Hi all,

For this edition of the Dev Question, we are interested in learning about what areas in the world of Thedas you would like to visit in future installments of Dragon Age. Please take a moment to vote in the poll.

As you answer, we'd also like to hear what makes you interested in the area. What do you know of it that would shape your expectations when you visit? Are there landmarks or people you would like to encounter? So please take a moment to comment in this thread in addition to voting in the poll.

It's too difficult! I want to visit them all!

Anyway, in the end I had to go with Tevinter. Reasons? Well, first of all, Mages are my favorite class and the idea of making a Teviter Mage immediately click with me. Then, I want to see the fabled (and unconquered) Minrathous; I want to meddle in its byzantine politics; I want to know their version of what happened with the Magister Lords and the Golden City; I want to see, as Verlaine would say, the Empire at the end of the Decadence.

Antiva would be a close second, and Orlais my third choice. But really, I like them all :D

Voted Antiva. Zevran talked about it so much he made me want to go there :)

Antiva! Descriptions in lore, from Mr. Gaider, and Zevran have all made me exceedingly interested in going there. Besides, a country fairly ruled by an assassin's guild...what's not to love?!

The Tevinter Imperium seems most intertwined in the established history of Thedas and the blights and such, and they ought to also have plenty of curious magical artifacts, so that's why I voted for them.

If I could vote a second time, it'd be Par Vollen or Seheron, because the Qunari culture sounds interesting, and those proverbs and that story about bees gave me the impression that parts of it would be kind of like rural Asia, which would be sufficiently exotic.

I would like to explore the entire world, but if I could only select 2 locations, I would take a deep plot involving Tevinter!!! The simple fact is, throughout DA:O we are fed the importance of Tevinter and its hiostory. Even though we never travel to Tevinter, the game makes it clear that Tevinter is the "birth place" of out current lifstyle. My 2nd choice is Orlais. Why? It is a empire of wealth, beatuy, and cold blooded murder. Orlais is known for finer things, and assians. Why not go there and try your hand?

Well i'm sorry but when Sten started to talk baout the Qunari homeland, i immediately wanted to visit. Perhaps the player visits just as the Qunari are readying themselves for an invasion of Ferelden? Think of all the possible outcomes you could get! Anyway, Par Vollen gets my vote, although i'm sure i'm in the minority...

Tevinter. In real life, I'm a Byzantine history buff. I don't think the Byzantine Empire has ever been done as a fantasy setting in a game. Finally, I'd like to have the new Shale as a companion.

Tevinter Imperium.

They started the Blights, hell, I would love to get their perspective on magic's current day use and the Blight. I wouldn't mind delving even deeper into the lore surrounding the First Blight and their current day reactions and opinions surrounding the decline of their empire.

Tevinter Imperium

Due to the Chantric schism, I think Tevinter would be quite interesting to see as opposed to a country that has the same basic moral and religious outlooks as 90% of Thedas.

Orlais!

Always wanted to go there since meeting Leliana. I would love to see Val Royeaux in all it's glory and meet many of it's residents. Orlesians seem to be quite an interesting folk, to say the least. And if I can travel there with Leliana, the experience would increase thousandfold for me.

Oh, and I would really want to get my hands on few of those scumbag Chevaliers! *Shakes fist*

Orlais. I thought it was really interesting in the game when we found out the the chevaliers there can basically do whatever they want, including raping women at will. With the French overtones, and the recent occupation, I just think the area is ripe for all sorts of cool adversity, reformation and storylines. Plus, there seems to be a large faction of Gray Wardens there. I wonder what they would be like as a group, culturally; how they would interact with a GW from Ferelden: would they discriminate? Would they hold the same sort of entitlement attitude as the Chevaliers? Of course, all the lands described in DA seem interesting, but Orlais seems interesting and sophisticated, and fashionable and artistic and decadent...

Rivain for me.

1) Humans and Elves living in peace.

2) Permanent Qunari Settlement

3) The two major religions are The Natural Order and the Qun (no Andrasdians, so no Chantry)

4) Duncan's mother was from Rivain

How would it be to explore a country that different from Ferelden?

Nevarra

The idea of visiting a country filled with squabbling glory obsessed princes sounds epic!

Nevarran Prince should be an origin!

Orlais. I want to see Val Royeaux and meet a civilization that's more refined then Ferelden's. As for people that I'd like to meet there, Empress Celene I comes first to mind. She made the impression of an interesting individual.

Also, should the old characters be available, I want Loghain with me when visiting Orlais.

I would say the Tevinter Imperium. Aside from the fact I think a predominantly-Orlesian roster of NPCs would drive me batty, I think it could possibly be a very interesting place to visit. It's referenced many times and due to that I'd say that it would be a very good place to go next.

Orlais is something we hear often about , and if you listen to some characters you'll learn a bit about Antiva, Par Vollen (I think), but aside from codex entries most places are very much unknown.

So, Tevinter for me.

Tevinter Imperium.

Considering the history of the nation and its warlike ways, plus the ongoing war with the Qunari there would be more hours of content than a player could consume. Seems like one of the more interesting places to visit as well.

Orlais. Gotta show those Chevalier how a proper knight behaves. Also, shoes. And lamb that isn't so gray (ha! like the Wardens!) and bland.

Literally dont know anything about them, but ill go for anderfal, since iv heard of it being next to Orlais, and from what iv read, it just seems right.

Seems like your following the same plan as TES.

Where can I find out more about each nation?

Tevinter! I want to see something different. There's no Chantry, the mages are respected...they're hated by almost everyone, they're a crumbling empire...so there's no lack of opportunities to create a good story.

No "normal" Chantry, I know about the "Imperial Chantry".
