Orlesins are dirty scoundrals. I don't wanna be from Orlais!

This is from a roleplaying, and personal stand point, of course.. I want to see the origin, it should be good, being the only one..

Orlwesians enslaved foreldian, and I hate them.. I don't morally want to make an orlesian charater.. I thorroughly dislike Olais.

Then import your Warden from "foreldian".

Problem solved.

1. You meet how many Orlesians in DAO?

If your basing your opinion on what the Orlesians are like from the history of them invading and occuping Fereldan.....then you must hate Germans, I mean look what they did in the past in the real world....bunch of b******s. Posted ImagePosted Image

2. There is no Origin story for the Orlesian GW, just a general background.......it been mentioned several times already on other topics.

3. You never have to use the Orlesian GW at all, since you can import any of your DAO main characters.

From a roleplaying standpoint, people don't get to choose where they were born. If you feel your country was wrong in what it did, I'm sure you can express that opinion.
Also, there probably wont be an origin story for the Orlesian.

Did you think what the humans did to the elves was right?

Did you hate Leliana too? Or rather, did you hate her because she was Orlesian?

Leliana said she didn't consider herself Orlesian. And compared to the other Orlesians you meet, and Leliana's accounts of the Chevaliers give quite a bad impression. ;)

Orlesians wear nice clothes and Orlais doesn't smell like wet dog. I'm all for being from Orlais.

By "one origin" i meant background, obviously.
You are all taking this too seriously, I am speaking from a ROLEPLAYING standpoint as.. Bluebullets
I am going to play as an Orlesian, because i love Bioware stories, as well as import 5 characters..
I do not like Orlesians, nd they are Bard scoundrals. Thats what I'm saying.. I MORALLY don't want to be from Orlais. ;)

ha. I played elves, and dwarves. Not just humans. Only played one human,

Elven is not a country, either.

From a roleplaying standpoint, your Orlais Warden might think his/her country is great. Or he might completely hate his country of origin and thats why he came to Ferelden.

You're basing your roleplay standpoint off someone else's life and viewpoints.

You don't have to be from Orlais. You can just import your Warden from Ferelden. Even when she or he is dead...

So a group of people that has broadly enslaved another group of people based solely on racial lines is forgivable, but a nation that has occupied another nation (as a good many of ours have most likely done at some point) is not?

The perspective of "dirty scoundrals" would be from a specific character, sounds mostly like a Ferelden character. If you create an Orlesian I imagine they would have a very different perspective.

Your standpoint, from the lore of the game is written from the point of view of Ferelden. If Origins took place in Orlais and you only heard their side of things, you might think Ferelden was evil. The material you educated yourself from is somewhat biased.

I am talking about the perspective of bluebullets, ME, not a ferelden citizen or otherwise.

He's talking about what humans did to elves, not about what Orlesians did to Fereldans.

It certainly isn't out of place for one's character to "dislike" the Orlesians from a roleplaying standpoint. Take a look at Loghain: his attitude toward the Orlesians fit comfortably within the setting.

Maybe you could try to RP an idealistic, self-deprecating Grey Warden, bluebullets. Ideologically, the Grey Wardens swear fealty to no particular race, nation, or religion; they serve the greater good of mankind and are singular in their goal.

In other words, the idealistic Orlesian Grey Warden wouldn't show any particular bias towards furthering the interests of Orlais. Perhaps it would be easier for you to roleplay your character if you regarded him/her as an ex-Orlesian Grey Warden -- i.e. Orlesian by birth, Grey Warden by allegiance -- in much the same manner that many would regard Alistair to be an ex-templar-initiate.

I believe he's talking about the Fereldans......who do have a racial group (Elves) forced to live in ghettos, forced to practice the Fereldans religion and who are treated pretty much the same way the Fereldans were treated when they were occupied by Orlais........basically sub human.

Orlais is of course the centre of power for the Chantry and led the invasion of the Dales, but Fereldan doesn't come out of the genocide of the Elves smelling of roses either........really to have a hatred of the Orlesians, if your RPing a Human Fereldan is understandable.....as an elf, whats the difference between an Orlesian and a Fereldan really, as a Dwarf, who cares about surfacers anyway.

What exactly is the lore behind the Orlesian occupation of Ferelden? I haven't read the books.

I know that initially The Howes themselves supported the Orlesians so I am sure that somewhere it would be possible to have a decenting Cousland or Mage that would have supported the Orlesians. Esspecially if Thomas is in DA:A and that is a chat option.

He'll also have to hate americans.
He'll have to hate nearly every european country, since most of them had colonies at some point, enslaving the local population.
He'll have to hate chinese.
He'll have to hate italians a second time round for being descendants of the roman empire.
He'll have to hate greeks for having Alexander the Great in their history as well as some of the nastier byzantine emperors.
He'll have to hate turks.
The list is huge actually.

The up-side:
He'll have so much hating to do, he wont have time to play Awakening and be bothered by orlesian wardens :P
