So do you ever find any interesting mage robes or clothing?

Yeah, I've found those gauntlets before... So many of the spells though... sleep, nightmare, the hexes, paralysis, curses...
...they aren't actual damage. Not sure how they fall under 'spirit.' Especially since there's an actual spirit line of spells. (I guess "Death Cloud" does spirit damage though)
I'll give it a try I suppose.

1. TAKE ARCANE WARRIOR AND WEAR ALL THOSE COOL ARMOR SETS!
2. OPEN THE TOOLSET AND EDIT THE LOOKS OF ROBES/ARMOR TO YOUR LIKING!
Here's my Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage in customised Wade's Superior Dragonskin armor ( -25% fatigue rocks) and Helm of Honnleath:

Customised Morrigan on the left.
Seriously, this game is the most awesome in terms of RPG looks ever.
Just because you suck at playing the game doesn't mean that there's no equipment available. There's a TON of cool armors, for a VARIETY of playstyles, and with very different looks. So stop your damn whining and learn to play!Grovermancer wrote...
Aint you ever played a BW game before?
Each class gets maybe 1 or 2 good robes/armor, and maybe 1or 2 good weapons, and that's it.
And every time you replay, you'll use the exact same items, cause what else can you use?
From NWN, KOTOR, and now DA:O. The same exact thing.
Oh, and in the BG series there was so much great equipment that a SIX-PERSON PARTY was always equipped in top-notch gear in accordance with DIFFERENT classES, WEAPON SPECIALISATIONS! (of which there was a crapload, not 3 like in DA), different playstyles, and situations! Want fire immunity? Sure, there's an armor for that! Want more stealth? SEVERAL armors! etc. etc.
(ps. if you're a Mage who aint an elementalist, well too bad for you! Staffs, robes, guantlets, NOTHING will help you LOL! Just try finding a single item that enhances an Entropy Mage!)
Just more proof of how much you suck and what a pathetic whiner you are. There are MANY items that enhance Entropy, in particular greatly boosting Spirit damage, including rings, amulets, gloves, staves etc. Learn to play.

For me mage robes are of two types in DA:
1) Ugly bath robes
2) Stripper robes
This is my personal oppinion and will not be changed by flaming. I really didn't like any mage robes in the game what so ever. I expected it to be more BG sort rather than that.
Biggest bummer for me is with light armor. I really like rouges, but its just soooo limited in unique skinns. I hope to be wrong but as I mentioned there were again only two types: dalish and usual. Then there were just different colours.
And why all sword blades are made of similar shape with different handles?
In BG series there were several standard sets that look the same, and unique sets that looked awsome. In DA the only really unique items were heavy armors only
As XBox360 gamer (and same goes for PS3) I am very depandant on official releases.

Well said, was shocked nobody had mentioned the Mekon headgear, what's wrong with a cool looking hoody or some suchNhyt Fahl wrote...
I'm utterly disappointed with the headwear for mages. All the headpieces make you look like a brain-damaged Catholic cardinal.

I am amazed. Haven't you seen ANY of the UNIQUE items in this game? There are like SIX different sword BLADES, FIVE or so different dagger BLADES, as well as various axe, greataxe, maul & mace shapes. You'll never mix Spellweaver with the Keening, or Thorn of the Dead Gods with Varathan's Dar'Misu.

My DEEPEST CONDOLENCES dude. The only thing I can advise you is buy a computer. It will make the game look a LOT better, and give you TONS of additional/custom content.
It's true that without customisation some of the unique armor sets may look a bit bland. I didn't like the model for the Wade's Sup.Dragonskin, which looked just like a regular splintmail armor, only purple. So I opened the toolset and changed the model to an ass-kicking one which I liked. Same with Bergen's Honor, which I customised so it fits with the Dragonbone massive armor like it should.
But even without the Toolset, there are plenly of varied items in the game, for all classes and levels. Thing is, for the coolest ones you've got to work, fulfilling quests. Which is a good approach in an RPG, IMO.

The tevinter mage robes are neither. Not that it's super-awesome-looking or anything, but more of a simple short sheath dress with hairy shoulderpads.

By unique I mean really unique, without having to look very closly for difference. Like elvish daggers and human ones.
XBox360 camera is fix in such a way that you not so often see things close enough to check out its details unless you run on a big screen.
Ohhh.. why do I even explain to you... you will not get it anyway.

Ha, ha, yeah, I don't know how to play. Amusing, since I have about 3X as many acheivements as you do, and I pretty much stopped playing about a week ago.
Oh, and I didn't have to cheat, edit, and alter the game to do it.
Go replay NWN, KOTOR, and now DA: O.
With a particular class, you will almost always end up with the exact same weapons, armor, robes, crystals, headgears, and so on. Cause there aint that much to choose from. There's little variety. You're lucky if you have more than 2 or 3 through an entire game. (now go play hackfest Diablo II -- loot everywhere, the constant chance of getting something better)
So I'll wear the "Black Hand Gauntlets." Cause I have to. Cause there's no other choice.
How many top-notch heavy armors are there in DA? Ones you can realisitically get and use for any length of time, and are the best? Juggernaut, Wade's Dragonbone? What else? Blood Armor if you have it? Legion of the Dead? How many?
How many good bows? There's two, and one requires a certain RP and plot choice. How about Mauls? There's one. How about Mage robes? How about Battle Axes? How about staves, that don't enhance cold damage?
What's more ironic, you're claiming there's a variety of items... yet you admit to editing the damn items in order to wear them!!!
Stop calling others names, and talking about things you know nothing about.
Makes you look like an ass.

The content creator who designed the mage hats should be laughed out of the business. Surrender your copy of 3ds Max and take up truck driving or something.
I don't think anyone will argue with that, I used to think the pointy hats commonly used for wizards were kind of ridiculous but DA:O really takes the prize for totally stupid looking mage hats.

I'm guessing the mage-hats look slightly better on females than males.
On the males, it's utterly humiliating. You better be powerful to wear a hat like that!

Because everything in the trailer looks different than it does in-game. The DA:O advertisement trailers incredibly misleading. They almost border on unethical.

I could not agree more. The male mage robes at least look like robes. My main char is a female mage and I had to make her an Arcane Warrior just to put her in a decent-looking outfit. I have Wynn in First Enchanter Robes, which are at least long robes, but no way I'd put her in a short robe! It would just be indecent! And putting Morrigan in anything other than Morrigan's robes? Or giving her one of those preposterous mage hats? I'm surprised she doesn't try to kill you just for making her look so ridiculous!
