Hm.
I guess I'd like to see Tevinter because it seems completely backwards compared to Ferelden. Either there or the Anderfels.
In the Anderfels I remember someone mentioning that the Wardens have more ruling power than the king. I think that would lead to an interesting story. Perhaps something to do with seizing absolute rule? You could either play for the Wardens goal or the kings., maybe?
But clearly thats just an idea, I'm not even sure if its a good one. Just thought that would be an interesting thing to explore. =) Oh, and Weisshaupt is there too.

I'm going to say Orlais, it would be very interesting to see how they react to feralden & to see the other side of the coin as it were as i only really know them as feralden's enemies and not their country it's self, oh and the shoes!

Was tempted to pick Antiva just to see how soiled & cheap those ****s really are, but Orlais juuust inched it out

Par Vollen or Seheron. I'm sick of the Chantry and bad European accents. I want to learn more about the philosophy of the Qun, I want to feel the threat of being a mage in a culture hostile to magic users.  I want to see the culture that spawned ruthless fighters.

Orlais with Leliana. I'd like to catch up with Marjolaine  and help prove that Leliana was innocent. Also to sort out some of those other unpleasant groups she mentions like the assassins and the chevaliers. Also to see the places she talked about in her dialogue including Val Royaux. Maybe even go look at some shoes for her, lol. :)

I'm sure there would be other adventures too. :)

P.S. I forgot to add: Orlais also because of the possible Morrigan connection. ;)

I'd like to visit Kal Sharok, but I'd enjoy it more if travel through the deep roads involved more actual travel rather than just clicking my selection on a map.
I actually want to walk places.

This is how I'd like to see it too,  more walkable Deep roads tunnels..leading eventually to that mysterious city Kal Sharok.

Well lets face it..I want to visit the whole danged map...think thats within budget Bioware?  hehehe

I would like to travel to the Anderfels simply because that is the most likely place to find out more about the Grey Wardens and The true origins of the Dark Spawn. Would like to see what you Devs come up with for Weisshaupt Fortress. I think it should be huge and gothic. There we can get a true sense of the way Grey Warden view Blood Magic as an orginization. See just how far their "destroy the Darkspawn by any means necessary" mentality really goes.

Of course Orlais is probably the first place to go though. According to the Thedas map I have, you have to travel through Orlais to get out of ferelden by land. So unless you are going to write in a seaport to travel by ship, we are traveling by foot.... though a Grey Warden war ship would be cool too... Dark Spawn are going to learn to build boats sooner or later right. They're not all mindless killing machines.

Hmm, if Morrigan is there maybe it won't suck so much if Orlais is the next place. I still hope it's Par Vollen though. Or Tevinter. Or the Dales.

dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Nevarra

Orlais is the natural choice and I fully expect it or the Tevinter Imperium to win this fight, but I really think Nevarra is by far the most awesome. It has this dark Egyptian/Greek flavor to it.

Codex Entry:

The whole country is filled with artistry, from the statues of heroes
that litter the streets in even the meanest villages to the glittering
golden College of Magi in Cumberland. Perhaps nowhere is more
astonishing than the vast necropolis outside Nevarra City. Unlike most
other followers of Andraste, the Nevarrans do not burn their dead.
Instead, they carefully preserve the bodies and seal them in elaborate
tombs. Some of the wealthiest Nevarrans begin construction of their own
tombs while quite young, and these become incredible palaces, complete
with gardens, bathhouses, and ballrooms, utterly silent, kept only for
the dead.
--From Codex Entry: Nevarra

Points of history from that page:
  • The Pentaghast clan is famous for their dragonhunter heroes of the past; each of whom led a crusade to hunt dragons
to extinction. They were almost successful at this. Granted, the
dragons were a scourge for a very long time, but the Nevarrans hunted
    mostly for dragonbone and glory.
  • In 3:25 Towers, the armies of Orlais and the Tevinter Imperium joined with the Grey Wardens to end the Third Blight. However, the victorious armies proceeded to occupy the territories they had liberated from the darkspawn. Nevarra was taken by Orlais, and only regained independence in 3:65 Towers[4].
  • In 5:37 Exalted,
Tylus, the first Van Markham king of Nevarra, is crowned after having
claimed to be a descendant of Drakon’s son, killed in Cumberland. Being
a hero of the recent Fourth Blight, Tylus is able to stir nationalistic feelings in the western Free Marches
against the growing power of Orlais. He proves his military might by
winning several major battles against the Orlesians, establishing
Nevarra as a new, growing power[5].
  • In 8:70 Blessed,
a war between Nevarra and Orlais over the control of the western hills
around Perendale results in Nevarran victory. However, Orlais proceeds
to sow dissent and rebellion among the locals in Perendale, who resent
    Nevarran rule[6].
  • In 8:99 Blessed, dragons devastate the countrysides in Orlais
and Nevarra, and all attempts to slay them end in disaster. As the
Blessed Age draws to a close, they name the Dragon Age, saying that it
will be an age of violence and upheaval[7].

