- An option to modify characters girth, particularly around the middle
- Better lighting when selecting eye color, as all the choices look the same
Aside from that I thought it was excellent. Anyone else care to add to the list?

You'd think people living in a world like Thedas would end up with a scar or two.

They are good ideas, dont get me wrong but games arent that far yet that they can take all that into account with interactions.
Heres a few suggestions I have, but only one is something really urgent that I really want to see fixed.
-Beards.
They arent against the jaw completely, making it look like a fake beard. Furthermore the beards look exellent but there just cant be a gap between the face and the beard. I do hope this will be fixed before release or through a patch.
Now, on to less important things that might make good additions still...
-hairstyles.
There is quite some variety, but still I did feel like something was missing. A few more additions could be welcome. Here are some I would want to see:
-long female hair tucked behind the ears. When your character is an elven woman, it might be nice to see the elven ears and have long loose hair as well. I also understand that the lenght of the hair cant be too long because of clipping, but I believe men can have longer hair than women at the moment.
-a longer ponytail for women. This one is a bit personal since not having such a style is stopping me from remaking a character that could fit quite good into the story. All ponytails are short and this one has long hair always in a ponytail.
-short hair shaved at the sides for men. More of a millitairy style without making it too modern. short hair on the top and short shaved hair on the sides. A rather clean cut that could have variations with some patterns for more of a warrior look.
-white hair. Grey hair is nice, but what about white hair? Would be a great addition for mages.
-less healthy colors for hair. There are quite some shades of brown and blonde, but they all look very healthy. Something less colorfull might be better suited for characters of a lower social class.
-balding hair option for male elves removed. This looks very weird on elves, even weirder than a beard would look on them. Maybe it could be replaced with a unique elven haircut to appear in its place.
-more tattoo variation. Many tattoos seem rather symetrical, I would like to see more simple tattoos like just a stripe over the eye for example, or one side of the face completely dyed.
-scars. This was a nice touch in Mass Effect, it would be nice to see this in Dragon Age as well.
-paler skin option. The palest option isnt very pale. Just a little bit lighter without becomeing unrealisticly light could be a nice touch.
-more variation in eye colors. Some look quite similar, perhaps some lighter eye options could be a fine addition?
-choice in starting outfit. Giving us two or three possible options to start with could help establish your character's personality.
-body tattoos. I would find it a bit strange if someone would tattoo their face a lot and have nothing on their body. Usually when someone has a facial tattoo they have several at other places as well.
Thats all for now, I dont mean to critisize the wonderfull character creator, just offering suggestions on how to make it even better.

It would have been nice if you could control the length of hair, or maybe split the top and the back of the hair into different sections (pick the general look of the hair, then add a pony tail, long hair, short hair in the back, etc). Not sure how feasible that would have been but it would have been nice.

SOrry but balding Elves where always in Bioware games, it is more a recent trend that it is removed (since even in LOTR Elves where sometimes portrayed as Bald (Just not in the movie)).
Just because Blizzard and the likes don't allow it doesn't mean it should be removed completly to fit the stereotype of Elf people have of them. I mean we have Beardless Dwarves in DragonAge too

If I could add anything to this list of a character generator requests it would be an option to switch lighting while creating a character.

I think everyone will get a bit of a surprise (in regards to skin tone) once they take their character out into the 'sunlight'. The generation room is rather darkly lit and by yellow saturated torchlight at that.

the lighting is both very warm and very low level. i saw someone complain that their character looked 'washed out' in the avatar, but i suspect this is really a more accurate representation of the colours under white lighting.
i would say my number one problem with the CC is the lighting, i'm worried that i won't know exactly what i'm getting until they step outside in the game. An option to switch between daylight and torchlight would be great, maybe make it look like he's standing inside a roofless ruin to keep it looking like a real place and keep the small 'stage'.

But yeah I totally agree on hairstyles since it is a bit weird that you can have longer hair on male character and also I'm dying for a french braid. Oh and white® teeth

- The nose sliders. When you pull them all all the way to the left, you get a kind of... inverted nose. That doesn't seem physically possible, so the CC should somehow prevent that from happening.
- Strands of hair for dwarfs (and possibly other races) will sometimes pass through the character's forehead. This is also not physically possible, and the hair needs to be adjusted.
- There are hairdos available for men that I think would also look good on women, but there's no way to use them. Specifically I'd like the 7th male hairdo for women as well, since that's what my female character has in Final Fantasy XI.

It is shaped through Neverwinters Nights, LOTR movies, and many other media including elves.
In Oblivion I went as far as going through all areas within the editor to track down all balding elves to give them a full head of hair since it annoyed me that much.
In most media elves are seen as beautifull, Dragon Age seems to not really be an exeption to this, the elves furthermore look very familiar to what was seen in Neverwinter Nights.

I'd like an afro-haircut and an oriental male preset available.
Long hair could be a problem because of intersections with other parts of the model as they animate.
I have no problems with balding elves, if people don't like it because of common elf law in other games and stories just don't use those hair styles.
I agree better lighting for eye color.
I'd like a slider for different teeth, so they aren't all those oddly brown but somehow still complete sets.
However I imagine they've gone gold or are about too so I doubt we will see any of this at least at the time of release.

It's a good idea to adjust gamma to around 0.65 (at least that's my preference) under "Options" in DA menu screen, then you can choose from all the hair/eye/skin colors you never even suspected of existing when trying it on default settings.
I would still like to see a daylight/torchlight switch though, but this is very helpful

Agreed with both. It's a tad odd that men get both of these options yet women don't. I'm very envious of that long hair pulled back behind the ears style with the little braids. I'd also like wavy or curly hairstyles for both genders.Inhuman one wrote...

Dwarven commoners and warriors of any origin could use a scar option to make them look a little rougher yep.-scars. This was a nice touch in Mass Effect, it would be nice to see this in Dragon Age as well.
Agreed here, too. There's a light grey, two medium greys and two dark grays, which I find damn hard to tell apart, or to see whether they're actually meant to be blueish or greenish even with the gamma cranked up. Likewise, more fair hair colors and a proper black wouldn't be bad.-more variation in eye colors. Some look quite similar, perhaps some lighter eye options could be a fine addition?
What I miss the most otherwise is a slider for eyebrow shape. Mouth shape wouldn't be bad either, but since you can do a bit with mouth width and lip size, the lack of that isn't as "glaring" as the lack of more control over the brows.

Look. Height and girth mean they need to remake every one of their cutscenes to take into account all possible combinations of height and girth for each cut scene. Even if they only allowed, say, three sizes for each, that's a huge undertaking.
I would like eyelashes, muscle tone, eyebrow and mouth shape, definitely, though.
