Who here is tempted to call his Orlesian Warden Jean Luc Picard? :P

Mine will likely be a dwarf named LePew.

His attempts to romance everyone in a romance free game should be perfect.

Choosing to role play a character or background that you personally find reprehensible is just another one of those nifty challenges the world of RPGs provide.

Or maybe it's just because I was one of those Acting class weirdos growing up.

Having an Orlesian Warden will be fun.

I plan on making my Warden be the most repulsively un-romantic Orlesian ever. He will have no tact, manners, or grace. If I could do it well enough, I'll make him look like a gaunt and creepy old man, just so that he stands out. The citizens will be happy that he is forced to become a Warden, just so that he will leave and never come back (or so they think).

If Blueballs doesn't want to be an Orlesian, then Blueballs should import from a savegame.

You are all miissing my point.. I am posting from a personal moral standpointr, NOT a play-the-game standpoint.. I am making a orlesian warden, and will enjoy it ssue to bioware's awesome stories..

This doesnt mean that I morally hate Orlais (if it wasnt a game, I wooulsn't want to be orlesan)

THIS IS NOT A POST BASJHING BIOWARE, OR THE GAME.. I AM GOING TO IMPORT, AND MAKE A WARDEN FROM ORLAIS. I WAS SPEAKING FROM A THEORETICAL, MORAL, AND RP, LORE STANDPOINT, NOT A GAMING STANDPOINT

Understand it when its in caps?

:)

Not really.....why would you have a moral problem playing as an Warden from Orlais in real life?

You're Orlesian would have had nothing to do with an occupation that happened 30 years before.....unless your RPing a 50-60 year old Orlesian who actually did something to warrant your hatred, which would be interesting to play especially if Loghain's around.

By the same measure having played as a Dwarfen Duster, I could not morally play as a Dwarfen Noble since duster are treated as less than slaves, a dusters would laugh at what the Fereldans complain the Orlesians did to them.

Having played as a Elf (city or dalish), I could not morally play as a Fereldan, since frankly most Fereldans are racist trash from a Elven point of view.

Hating Orlesian in real life is a little weird, do you hate all Germans, Italians and Japanese for their relatives actions in WW2 in real life?

Not completly true. Take Loghain, who, as a boy, was forced to watch while his mother was raped.

Well there is only one way for a Dwafren duster female to make it out of dust town without going to the surface (or joining the Legion).....to get pregnant to a Dwarf with caste (and have a male child). I assume young Dwarfen nobles, warrior castes etc expect to have any duster female they see no question asked and wouldn't be afraid to force the issue. I doubt rapes of duster females are that uncommon, especially since duster females are known to want to have children with males with caste.  Its not shown in the game, but there is no negative effect for a Noble sleeping with castless women, so I dont doubt the warrior castes occasionally go to dust town for a little 'fun'.

It should be noted that dusters have no rights in dwarfen society, so they can be abused, raped, beaten and killed with no official censure what so ever.......they are non-people, lower than beasts to the other dwarfs.

Same is of course true for the City Elves, as they are open to the same abuses from the Fereldans in DAO.....although they are at least allowed to work as servants to the nobilty.

I dont personally have a problem playing as any background in DAO......I just find it strange that you have two abused people with in DAO (duster dwarfs and city elves) and the Orlesians get the hatred....especially since you dont meet a single member of the Orlesian nobilty/military in the game.

Were the Orlesians occupying Fereldan 30 years earlier and right bunch or *bleep* , well yes but the Orlesian's you meet seem to be mainly a bunch of b***es. Posted Image Generally it seems best to avoid marrying one.
