Vigilance is better than Starfang, but you'll never come across it. (Well, not without mods or console commands.) Wade has to make it for you. And like a good chef, he even prepares it to order.

However, perhaps in an ironic assertion of superiority, for some people who don't remove the WK DlC, it takes on its appearance.

Just bought Awakening today. Wish I had read this post first. It took me an hour of importing and reimporting characters to figure out that I wasn't the one messing up. It was intended for me to enter the fray naked without my trusty sword and armor...

LOL!!  Ditto dude!  I couldn't figure out why the hell my character was walking down the path wearing nothing but whitey-tighties and then when the battle started I couldn't figure out why I had a bow as my primary weapon?!?!

okay, to sum up to anyone (like myself) who would have looked at this afterwords. No it doesn't, and they are lying about being "Quickly overpowered" there is only one sword that has greater base strength in the game than starfang, there are two that will have the same, and that is it. It is important because for a dual longsword wielder (such as myself) there is another sword of the same base value that will have some better stats. Although you may have loved it in DA:O, you will just have to get over it and replace it with Vigilance.

I've successfully been able to import all the WK DLC items which include the Warden Commander's armor and Starfang as well as the Blood Armor into Awakening. Of course, I'm playing on the PC so this change won't be possible on consoles. Since this fix worked for Awakening, I assume that it will also work for Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt; yet to test this as my current play-through is just entering Awakening.

The fix involves editting one file - Addins.xml. The problem with this fix is that the Addins.xml file is changed by every DLC and some mods that you install. So, in other words, I cannot simply post my copy of the Addins.xml since I'll have mods/DLC's that not everyone else would have. The fix is quite easy - all you need is an xml file editor (like MS-FrontPage).

I guess I could generate a generic Addins.xml that includes Stone Prisoner, Return to Ostagar, Warden's Keep, Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt. Players would have to re-install any DLC or mods that aren't listed above in order to properly update the Addins.xml file.

I think when I first imported my warden he simply was missing some inventory armor and weapons I jacked from my party chest, and the helmet he was wearing. Otherwise I didn't really "get" people's nudity complaints. But then I did another import and HOLY FUDGE, was I totally in my small clothes. The only person who gets to see me that way is Morrigan. And possibly Flemeth. I mean someone had to have undressed me to patch me up.

Don't worry folks, you can still get Starfang if you make Vigilance.

Its there, but its got a new name. I really hate the fact that i can only get vigilance to look proper by getting rid of the keep dlc (or whatever the work around was)

Does it really matter what it looks like?  The stats are different from Starfang but it is an equivalent sword.  Better than Starfang in some ways because you have some input as to how it is forged.  I wouldn't care if it looked like a feather-duster as long as it killed baddies all the same.

Wasn't this issue fixed with the 1.04 patch?

No, it was not fixed in 1.04 patch. My Vigilence still looks like Starfang in game. I think they had more important bugs to squash other than a simple cosmetic bug.

Starfang does not get imported. While I know many of you see it as a great and/or powerful weapon (which it is in DA:O), it quicky becomes "out-powered" by new weapons in Awakening.

Still, I'm sure some people will spend a lot of time patching it into Awakening only to come to the same conclusion.

after many times playing awakening, i think it is safe to say that whether starfang is out-powered or not (it really isn't) doesn't matter since nightmare difficulty in awakening is like normal in origins.

Yes, there is a mod that does allow Starfang and the WC armor to be imported into Awakening but I've read somewhere that there were complications.

I've managed to do this by simply modifying the addins.xml file (PC only). Already told a few players how to do it and they've verified that it works. The only caveat is that you have to play Dragon Age connected to the DA servers when you start any session. In other words, you have to wait until you get a connection before you can begin to play.
