So far Awakenings is sounding like a "wait and see" for me

The things that I enjoyed so much in Origins are going to be gone from Awakenings. Typical. I'll wait to buy it when it hits the 50% off rack.

Just out of curiosity, what's going to be missing?

Well if a complete stranger isn't going to be buying it, maybe I shouldn't either...

Wow. People are taking the lack of virtual romances hard.

I take 37, 90 EUR (over 50 $) for supposed 12-20 hours of gameplay without romances and without transferring DLC hard.

What about the things that will be in Awakenings that wasnt in Origns?

Maybe you should return Orgins and get 50% back.

Romancable characters? or deep characters with proper, uh, character? Same thing... sort of. Anyway, an expansion is an expansion not a sequel. Of course now that I've typed that I think to the storm of zehir expansion (ahahaha) for nwn2. Damn it.

Eh. Pirate first, buy if it proves itself. Piracy is the new demo!

If I can't see the entire goals and motives of a character in a 30 second trailer, I find them lacking depth too.

I agree it will be a wait and see for me as well. I love origins but an expansion should expand the story not ignore whats come before it. The best part of origins for me was the virtual family created by my characters for my PC's Especially their romantic interests. So I will wait and see as well and probably pick it up at half off sometime next year.

Ok, so no uber powerful game breaking equipment either. Because everyone knows that Awakening comes with no new items for you to use.

I'm in the "I CAN'T F*IN WAIT TO PLAY THIS!" group...

But there is nothing wrong with waiting to see how the game turns out. Infact it's prob the smartest thing to do.

Either $20 or don't buy depending on how badly it retcons the original's endgame.

I will be waiting to see your reaction then because I WANT to be in the I can't F*IN wait to play this game group,  but I am really attatched to Origins and I have a picture of the way things end up for my PC's.  I worry that the expansion that ignores all the NPC love both friends (Leil and ALi), sisters (Morrigan), and lovers (Zev and leil sometimes), will cheapen what I consider a very emotional and engaging story that also happens to be a game I play.  If people with your enthusiasm come out of the game with the same amount of joy then maybe it will be worth it, at least as an Orlais warden or maybea virgin warden, or a psycho warden with no attatchments- heh I do have one of those characters.

for me it's really just a problem of a price, 30$ is the max for me. no DLC items and romance doesn't really bother me. but then again i wouldn't expect a price drop anytime soon since most EA big titles are still 50$ even on Steam

I cancelled my two pre orders (me/wife) in favor of the 'Wait and See' approach myself. Unusual for me, really, but after hearing what's been revealed so far I think it might be best to wait til the reviews are in.

If the price were $20-25 it would easilly be in the impulse buy range. But $40 seems a bit pricey if the game really does turns out to be 10-15 hours without my favorited companions. If at least Dog were there, maybe.

But I'd love nothing more to hear that "I CAN'T F*IN WAIT TO PLAY THIS!" group weren't disappointed.

It's not just that there are a lack of romances, but a lack of continuity, in my feeling. When I left, the character was in a particular place. Traveling with Oghren would probably have been the last thing he would have done.

It's like showing up to your weekly AD&D game and having the DM collect your characters and announce, "Forget everything that you did for the last month and a half. We're continuing the campaign, but THIS is how it's going to be..." and crossing off nearly everything from your character sheet.

Then he says, "You can still play this guy if you want."

Perhaps some of the change has come because David Gaiden is not lead writer this time around. I know that usually buggers up TV shows that I have enjoyed immensely for four seasons then get to the fifth and say, "What is this crap?" *cough*Alias*cough*

Well since my mage told Morrigan to F off at the start and in the end, she made the "Ultimate Sacrifice".  So I look forward to this XP pack.

I noticed a lot of people are not too happy about there being no romantic encounters with companions. I also notice all the folks who played ME2 upset because the romance scenes were boring and uninspired.

I'm kinda thinking Bioware should make a game where that's all you do. lol

I am also in the "I CAN'T F*IN WAIT TO PLAY THIS!" group. The way I see it, the epilogue stretched over years, and then says this would not be the last the world would hear of her. Obviously, at least some of the further adventures would have to occur during the period the epilogue covers. I have gotten so much enjoyment out of DAO, that I am willing to have faith that they haven't disappointed us. If I end up truly disappointed, well, then, I'll know better in the future.

...I'm pretty sure he is lead writer still.
