And nor are any of my npcs...  It's like, the AI is all messed up!  (I even reinstalled to see if could help but without luck).

Well, they seem to attack one time only...  (I'm in the tower by the way...  You know, city elf)

The only way my character hit is if I right click on the monster...  And it hits only ONCE...  Anyone got an idea about what the hell is going on here?

I have the same exact problem. So uninstalling didn't help? Bummer.

I haven't used the patch, but I did install the toolset this morning. I haven't done anything with it though.

I uninstalled it to see if that would fix it, but no dice.

I'm a bout to try to zone out of my current zone, then back in ands ee if that helps.

I can't even change my zone since I'm at the beginning and I can't get out (until I finish the tower!)

They don't even draw their weapons anymore...  And even my older savegames (AI working when I saved then) don't work anymore!  It's like... the enemies aren't detected as enemies anymore...  So weird...

Yeah I'm not amused. When things break without me doing something to break it, I get very annoyed.

I just did a system restore to friday at lunchtime. So I'll see if that helps.

It's strange... Everything seems ok but the "enemy detection" sequenced is like, cut or stopped or blocked or something... I'm annoyed, of course, but the worst is that I can't understand why it did that... I didn't do a thing to it! (hehehe). Even reinstalling the game doesn't work! So where IS the problem? My system? The registry? ... And me who wanted to play this weekend...

I'm right there with you.

Also, can you level up? My PC dinged after 2 kills while i was testing the problem and I can't level up. Clicking the little plus does nothing and clicking from the character sheet does nothing.

BTW system restore didn't help.

I emailed EA tech support and they claim i'll have an answer in 24 hours.

>_> Maybe I will get Borderlands this weekend. To think this game started out so amazing.

Rename your Single Character folder in the save directory. That can help this.

Well, I can't level up... legally (and I won't kill all those monsters one click at a time either) but. you're right, Leveling up doesn't seem to work anymore either... So, I think there's a little bug in the game... By the way, which OS are you using? I'm on WIndows 7 64bit (and it worked great before today!).

And the renaming doesn't work...  I renamed, moved, change, tried a lot of tricks but without luck...

Well i just tried to do the patch, but it didn't fix anything and now I "can't load" the module to start a new game.

So I'm off to fix that.
If this game wasn't so good i would give up now because this is horse****

EDIT: I'm on Vista Home Premium 32-Bit and it worked fine until this morning.

Well, at least now we know it's not because of 7 or of the 64bit...
It's just a little thing but...  :P

Update: I renamed the "Single Player" folder to "SinglePlayer" and it fixed both my new game and the problem we're having.

w00t!

Lol, I bet installing the toolset renames the folder or something.

I made a Dwarven Warrior Royal and everything was fine until I tried to fight in the proving arena. I left clicked on the guy, Bemot I think his name was, but my character just kept dodging and blocking, never attacking. I tried renaming the file "SinglePlayer" but then it just said that I didn't have the "campaign.cif" file, so I renamed "singleplayer.cif" "campaign.cif", but it still said the same thing. I'm going to try to reinstall the game and then play it without installing patch 1.4, see if that works.

I hope it doesn't though, because I really need the latest patch. Without it, the game takes soooo long to load, as long as a few hours just to go from one part of a city to another. I had to restart the game every half-hour just to get it to run on my Ariel Kruden playthrough, but eventually I just got tired of it crashing so much and taking so long to load. If reinstalling it doesn't work, I'm going to really need some help!

You pulled this old thread out of the farthest, deepest hole in the graveyard.  It's no more than dessicated worm dropping after all this time.

Was it a singleton?  I tried my suggestion below, after having already posted it, and had rather limited success, worse luck, but "won't attack" was somewhat better than your chice "doesn't attack".

If you wanted a topic from the archives, you should have (could have, I suppose) ignored the ridiculously awful search that was foisted off on the members here, and use a proper, professional search, but add a site: redirector pointed back into here.  There didn't end up being much useful, after all, sorry about that.

I reinstalled DA:O and it works fine now, I completed the Proving, but now I'm afraid that if I try to patch my game, the issue will pop up again. I don't think I can play DA:O if I keep running into all of the issues I had during my previous playthrough (which I never completed, because I got fed up with all of the long loading screens and constant crashes).

Do you mean patch like the offical Bioware patches, or are you using 3rd party mods?

If you have either Vista or Windows 7, the patch 1.03 introducd instability of the worst sort for a high percentage, certainly not for a majority, but very many nevertheless.  The following patch was no improvement for those people whose systems were affected.  You can more or less "trust" 1.02A as the last decent one, although when avoiding the late patches, you lose access to some of the DLC and the expansion.

I don't have any 3rd party mods installed. I haven't even finished the game, let alone gotten into the modding community. I meant the official Bioware patches. The game was apparently fine until I installed patch 1.4.

I haven't bought any of the DLC as I had no reason to, given my previous experience, and the same goes for the expansion. I will install Patch 1.2A and hope that deals with the worst of the issues. Thank you for your help.

I'd also suggest making sure Windows is up to date. We've seen some issues lately with Vista users who have not updated to SP2

I have the most recent version of Windows 7 Ultimate. I highly doubt that there's anything wrong or out of date with my OS.
