I am disappointed because we were promised an expansion pack in less than three months time and they must have been working on it a few month's prior to the press release so they could have at least done every DLC. They must have at least a few dev's working at the same time so they could distribute the work evenly amongst them. You're working 8 hours a day (minus breaks) they should have had enough time to do a bunch of coding done in 3 days tops.
Just as a note: most game programmers work more than 8 hours a day. Been there and crunch time sucks.
Back to the point of it all. I believe it doesn't matter whether or not DLC items are put in the xpac. I do, however, think Bioware should give us a real reason, and not just some candy coated response.

I would like like a straight-forward answer rather than half-empty statements wrapped in enigma. A simple "My bad, we screwed up. We will try our best to figure this out soon" would actually set my mind at ease.
I would have liked more romance options. Velanna would make a half-decent replacement for Morrigan since her departure for parts unknown.

My only real question/concern is whether I will need to go to my save game and equip non-DLC items before importing, or not. Assuming that I don't use the vanilla warden, I do not want to import my character and end up without equipment where I hadpreviously equipped DLC items. Unless BW can assure me that I will have an opportunity to replace those missing items before I need to use them in-game, then it's no biggie.
Either way, I just want to know what I'm going to have to do to make a succesfull import.

I at least want star metal armor with the same texture as Starfang.
I like the way you think!
Take note Bioware - a set like that (preferably in the Warden Commander armor style), would be awesome! *nudge, nudge, hopeful grin*

It doesn't matter if it is the weakest weapon in DA:O or the strongest....we paid for it and maybe we want to use it...we paid real money for it and can't use it.....sometimes it's not about power or min/maxing it's about RP and having something you 'want'.............this 'expansion' was not well thought-out...
Bioware do you understand the above statement? Obviously not.

On a positive note, maybe the good people at Bioware realized that the direction they were taking with DLCs was terrible and this is their way of wiping the slate clean.

I didn't buy any of the DLCs because they were little more than collections of overpowered items. I think its funny that Bioware is now taking their 1s and 0s back from the people who paid for them. Schadenfreude at its finest.

but the weird thing is that bioware has a split personality because their strategy for ME dlc is great and yet sucks for DA

Even if they don't understand that customers point of view, I can't understand theirs either.
Making a decision like this is like advertising to new game purchasers that the DLC is not really a true part of the game. I know many people will not buy a 30 minute adventure when the items you obtain within it are labeled incompatible with future content. It is a really strange decision to make on a franchise where dev's have stated they plan to support it with DLC for two years. Especially since the game is not old, new purchasers will still be flowing in that are discourage from buying DLC......strange.
For myself, I don't care all that much. I just hope they were smart enough to equip newly starting save games with some sort of decent items when they strip away all the DLC items they are using. Customers should not be required to hoard extra sets of armor and weapons, dig through and load all their save files and try to remember which item is safe to use, and which came from DLCs.
Especially after that one review that says the game tosses you into a couple hour set of fights before you ever get to a camp with a store. The reviewer warned you'd have tp play with naked characters if you didn't micromanage and set up each save to work with the no DLC rule.
