meh. Were in a post modernist era, and every single concept you've written about has been explored ad-tedium in Sci-Fi. Its not where you get your material from, its where you take it, and Mass Effect 2 takes it far for a game, but compared to real science fiction, or just fiction in general, it treads lightly.

That's always true, for any medium, there is always going to be some form of borrowing or sharing of ideas. I just tend to think Mass Effect does it with far more grace than the others.
