Or not a power hungry eltist zerger?

I don´t tink that you have to be a power hungry eltist zerger to left out such amazing quests as  "grasp 20 times into a bag to get a poor  record in your quest log and bring 15 A to B, 15 C to D and 15 E to F that will always award you with the same answer."
Well, some people like this. Mostly chinese MMPORG-developers I think. Image IPB

And even if you do, you will hardly get 100 hours out of 20, unless you decide to count all trees in this game.

I don´t think, that Bioware would have fought under the banner of quality such hard if the length of Awakening would be even near to Origins.

Sounds good to me for an RPG expansion, but I dont normally buy expansions so I dont really know what to expect length wise.

I remember paying a similar amount for the original FEAR expansion. Completed that in 4 hours and never really bought expansions since.

Sounds like they just rushed through it to me, so I wouldn;t put much stock in it. Other reviews have said between 20-30 hours.

I don't see why anyone would replay the expansion more than twice. Once as an old, main story warden and once as a new orlesian warden. This game seems to be very detached from the old storyline...I don't see more than a handful of casual references to the player's choice in the main game occurring.

Sounds about ten to fifteen bucks too pricey to me.

Agreed, chop ten dollars off, and I wouldn't complain one bit. I'm more worried about the expense hurting the franchise rather then my pocket though.

That said, it doesn't seem detached at all. Actually it sounds like more will transfer over then in ME2.

I am sorry but that is just a ridiculus statement. ME2 had TWO characters from the first game as playable (both romancable), 3 other characters from ME1 make cameos (one of which gave you several side quests) which means that all but one of the ME1 characters was in ME2 (and the one that died IS referenced in a news report).  In addition several minor charcters from ME1 actually provide you with side quests in ME2,  there many many  other chaarcters that showed up throughout the game that wre people you helped in ME1, the game references your personal quest from ME1, it even references dlc from ME1, and you get a ton of emails from other charcters from ME1 - not to mention the normandy crash site dlc.  To say that more will transfer over from origins to awakenings than ME1 to ME2 is just flat out wrong.  Oh and ME2 takes place TWO YEARS afetr ME1 and has better continuity than awakeings which takes place several months later

Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see since no one really knows the full answer to this right now ;)

I bought it pre-ordered on Amazon for like £15, which is like about 25 bucks. Don't see why people are complaining of the price? It's an expansion.

It's $37 on Amazon. Too much now. Maybe when it drops in the 15-20 range.

Hmm wonder if Amazon UK does free international shipping.. It's about $48 AUD last I checked though the dollar is almost one-for-one again. Still, cheap, considering new games cost about $120 here.

leonia42... I am an Ozzie, too - make sure you have the same regional copy or it may not be compatible with DLC...

I know this is true for consoles.

Otherwise, most of us are stuck with DLC.

Oh... I am currently 180 hrs post Landsmeet, but pre Ostagar.

Probly last me longer than 15 hrs!!

Whoa, including international shipping fee, the game is only $34 AUD from Amazon UK (and just under $30 USD).

Thanks for the thoughts Stoomkal, but I'm only worried about getting the PC version, I don't think there are any region differences to worry about there.

I just don't understand how they can justify all these negatives and add so little..........yet ask us to drop 40 bucks on it. Im gonna do it, but im not happy about it..........its a shame really.

This is why they can charge so much for it.  If you are unhappy and don't agree with the price, don't buy it.  It's the only way the price will ever get adjusted downwards.  If people are willing to pay it, rather than just say screw it, or pirate it, I guess it's priced the right amount.

How many of these stupid threads do we need to go through? I think I personally already ran this horse into the ground. Where was this review anyway?

I'll buy it because I like the world and want to see more of it.

Thats it, end of story, sorry people who rate games in hours played, and think Bioware is jipping you off, but some people just want to see more of the world, and think $40 is a good cost for it, we are not sheep, we are not idiots, and we put enough thought in to it to realize its a good enough deal for us, if you can't respect that, and feel the need to call us out on it, perhaps you should reevaluate your life choices.

I'm actually surprised there is so much angst on these forums over the issue, most video game expansions, even without multiplayer go for $30, and they usually include much less content then we've been promised with Awakening, and we still have a lot of content left to see, characterwise, as well as carryover wise, so I'm kind of curious why people are so up in arms over the length of an -expansion- that has been claimed to be anywhere from 15 hours to 25 hours, when most normal length games these days rarely hit 30 hours. ( I beat Mass Effect 2 in 23 hours, I almost beat Dantes Inferno while I was playtesting it at E3, I beat ME1 in 9 hours.... )

*edit* Its also $30 for British folks on Steam, so if you want, use paypal to give a British friend $30, then have them buy it for you, and send it as a gift, bam $30 Awakening.

This is the first official word on the hours. So it does deserve it's own thread. Much more deserving then plenty of other threads on these forums.

On my first playthrough for Origins, I hardly got past the 25 hour mark myself. 12-15 is fine in my book, especially when I consider how many characters I'll be taking through it.

The price tag doesn't seem too bad, personally. It might be a blatant ripoff if you did some number-crunching, but then again, so are all the existing DLCs and practically everything else on the market these days. It's pretty clear either EA or Bioware wants to milk it for what it's worth. However, we as consumers have countable options to circumvent the associated price-tags, given a little patience. Whether or not you want to wait for the sake of saving a movie-ticket's worth of money is up to you.

Okay, totally pre-ordering my copy off the Amazon UK site. xD

I'm sorry... but 40 bucks for an expansion that only takes about 20 hours as a 'completionist' player, especially with as broke as most people are in this economy, is just not worth it. =/

And I've seen actual feedback from a reviewer who played the game who said it took him 23 hours.
