Evolution doesnt favor anything, not really.

Very true. Evolution is not a linear progression from less complex to more human like. Evolution has species adapt to their environment, or go extinct. What their environment entails is the question. A fish for example, would not benefit from being less suitable in the water, as humans are.

2 people from entirely different backgrounds finding love and happiness against all odds is a standard plot device in countless stories. As long as the aliens don't deviant so far that people can't humanize them then the species won't matter to a large degree and will actually be seen as a hurdle that the couple crossed to"find love".

so no your not the only one, but don't be suprised if you are in the minority.

The hurdle being the epic loyality quest :D

The Garrus one strikes me the most odd....

Quarian,Drell,Asari- not so much. Though I guess that will depend on whats under Tali's hood right?

Though the asari as a species are silly.

I would probably be a lot more attracted to animals if they weren't covered in filth, had similar cultures to mine, and could actually formulate complex linguistic thoughts such that I could form an intellectual connection with them

I'd probably feel bad about scrogging Tali though, having a fever is not pleasant

It wasn't so long ago that the idea of a black man and white woman being together was thought of as unnatural and abhorrent. In some places, they still think that way. I maintain the same stance on the Garrus/Thane/Tali thing that I do in real life; I have to be attracted to the person inside if I am to find the outer shell enticing in any way. "Hot" douchebags are just skeezy douchebags in my eyes, where as someone with a great sense of humour who is well-spoken will always be irresistible to me.

Case in point, Colin Ferrel gives me the heebie-jeebies, but Conan O'Brien gets my heart all aflutter. It's who's inside that counts, and Garrus is my Shepard's most trusted friend and companion, a romance is natural for them. I don't find turians attractive, I find Garrus attractive.

Exactly! Hell, Garrus even says it when you start the romance dialogue with him (roughly paraphrased), "I'm not going to pretend I have some kind of human-fetish, but there's no one in the galaxy I respect more than you." Garrus isn't into humans, he just really likes Shepard, and is willing to deal with the physical issues because of it.

Sex with a Reaper is probably mind blowing.

It's because of silly comments like this all over the place that they got rid of all decent romance characters like Kaidan, Liara and Ash, and substituted them with kitchy, ugly alien fetishes Posted Image like Garrus with the broken bony face or that Thane with his eyes, yak... They also have cheesy dialogues to boot. It felt like the game forced me into a lesbian romance, as Kelly was, probably, the most pleasant thing to date.

Everyone has an idea of how they want their Shepard to be. For me, it is strange that she would want to romance anyone else when she already has Kaiden, granted that the relationship seemed in limbo at the moment. But still, to romance an alien. Hmm, no. The association with Thane is too short. Garrus is the only one with any high probability as he had been with Shepard since ME1. But then, he's more of a comrade-in-arms than a LI.

Given a choice, I would rather have him and Shepard talk about their feelings. It will be love but without the physical intimacy. A bond that goes beyond that, given how much they have gone through together. The same goes with the rest.

The game offers you choices and I am all for choices. If you want to stick to human-human relationships, then by all means do it. You can bet though that the fact that there are more human-alien romances in ME2 than in ME1 is in no small part due to popular request.

It seems Bioware is realizing that the really popular romances are not with one dimensional hunks/bimbos after all and that people can find meaningful romances with all sorts of characters if they have the right personality. I just hope the rest of gaming industry will pick up on it.

I think if anyone saw one of these aliens in real life there would be absolutely no physical attraction. As much as you like thier personality its not enough. Asari are close enough that it would probably work, and the fact that the majority of the sex takes place directly mind to mind, but still even that would probably be off putting for a lot of people.

Turians , Drell, and Quarians, no way. I am not even taking in to consideration the tactile and olfactory senses, who knows what a Turian smells like, if it's anything like a reptile...not pleasant. I can't imagine Tali being too great, living her life locked in a skin tight bio suit.

I did not dig any of these alien choices that were forced upon my FemShep in ME2, as much as I love the characters personalities I just don't care for them as romances. So my two Sheps remain loyal to Kaidan and Liara.

I guess it's nice fantasy for some but I bet it would just be plain gross in real life.

I did not get that impression, since as soon as you start having sex with Liara, not for procreation purposes her eyes go black and you "embrace eternity"

Sex is all in the brain anyway, our genetalia just act as the trigger for the mind.  If the Asari can directly stimulate your mind and nervous system, there would be no need for old fashioned sex.

I know, I'm just saying, given our social history regarding relationships with people from other countries, skin color, or the same sex... I'm just surprised there isn't anyone going around accusing the asari of being succubus abominations stealing away men to increase the ranks of their own race or some such nonsense.

This is almost certainly happening, whether Bioware shows it or not.

Dont get me wrong though, by dangerous i dont mean "STD's", Cross-species disease would be impossible, as far as i know. It's possible alien life wouldn't even HAVE DNA, but would be constructed of something completely unique (DNA is a product of amino acid's, and is inherently unique to Earth-based life). Viruses could enter their body, but not interact with the cells. You'd get a stuffy nose, but nothing more.

Hey, did you know that there's a lot of talk in scientific circles about the abundance of amino acids in space?

Because yeah, they're far from "unique to Earth."  They're a product of chemistry, which works everywhere in the entire universe.

I am pretty positive that you don't have "traditional sex" with an Asari. I mean, they do all of their procreating via direct contact between nervous systems. That would mean that their... bits and peices, would probably not be strictly analogous to humans. They probably birth children out of there, but I'm doubting they'd feel too good sticking something inside that was never intended to be there in the first place. They certainly wouldn't have nerve bundles down there that would make stimulation there especially pleasurable (at least any more than anywhere else would)

I mean, I guess that really depends on your definition of "traditional sex"...

As far as I understood, even brains are nor involved really. Assari procreate themselves and use other species' genetic code simply to randomize their own. Just like asking to give a number between 1 and 100 to feed into an algorithm of crossingover. But the genetic machinery is entirely assari's and no alien genes are "inserted" and "translated" within an assari organism. So it is not even like mating at all.

On the contrary, I suspect that assari can directly invoke feelings of pleasure in minds of other species, which has nothing to do with procreation, but can very vell substitute physical sex, I think. ;)

PS. This is what boys feel watching internet p*rn.

Asari are women, because they don't exist in a universe where there's a real Asari culture where they can actually have evolved without gender roles. They're created by humans to serve as fanservice. They're designed to be female.

Anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you something.

Alien sex is akin to bestiality. Truly sick.
