So far Awakenings is sounding like a "wait and see" for me

Why? This big choice of yours -- and in fact the entire DA:O endgame dilemma -- will simply be nullified. Cheap, cheap, cheap.Tikkidew wrote...
Well since my mage told Morrigan to F off at the start and in the end, she made the "Ultimate Sacrifice". So I look forward to this XP pack.

Correct. Ferret A. Baudoin is the lead designer for the expansion project, and David Gaider is the lead writer.Colenda wrote...
...I'm pretty sure he [Gaider] is lead writer still.

Awe, don't put it like that. I just want to see how Bioware will handle that course of action. Supposedly, there's a statue out there with my characters name on it.

There was supposed to be a statue with my character's name on it, but Ohgren spent all the funds for it on booze

They say that the romances will be aknowledged, even if not active, and that's good enough for me. So long as Alistair gives me a kiss and tells me to come home soon before I run off to save the world again, I shall be a very happy camper, even if I don't get to see him for the rest of the game.
The DLC issue doesn't bother me because it's almost all Warrior stuff, which goes to my companions usually anyway. The thing I care most about is story continuity, which I think they will accomplish satisfactorily.

lol, Awe .. Ohgren. Funny enough, that's something I think he'd actually do. That would be so funny if that were the case.

It's not just that there are a lack of romances, but a lack of continuity, in my feeling. When I left, the character was in a particular place. Traveling with Oghren would probably have been the last thing he would have done.
It's like showing up to your weekly AD&D game and having the DM collect your characters and announce, "Forget everything that you did for the last month and a half. We're continuing the campaign, but THIS is how it's going to be..." and crossing off nearly everything from your character sheet.
Then he says, "You can still play this guy if you want."
exactly its the lack of continuity. I cancelled my pre order as well and will wait to ses the reviews relative to my personal concersn regarding the expansion.

New models too, from what iv seen so far, the'yre just reusing old 1s. Even if they're retextured and given a different name, they'll still be the same to me and that really spoils it for me, part of the point of an rpg is to see your character develop.
Would of been awesome if they'd made origins again, in which you started off travelling with an old companion, and getting to keep that said companion through the game, but I guess not.

Our DM would have gotten a reaction similar to the one for the "rocks fall, everyone dies" scenario. Giving the lack of continuity and retconning of certain endings, we're also waiting on this one.

The things that I enjoyed so much in Origins are going to be gone from Awakenings. Typical. I'll wait to buy it when it hits the 50% off rack.

After 9 to 10 days with no direct answer about the Ultimate Sacrifice and how it will be portrayed, I'm feeling kind of iffy about this. Maybe Bioware will surprise us and "make it all better "
heh

Well if a complete stranger isn't going to be buying it, maybe I shouldn't either...
And we know if someone starts a thread about not buying something, there's no way they'd dare to pick it up anyway.

Ok, so no uber powerful game breaking equipment either. Because everyone knows that Awakening comes with no new items for you to use.
Sarcasm I hope?
I just read that the equipment in Awakenings will quickly exceed any you got in Origins

I agree with most of you here. Finding out the only "favorite" returning character was the dwarf was disappointing. Finding out the connections one made wont count for much in the expansion was also disappointing. As a whole, this is almost as disappointing as blizzards cowardly decision to not bring back the necromancer.

Witch Doctor is soooo the necromancer with darker skin and a different name.
