My first choice would probably have to be Tevinter. It would really be cool to see their version of the Chantry, and their government which is ruled by mages... sounds very exciting to me.

My second choice would have to be The Anderfels, and to get to see Weisshaupt Fortress. It seems the Grey Wardens of Weisshaupt are a bit different than the Fereldan and Orlesian ones.

And, finally, if I may, the third choice is Orlais. Seeing monuments like the cathedral in Val Royeax would be fantastic!!!

I'd like to visit them all; no real preference on one.  I've seen the Theadas map with all the countries on it, and I'm sure that they will all be part of future dlc and expansions, and so I'm eager to explore them all and learn about them and the people who live there.

I'm eager to see the Tervinter Imperium.

I'm mainly curious about the Imperium Chantry, and how mages are treated (for instance are they confined in a tower similar to those in other countries), and of course the war between the Imperium and the Qunari.

I voted Seheron  and I too want Qunari as a playable race. :)

I was going to say the Qunari homeland, but then I thought that Rivain would be more interesting as the site of ongoing intermingling of human culture and the qun.

You could also explore Duncan's roots a little there, and there would be a meaningful place for elfish characters as well.

The qunari should definitely be one major focus of the sequel, but the way they fit into Thedas as a whole is a lot more interesting than just a trip to their homeland where they are the norm. A quest that takes you through Par Vollen would be good, but a story rooted in a human kingdom with at least some cultural and historical ties to Ferelden is a better way for the series to progress.

Didn't Duncan move around alot though...mentions of Highever, Orlais and the Free Marches I believe I read. So do we really know where he hailed from exactly..and does his family still exist.

Mysteries yet to be unveiled? And will Duncan's story ever re-emerge?

Having looked at the larger map, a story beginning and centered in Antiva but with major excursions east through Rivain into Par Vollen and west to the Tevinter Imperium seems like it would make a lot of sense -- keep the game centered in a culture that DA:O fans have an existing connection to so that venturing into the exotic still feels exotic.

Tevinter. Definately.

It'd be a nice change to move from Feerelden, which maltreats mages immensely due to the rules made by religious zealots in the chantry, to a place where mages can even have royal status and are revered. Of course, there is the whole enslavement of elves thing I'd have to watch out for.

Tevinter. In real life, I'm a Byzantine history buff. I don't think the Byzantine Empire has ever been done as a fantasy setting in a game. Finally, I'd like to have the new Shale as a companion.

Maybe not a CRPG, but there is this:

Actually, I'm running a play-by-post Rolemaster game myself right now set in a fictionalized version of the Byzantine-controlled part of Italy in 649 AD.

And yes, I 'd like to see Tevinter, too...not that I'd be averse to playing in Orlais or Antiva either.

Oh, and I found another one

I would like to see more of qunari culture, so any land with qunari sounds good to me.

The quick answer is all of the above. I think people just want to play in this world, no matter where we go (so long as its somewhere new).

I did however vote for the Tevinter Imperium. For a number of reasons.

Firstly the name...its the only country that has a suffix, which tells us it is (or was) an empire. So it sounds the most threatening of the countries.

Secondly, always loved the Fall of the Roman Empire movie, which indirectly deals with the rise of Byzantium to which most of us have read is the inspiration for Tevinter.

My guess is that if Dragon Age (not Dragon Age 2) deals with this corner of Thedas then we need to primarily see Orlais and Tevinter roughly in that order from future expansions (assuming 2 more expansions).

Expansion #2: ORLAIS
Expansion #3: TEVINTER IMPERIUM

The problem with the above idea would seem to be the amount of content needed to do any of the above justice. I mean we have seen Awakening is smaller than Origins so if Awakening is a yardstick for the amount of content future expansions will have then would exploring a whole new country be a less satisfying experience if they only have half the (or fewer?) areas to explore (than Ferelden in DAO)?

The second problem with the above idea is the amount of places we'll probably be skipping. I mean I'd love to explore the Dales, Nevarra and all the other countries. But even if you were popping these expansions out every 9 months then it might take us 4-5 years to get to Tevinter.

However, the big puzzle is that of Awakening. From the perspective of exploring more of the "World" Map it only opens up a tiny corner.

So the question becomes will we visit outside of Ferelden before Dragon Age 2? The addition of the Orlesian Grey Warden in Awakening hints that maybe Orlais may be our next port of call...and if so, is the game after Awakening Dragon Age 2 or another expansion.

Interesting dilemma you folks at Bioware have, I am intrigued to see how it all pans out.

If Dragon Age 2 is really hitting next Spring, I don't think we'll see more than short DLC packs for Origins and Awakening before then.

It would be lovely to have character-specific romance expansions -- one with Leliana in Orlais and one with Zevran in Antiva, exploring their pasts a little. They could be quite short, with new character dialogue only for the PC and the romance.

However, I would hope that really new area graphics -- as in new from the ground up, not just rearrangements or tweaks of existing models -- are needed for our first trips into countries outside Ferelden, and I don't think we're going to get that level of work for any expansion prior to DA2, judging from the (nice, but not really new) screenshots we've seen released for Amaranthine and the dwarf city in Awakening.

If this means Orlais is the antagonist nation in DA2, Nevarra has history to suit that, and is well-placed to explore the Imperium to the north as well.

It's not a bad idea as it would allow a new direction while keeping the continuity of Orlais as foreign aggressor and former overlord.

Par Vollen and Anderfalls because they are the most remote locations and surely would require passing through all of the others on the way there... I want to explore the whole world!!!!  Plus I want to find Morrigan and find out whats the deal with that chic and what is she doing with our weird baby.

I am torn 50/50 between Antiva and the Tevinter Imperium. I love Byzantine history IRL, and we could explore the decaying empire but Antiva's city-state feel is also very alluring.

why is this question being asked? Does this mean that we are only limited the single country voted to travel to? If not, I would like to be able to travel to all possible corners of Thedas in future dragon age games.

I'd like to visit Kal Sharok, but I'd enjoy it more if travel through the deep roads involved more actual travel rather than just clicking my selection on a map.

I actually want to walk places.

Tevinter. It sounds like a gritty, somewhat desperate place and could provide a good story with political intrigue (though Orlais could do that as well) and perhaps an uprising by the massive amounts of poor, oppressed people. Maybe even fit the Black Divine in there and an Exalted March.

I want to see Rivain. Why? For once, I'd like to roll a character in a GOOD non-Blizzard fantasy game who looked like me.
