I've done a playthrough with every class now, all of them were fun and interesting with their different play styles which really kept the combat fresh. My only complaint is that the biotic abilities are pretty useless, especially the ones that are designed to simply stun enemies and not kill them. Why does armor stop a person from being pulled with the mean mother that is gravity? I could understand biotic barriers and shields stopping me from throwing someone around thanks to their space magic but why armor which is just pretty much special clothing?

TL:DR version
Armor should not make the enemy immune to throw, pull, shockwave, slam etc.

Anyone remember on the old forums the threads asking why when we use biotics on enemies they go flying around, but when biotics are used on us, we just take a step back?

The new changes to biotics appear to be Biowares way of addressing that. Personally, I kinda like them.

Shepard is so awesome that he has his own gravity field that cancels out the biotics used on him.

I can live with the combat system, I just hope they make it a hell of a great story in ME3

The reason for the player not flying around is simple - prevents them from landing in a location where they can get stuck (and in ME1 there were places you could get stuck and have to reload just by walking in the wrong spot).

But yes, the idea of armor preventing biotic abilities from functioning is nonsensical, and makes biotic classes feel very weak in my Insanity playthrough because by the time I can actually use my biotics on the enemy, the health bar (which goes down really fast ANYWAY) is all they have left.

Shields and barriers preventing biotics makes sense in that they are also mass effect fields that could repel the external gravitational forces acting upon them. Armor makes no sense as a protection, since if I'm throwing something with 1000 newtons of force, an extra layer of armor plating isn't going to prevent that object from being moved at all, when without the armor it would go flying.

Throw, Pull, Shockwave, and other such biotics feel useless in an Insanity playthrough because so many enemies have armor that the only worthwhile biotic ability is Warp or Reave.

i agree with the fact that armor shouldnt get in the way of biotic abilities, but from a gameplay standpoint you would then be able to pull scions, praetorians, direct-controlled collectors, and the like...
