So do you ever find any interesting mage robes or clothing?

Nothing a mod can't change, of course

Few and far between. Love the game, but I feel like this was a badly skipped on area. Feels like there are only five or six different robes for mages. I'm around level 14 now, and just have not found much -- not nearly comparable to the plethora of armor.
It's odd that I get more armor pieces for Shale than for the Mages...

Considering that mage robes gain their powers purely from magic enchantment, it would seem extremely plausible that mage robes could have a huge variety as compared to the more tradional armors worn by warriors and rogues where metal or leather pieces are needed to provide their protection benefits.
Considering how cool and varied the warrior and rogue armors look, it's extremely dissapointing to see the mage armors be so limited in appearance. So far this is my only real disappointment in Dragon Age, but it's a rather big one for me as I really dread looking at these awful robes for 100+ hours of gameplay.
(P.S. Will the mod community be able to help fix this?)

As for light armor, the Dalish light armor is great.

Each class gets maybe 1 or 2 good robes/armor, and maybe 1or 2 good weapons, and that's it.
And every time you replay, you'll use the exact same items, cause what else can you use?
From NWN, KOTOR, and now DA:O. The same exact thing.
(ps. if you're a Mage who aint an elementalist, well too bad for you! Staffs, robes, guantlets, NOTHING will help you LOL! Just try finding a single item that enhances an Entropy Mage!)

Yep, I linked several images in that thread of both cloth and metal outfits.
May eventually do a high rez gallery if I can find the time.

Anyway, I agree, Archon Robe is the best-looking robe I've ever seen (never have a chance to buy reaper's vestment though, maybe in my next playthrough)
