WOw people are really that bummed about story threads?
Bioware OPENLY stated that you can play "dead is dead" the way the Awake story was built, or IGNORE STORY and import your toon.
If you are complaining about the story for your imported toon, go back and read the FAQ again, take notes this time
So far Awakenings is sounding like a "wait and see" for me

I was interested greatly in this expansion until I found out there's no romance no returning characters save for one and non of your choices mattering 
don't get me wrong it looks good combat still looks great heavy choice (( even if they don't matter) seem to be there still thought about it but with the above reason there that's more then enough for me not to pick up the game
