I had to talk my husband into buying the DLC because he didn't think they were worth it. We both play and that means two of everything. So I preordered Awakening for both of us and was looking forward to it until I found out we couldn't take the DLC with us. Needless to say the preorders were cancelled and we won't be buying DLC anymore either. Oh well, we still enjoy Origins and will continue to play it.
That makes no sense.
No sense what so ever.
In fact the DLC whining is just plain old.
It makes sense to make NEW content the focus of the game. Utterly ridiculous all the ****ing and whining going on about it. Especially since this will get patched in two days by a modder.

Awakenings at release: $40 and no DLC
Awakenings in 3-6 months: $20 with DLC
What exactly doesn't make sense.

That post wasn't about value. It was about how the DLC from teh ORIGINAL game made the expansion worth buying.
Makes no sense.

Of course it's about value.
For her, without the DLC, the expansion isn't worth the asking price. Bioware should take heed of this.
I feel similarly, though I'm of a less absolute mindset. I'm content to wait for the patch, or a steep discount in price. Neither may be forthcoming... I'll content myself with other games if so.
You feel otherwise, thats fine... but businesses shouldn't pass up reliable enthusiastic customers if what they want is easily delivered.

Starfang does not get imported. While I know many of you see it as a great and/or powerful weapon (which it is in DA:O), it quicky becomes "out-powered" by new weapons in Awakening.
Still, I'm sure some people will spend a lot of time patching it into Awakening only to come to the same conclusion.
More powerful than Starfang, that sounds great. I think I spotted a 2 hander that looked like it was 2 pronged. Like Soul Calibur.

if Awakenings is an expansion of Origins, doesn't that mean you'd be using the same game files to build it? So..wouldn't that mean you'd have to take the time to like..take the files for it out?

I'm just kinda curious about the whole "You wouldnt use it long, so we got rid of it."

Well it's more like "fixing it is expensive, and you wouldn't use it long if we did". And no, it seems there is a genuine issue with how they built the items for the release day DLC (since RtO items aren't effected).

In contrast to a significant portion of my comments and questions, this question is NOT being asked from an acerbic frame of thought: how does this fit in with what was intended to be a relatively low magic sort of world?

Oh, well that makes more sense then.

I'm actually of a mind that Bioware should experiment with a survival horror computer game for the wii using webcam technology for optional multiplayer.

Star metal is untiered. It's outside of the ranking, making it unique. How are they gonna top Dragonbone, though with Tiers 8 and 9.
If you look at how much longsword and greatsword stats increase at every tier, though, Starmetal's stats continue the pattern of progression perfectly in every category except Strength requirement (which is the same as a tier 7 item). All other parameters are identical to what a tier 8 item would be, assuming the improvement from 7 to 8 is the same as from 6 to 7 (or from any lower level to the next, for that matter).

I guess I should sell my Cousland family sword, since, yknow, it gets outclassed almost immediately.
Sorry, had to throw that one out there.
They really need to upgrade that Cousland family sword. It been in the family since the days of King Calenhad united all of Ferelden that like four centuries ago.

I kinda agree Dragon Age is buggy/uncomplete. Leliana and Zevran romances are somewhat locked, cutscenes were cut out, Wynne and the Blood Mage scenario was cut out, Alistair thinks he's the king at the end no matter what, and alot of other things.
Yes to all. And it's kinda sad.

I recomend Obsidians nobler noble mode it makes the items more epicsh
Also Bioware how about letting us have a weapon where we creat our weapons own legacy. For instance a codex entry saying that THE STICK was used to kill the Archdeoman by the warden, as the kill count rises so does THE STICKs power as well as the codex entry=]
But I guess you would just take it away in the next expansion

I tried different saved games, and still its simply ripped away from my character whenever I start up Awakening.
Is it really that much to ask for Bioware to import things their customers paid for initially? <_<

It's unqiue looking...pretty.
Do you have any pretty items to make up for it? hmmmm????????
I love the color of that sword. I hope they created something even more colorful to takes it's place.

I for one am glad the Wynne/BM scenario is either cut or b0rked. The hysteria over blood magic is a good narrative hook but to actually force the player to decide between a party member or a class specialisation sounds just as game-ruiningly horrible as the Lyrium addiction mechanic that was also mentioned.