Orlais and Tevinter Imperium--and Antiva for that matter--we've heard about them, that's the bottom line. I almost picked Orlais as a knee-jerk reaction, because I do think it would be awesome. The more refined and sophisticated society, the pretty shoes, the treachery. And Antiva, for that matter--imagine how they'd react to female fighters! And I love the idea of a city resembling Venice; I know it's probably more a political description than anything physical, but either way it's cool and I'm going to pretend there are canals and boats until I see otherwise. But I think if more people had looked at what I looked at, they might just pick something else.

This poll was a really great idea, but I think it's unintentionally slanted towards the stuff we've heard the most about. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but still. I think if we knew more details about the other regions, the results might be quite different.

Tevinter Imperium... Oblivion was also based on the Byzantine Empire, and people already criticized Oblivion for being too generic, so you'd have to work really hard in order to distinguish a DA game with that as its setting; to make it unique. I respect the fact that DA didn't want to reinvent the wheel... but I think in the future it's good to take some real risks with setting. To just toss out the more typical medieval feel altogether and do something dramatic and rich. That's what I want to see in the future--a DA game that turns the genre upside down not once but twice. I loved the Andraste religion, I loved the plight of the elves, I loved the dwarves, I loved the fact that the mage tower/chantry conflicts and brood mother story made me feel like the darkspawn were way more than just "generic goblin zombie thingies"--I loved basically everything that made me go, "huh, that's new." That challenged my assumptions about the conventions of the genre.

I want DA2 to mystify me. Transcend my expectations. To wow me. To not just be awesome, but to make me feel like we are now exiting conventional fantasy nation territory and entering the kind of stuff I dreamed about when I was a kid. Greek myths, stories about Egypt... those are the things I studied with the most excitement and fascination when I was around 10-12, so that inspiration would be fabulous. Fantastic. Visually and culturally stunning. That's why Nevarra is my choice.

Where I'm going is not as important for me as who I am going to be. I'd really love to continue my Warden's story and even see old companions again (Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 continuity comes to mind). Where this story would take place would be secondary for me.

But as this thread is about locations, I'll stay on-topic instead of ranting.

I voted for Antiva.
Zevran and Ignacio told very interesting tidbits about Antiva City and I think the whole entanglement of the Crows with Antivan nobility and the political tug of war and backstabbing associated with such a situation would be a great base for interesting quests, where the player can choose different sides, switch sides if he thinks it's wise or profitable... and maybe find out along the way that he's been little more than a pawn in a game of political chess.... and then might try to turn the tables...
In short: for me, political intrigue mixed with assassins sounds like fun!

Another thing that interests me about Antiva are the Dalish clans there. Zevran mentions that they are more "feral" (for lack of a better word), this sounds intriguing.

Another reason is, that I play mostly female characters, so I think, that Antiva would be an interesting setting for a heroine (however heroic she might be), seeing that women are seen as frail and delicate beings in their society.

That being said, I chose Antiva, because I had to pick one. There's no country, I would not like to visit.

The broken Dwarven city of Kal-Sharok or Par Vollen.

Both, I feel, would be extremely unique and interesting rather than just more of the same. Orlais, the Anderfels, Antiva, and the Tevinter Empire I think would all end up being incredibly generic and derivative. Not to say that Ferelden isn't, and that I didn't think Ferelden was awesome (it was), but I just think of all the places we've heard about, Kal-Sharok and Par Vollen (or possibly Seheron) would be more intriguing and unique than the others.

I'm torn between two and would like either one.

Orlais is the first
I want to see all the places lelianna talked about; where someone compliments you with one hand and tries to knife you with the other.

The Imperium would be second
A country ruled by mages and at one time the greatest empire in the world.  I imagine them as a Thedis version of Constantinople and the Byzentine empire.

I'd really just like something atypical to the standard European (read: Medieval-ish England) setting. Orlais sounds fun, but it would just be more of the same, I think. I voted for the Tevinter Imperium because I love the "based on crumbling Byzantine Empire" aspect. The TI also seems different enough from Ferelden to bring a new flavor to the game. I've just spent 120 hours in Ferelden, and the setting, while enjoyable, has lost the wow factor purely due to time spent (re)playing. Something that starts from a completely different base than England would be amazingly refreshing.

I'm also quite interested in Nevarra, purely for the art and dead palaces. It's creepy cool! [Wynne has a good post upthread about this.]

Personally, I would like to visit the Anderfels to learn more about the origins of the Wardens and to see Weisshaupt Fortress.
