, but whats wrong with hate threads? If its an actual discussion its fine.

Basically the love threads are more or less spam anyway, only good thing is they tend to keep it all in one thread. If the hate threads were left alone to grow without all the tali lovers or whatever jumping in to hijack them we might get one big thread instead of constant small ones.

Actually IIRC the report topic does go to some of the Mods as was stated on the 'No Spoiler' section when people were posting spoilers.

I would imagine Chris and some of the main official 'Moderators' get them.

Course as was stated when all that kicked off, the other simple thing you could do is send a PM to one of them with the topic linked and why you are reporting it.

I would like to see this function, so that users can quickly and efficiently report topics/posts that are spam, flame-bait, trolling, or just totally inappropriate for the forum in question.

I disagree with some people here, the "report this topic" button does work. It worked for me at least. Just give it a shot and the more people who use it, the better. But I guess some of you have met with varying degrees of success with it?
