They haven't been retconned. It's a gag, listen to what the Turian says at the end.

He just says that they're ruining the Asari for him.

Yes, the exact line after the human starts questioning if it's mind control or that they look like humans is "Quit ruining Asari for me, okay? There aren't many Turian women on Ilium."
In other words he has his own little fantasy in his head and the others are ruining it.

It's certainly fine by me. I find both Thane and Garrus attractive, and while I don't have any romantic attraction to Tali, I do have a little soft spot for Kal'Reegar.

Sex with a Reaper is probably mind blowing.

If that note Kelly found isn't a forgery, Shepard may not be feeling it.

Ive always disliked the idea of bumping uglies with an alien. It just seems weird to me. I cant even imagine how getting it on with a Turian would work.

Reapers come and screw everyone every 50000 years. They are very experienced.

Heh, Shepard is the James Bond of the ME universe He/She should be able to nail whomever they would like imo. (Of course not without consequences however) So no, I don't find it silly at all. Besides most of these aliens look normal compared to some of the fuzz my buddy ends up taking home at the end of the night from the local club.

No, sir, you are not the only one.
Sex with aliens is a major detachment from science fiction in the direction of Tolkienism.

Seems like a pretty standard space opera trope to me.  I mean, it goes all the way back to seductive Martian princesses or whatever.

This.

I seduced Garrus and laughed out loud when remembering R.E. Burrough's John Carter. Earthling, Martian, what the heck... hey, some of the species in ME do actually bother to breathe different kinds of atmosphere, ya'know.

I hope they do a variation of Forbidden Planet, which would be equally side-splitting. A sexy female girl nurtured only by her father on a secluded rock, strong and smart and strangely under-educated regarding... biology.

edit: spelling

Humanoid shape isn't nearly enough to justify attraction...

Actually, in general yes it is.  There are a few certain characteristics that people (especially males) look for in a figure, whether we know it or not.  Hips, bust, and curves in certain places are really all that we need to set it off.  That's why you can even have just abstract shapes that look like a woman and yet be considered erotic (think those chrome woman shapes on truck mudflaps).

because some of them have three fingers, multi-colored skin, non-human facial features, non-human body features...pretty much everything that makes them aliens as opposed to humans, that's what is undoubtedly unattractive to me.

But to each their own, ne?

Indeed.  For some people the details will break the attraction, but for many others -- I dare say a majority -- it won't.

It's actually implied that you don't have sex with Garrus, where as all of the other romances have at least a kiss, with Garrus the two just stare at each other lovingly. Also, human to other race relationships seem to be perfectly viable. Most of the aliens seem to have the proper *ahem* equipment. And most of the aliens you romance have quite humanoid shapes aside from the three finger thing, which most of the races in the ME universe seem to have anyway. I fail to find it a turn-off, however.

Black and Asian women usually have five fingers and no chicken feet. They also don't have beaks. Aside from that, yes, I am differently attracted to different races. Which does *not* mean I draw any political or pseudoscientific conclusions from that. It's just a fact.

You're telling me the thing you notice first is a chick's hands?  I dated a girl with only one hand once and I didn't notice until we were sitting close together up at the bar talking.  My eyes were all over the obvious places that usually peak the interest of a normal healthy man.  She was a damn nice girl and hot too.

Yes,but they have other differences. At more noticable places like the face.3 fingers or tentacleheads doesnt alienate me.
Black women with thick lips also doesnt alienate me in any way.

This is a bit of a silly topic; it's not like we're really discussing boinking a different species.

The alien LIs in Mass Effect are designed by skilled writers/artists to be "Alien" but still very human in personality and demeanour. I dare say that everyone has met a shy, slightly nerdy lass with a sexy bod (like Tali or Liara in ME1) or an introspective emo bloke like Thane .. and their visual representations in-game are designed to be appropriately masculine/feminine to the human eye.

True but based on Lore from ME1 only Asari makes sense and the reset were simply fan service in my opinion and are far from making sense.

Makes sense, Garrus doesnt even have lips so it would look like he was just eating femshep.

That would be hilarious. Shepard defeats the reapers but gets killed and eaten by her misplaced love for a Turian.  LOL

Asari are the original and most blatant of alien fanservices. And I don't see how they make any more sense than the others, unless you mean the reproductive thing, and even that's BS. Asari don't inherit anything from their "fathers." They're a product of the mother randomizing the second set of her own genes through the melding process. There is no biological incentive to romance an asari whatsoever. So that said, all liasons with asari are recreational in nature. There is no reason other humanoid aliens could not also engage in such recreational activities.

Ain't any sweat off my back if some people have issues with alien love, though. More for me. ;)

Free love man. If the alien is of age, consents, has compatible junk, and doing it won't kill either of you why not go for it?

Love is a funny thing, and sometimes it makes you want to get down with dinosaur looking aliens.

what do you mean by alien fanservices?  second of all it is science fiction so in the lore it makes sense that asari can reproduce with any other species.  It was suggested that they are they only ones in the galaxy hence their reputation as sex objects.  Recreational on the father's part...fine....but makes sense with the lore.  All others don't and were thrown in because of all the "I support Tali etc....threads"
