Few and far between. Love the game, but I feel like this was a badly skipped on area. Feels like there are only five or six different robes for mages. I'm around level 14 now, and just have not found much -- not nearly comparable to the plethora of armor.

Maybe this has something to do with the mages being feared/hated? :P

Very few and I'm 20 hours in so far. It does seem like mages got the short end of the stick in the clothing department compared to variety of armors.

Well, it's a low magic world. Not that much magicky stuff lying around!

Nothing a mod can't change, of course ;)

Other than Morrigan's robe, the Chasinf armor is as risque as it gets.

Now, I'm not the feller looking for that, but some folks want them risque clothy bits!

Me? I want soem big, heavy robes. With a hood preferable. Knowing I can't get them makes me sad, but eh, I'll live.

It's odd that I get more armor pieces for Shale than for the Mages...

I love the Archon Robe, it looks great on my mage but the stats aren't that great.

Obviously this is a matter of preference, but so far I have not found any nice looking robes for my female mage, and this includes those offered at Thedas' Wonders in Denerim. In fact all of the robes I've seen so far suffer from a distinct lack of variety and range from being rather ugly (starter robes) to simply unimpressive (reaper, archon, etc). The witches robe is almost tolerable, but it has rather weak stats. Morrigan's outfit offers some variety, but I have not found any way to obtain something even remotely similar to it.

Considering that mage robes gain their powers purely from magic enchantment, it would seem extremely plausible that mage robes could have a huge variety as compared to the more tradional armors worn by warriors and rogues where metal or leather pieces are needed to provide their protection benefits.

Considering how cool and varied the warrior and rogue armors look, it's extremely dissapointing to see the mage armors be so limited in appearance. So far this is my only real disappointment in Dragon Age, but it's a rather big one for me as I really dread looking at these awful robes for 100+ hours of gameplay.

(P.S. Will the mod community be able to help fix this?)

I quite like the gold mage robes. They go nice with my mage's skin.

As for light armor, the Dalish light armor is great.

I'm utterly disappointed with the headwear for mages. All the headpieces make you look like a brain-damaged Catholic cardinal.

Modders are just going to reskin existing robes. A majority of the robes in this game are already reskins of probably no more than four actual models. That's what gets me. I do love the idea of the hood not actually being a part of the robe though. I think it's interesting to wear it separately. Some of the more... colorful headwear I'd gladly trade for a floppy mage hat with a pointed top.

Aint you ever played a BW game before?

Each class gets maybe 1 or 2 good robes/armor, and maybe 1or 2 good weapons, and that's it.

And every time you replay, you'll use the exact same items,  cause what else can you use?

From NWN, KOTOR, and now DA:O.  The same exact thing.

(ps. if you're a Mage who aint an elementalist, well too bad for you!  Staffs, robes, guantlets, NOTHING will help you LOL!  Just try finding a single item that enhances an Entropy Mage!)

Yep, I linked several images in that thread of both cloth and metal outfits.

May eventually do a high rez gallery if I can find the time.

I generally create my own clothing for my mages, the outfit worn by my current character looks like the Chasind robes but has a black metallic body instead of the normal brown.

I think there's a gauntlets which enhances Spirit Damage by 20%, Isn't Death Cloud Spirit Damage? :P
Anyway, I agree, Archon Robe is the best-looking robe I've ever seen (never have a chance to buy reaper's vestment though, maybe in my next playthrough)
