But what's left of the Tevinter Imperium seems like an anomoly, a mage empire built on the decadence of an elite caste of insanely powerful bloodmages, all of the sudden in shambles in a world that despises and fears them, and has a beloved and incredibly powerful order devoted to .. what else? Hunting and executing blood mages. And with the huge cultural rift between the mage-politicians and the impoverished peasants .. and where does the "Imperial Chantry" fit in? All the intrigue and magic and moral quandaries ...
Tevinter sounds like such a fun place for a legendary hero of Ferelden to find him/herself

Orlais is second. Just because it's the biggest and grandest nation in the world today. Antiva is interesting, but I really think you could see most of what it there in less than one game. *shrugs*

Rivain for me.
1) Humans and Elves living in peace.
2) Permanent Qunari Settlement
3) The two major religions are The Natural Order and the Qun (no Andrasdians, so no Chantry)
4) Duncan's mother was from Rivain
How would it be to explore a country that different from Ferelden?
Well when you put it THAT way...it does sound pretty freaking cool!!

Or the Orlesian Empire one or two ages before DAO - playing a character with an Orlesian perspective would be reminiscent of the perspective of explorers of Britain or France during an exciting age of colonization and enlightenment.

im concered about how lively the next city would be.
I mean, look at Denerim, it looks huge. BUT, it looks freaking DEAD comapred to lets say, Baldur's Gate, Athkatla, and Neverwinter. Denerim just looks like some area with random characters placed in it and does nothing.
Come on Bioware, make future locations look more lively and believable.

But I hope that we will be able to explore in further Addons the whole of Thedas, with every landscape and every corner and hidden cave and, and,.... Glorius times to come, Wardens!
Ferelden itself is just 1/10 of whole Thedas so we could imagine about ten Addons (ahem! gulp)?
I just wished this years ago for a Forgotten-Realms-Setting and i´d like to know if both areas are situated on the same planet. What if? Questions on questions... what lies beyond The Tirashan? Pictures of travelling per ship are coming to mind, like we know from the Might & Magic-Series.
I´m very curious about what´s waiting outthere.....but till then, may Andraste lead your ways!

Baring any of that I would love to see the tevinter imperium. Seeing the mages ruling as they should would be a nice change...

I assume that if the Tevinter Imperium is to be fully explored the game will be set a thousand years before DAO and before Darkspawn even existed - that would be interesting. Kind of like exploring the Roman Empire and its struggle against external threats and internal tension - set among the old gods, mythical creatures, and a pure heaven.
.
This one would be nice.
Aside from that, I'd probably go with the usual suspects: present-time Tevinter, Antiva or Orlais.

Tevinter Imperium.
They started the Blights, hell, I would love to get their perspective on magic's current day use and the Blight. I wouldn't mind delving even deeper into the lore surrounding the First Blight and their current day reactions and opinions surrounding the decline of their empire.

The Tevinter Imperium offers the the player the most chance for discovery of arcane, historical and scientific knowledge, and seeing the Imperial Chantry would be a interesting juxtaposition after getting to know Ferelden. Plus, mages are awesome, and magic is awesome.
I want to learn more about the scientific and magical systems the world of Thedas is built upon. I want to find out exactly what the Fade is, how spirits relate to the living, what the Black City is, and what the Old Gods are, and how they relate to the darkspawn. I want to learn, without so much religious allegory and metaphor getting in the way. Removing the anti-magic bias by hearing the Imperial magisters side of the story would at least provide a different take on the history of the setting.

Then it wouldn't be the Dragon Age. Which would be stupid considering the title of the franchise.Helmets wrote...
