I know DLC items don't get imported into Awakening but isn't Starfang technically half a DLC item and in-game item. Afterall the metorite ore is found without Warden's Keep DLC. It's only needed to craft Starfang. I am a little confused. I woulde to keep my Starfang. Also is there gonna be another metorite encounter to creat Star Metal armor? Most likely crafted by Wade?

from what i've heard, no it will not, base on the fact that the raised level cap and such will make the older weapons less powerful. I suggest arming yourself with topsiders honor or the keening blade if you have them.

I agree, too. My first Warden never let go of Starfang since she recieved it, and even used it to strike down the Archdemon. I'd hate for her to have to lose it, after all of the time that she spent with it...

I hope that some of the new equipment looks cool enough to warrant losing all of my old DLC items...

Yeah but you will get better swords, its no biggy to me. Plus do you really want to see your precious Starfang get obliterated as it will become the essential 'Grey Iron' weapon of Awakening? You dont use your Family Sword for very long either and that was instrumental for me for Killing Howe!

Im sure Bioware have added an even cooler sword to compensate!

I killed the Archdemon so hard, my Starfang exploded. It's ok, I have Ageless as a backup lol.

As it stands right now, no.

If the planned patch works, yes.

Starfang does not get imported. While I know many of you see it as a great and/or powerful weapon (which it is in DA:O), it quicky becomes "out-powered" by new weapons in Awakening.

Still, I'm sure some people will spend a lot of time patching it into Awakening only to come to the same conclusion.

Yer on fire Chris, second post in a row I checked.

I figured it wouldn't be possible based on the DLC comments already made. But it was an interesting thought that the Starmetal might be used for something else, afterall I heard Wade's going to be around and that guy LOVES making things for me... lol.

The meteorite random encounter actually is part of Warden's Keep.

Stafang becoming overpowered. What kind of demonic god weapons are we getting. Sounds awesome.

I guess I will never understand the logic of the dlc items not transfering because the awakening items are much better, but the really crappy origins items do transfer.

You have no idea how giddy that makes me to start stabbing things with weapons that outpower Starfang!

Oghren and I are going to go out on the town with Sigrun and do some epic darkspawn killing! Pitty Leianla won't be around to sing about it.

Unfortunately I think you underestimate Sentimental value by quite a bit. Stats aren't everything.

From what it looks like, it seems the only reason why DLC items are troublesome to import is due to the fact that they are protected (You can't use them in the toolset without unpacking the erfs), unlike other mods that involve custom textures/models.

I still feel obligated to point out that this post hoc reasoning is irrational.  I'm sure all of the DA:O weapons will become "out-powered" in Awakening at some point ... but BioWare arbitrarily chose to rob of us of our most powerful weapons while allowing us to import our level-one starting equipment.

Please stop repeating this argument -- it's internally inconsistent, inherently irrational, and indicates you think that your customers are stupid.

The Q&A, while repeating this argument, at least made an effort to give us an actual reason: "We didn't feel like doing the programming."

Welcome to the new Bioware, where all out effort development wise isn't encouraged.

The Stats don't matter!  They don't figure into it , and you should frankly know better by this point!

Suddenly having specific items removed due to a technical error is immersion breaking, and will detract from what is I'm sure an otherwise brilliant, engaging story.

Giving us a line about stats is basically the inverse of customer service!

So, at the start of Awakenings I end up half naked and unarmed because you guys are too lazy to include some code to activate the DLCs (which we bought and/or rightfully own). That absolutely doesn't make sense and you know it.

Please don't tell me that any future DLCs and patches for DA:O only work with Awakenings.

This!

The Q&A, while repeating this argument, at least made an effort to give us an actual reason: "We didn't feel like doing the programming."

The argument from the QA thread was basically 'it's too expensive to do it immediately'.  While it's probably true that it's outside the current budget, Bioware needs to realize that not living up to reasonable fan expectation is also expensive.  It will cost them both in terms of sales of this expansion and in terms of future dlc, but also in general fan goodwill, in our willingness to trust that the product they put out.

Time will tell if we get the patch hinted of in the QA thread.  I for one am hopeful, but fully intend to delay my purchase until it is available.
