It's not like we know everything about physics. IE Pioneer Anomaly

Also, if you want to debate this series' physics, the Mass Effect itself is completely impossible (according to what we know now), and its the basis of the game.

Replace mass effect fields with "magic" or "lulz" and you get the same thing.

In ME2: The ridiculous notion that Earth size planets can form at the outer edge of a solar system, and even support a dense athmosphere. Impossible due 2 the fact that terrestial planets only form close to the sun for reasons I cba 2 explain (short version: in the beginning of a solar system, there is only dust around the star. The heavier material the dust is made of, the closer it is to the sun. If the material is light, it can be further away from the sun. this is due 2 gravity).

Hell, even if a terrestial planet on the size of earth somehow managed to form in the outer part of the solar system - I don't see how a super cold planet could support an athmosphere (we must also take into account that a planet needs a certain amount of metalls in its core to provide a magnetic field and thus protect its athmosphere). Look at Jupiter's moon Europa. Sure the Sun could be much larger (in terms of mass) and thus emit much more radiation than the sun - but in that case there simply would be more planets around the Sun as well from what I understand. The entire mass of the solar system would increase if the Sun's mass would increase. In ME1 we didn't have such noneseance.

I rarely find myself reading such utter drivel.  After reading these obscenely uninformed descriptions of planet formation, and the conditions necessary to sustain a dense atmosphere-- compounded with the horrendous grammar, I could not continue reading this post.

PLEASE if you are going to take the time to post a wall of text like you did,

1.) KNOW YOUR FACTS. A misguided middle school level of astrophysics knowledge doesn't count.
2.) USE PROPER GRAMMAR PLEASE.  Your misspellings and poor grammar make you seem borderline illiterate.

Anybody who doesn't have a graduate level understanding of astrophysics should not speak on the matter.

Haha, so what? I could jump from my roof and land on my feet no problem, and I weigh 80 kg. I could probably even catch something 80 kg that was falling from my roof without being launched 50 feet across the property.

The forces or work that are actually seen in the game should be like 20+ times greater than the ones listed in the stats. Keep in mind force = mass * acceleration, not velocity, which would make the whole thing make a lot more sense. If we were talking an 80 kg mass moving 10 m/s, that would be something different entirely, but the truth is that in your example it's just 80 kg times acceleration which is 9.8 m/s^2. In other words, when I stand up, I am basically exerting that force that you think is so huge, yet I'm not being launched into the air in comical fashion.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just mis-informed with physics. Re-read what you've been reading on wikipedia. Hint: You are not a mass of 80kg.

Am I a mass less than 1/20 of 80 kg?

By the way my point was not that these added forces wouldn't propel people, just that the degree and way in which it happens in ME 1/2 is absurd (for example, 1200 N lifts causing man-sized objects to float ever so gently in the air like a feather while 400 N "throws" send people across the universe)

My completed undergraduate degree in the subject suffices in determining that what he wrote was utter crap.

Yes, it doesn't take a degree of any kind to see that it was just insanity anyway, haha, as if all systems have to resemble the general specifications of the Sol system

Why critique the game for it's lack of scientific accuracy... when there are aliens running around shooting talking dinosaurs with lasers?

damn white boi, dont rage hard over SCIENCE FICTION

I understand that some science fiction have ridicolously retarded technology in where the main character can destroy entire fleets of warships or crash planets onto one another. But ME2 science isnt really that impossible

Or perhaps it makes more sense with biotics because people's feet are actually being lifted off the ground (well, the being thrown part)

Didn't you make a thread about the instability issues that could come from firing a cannon attached to a hover vehicle?
You should have more input to this thread than a random insult.

Spelling and grammar do not imply inteligence or the lack thereof.

I did, and I did have more to add to the thread initially.

But as I read further and further into the OP's post, the more laden with "nonseance" and what amounted to little more than a diatribe it appeared to me. I had started out agreeing on some points, because, hell, who doesn't find breathing masks and cleavage-bearing catsuits in vacuums ridiculous? I ultimately decided to just leave it at what I thought of the OP, because that's as much as he's going to listen to. It's evident from the very tone set by the opening post.

Agreed, there definitely are many issues with the 'science' in this science-fiction game, but given the pitiful nature of the first post, this certainly isn't the thread to discuss it in.

@RighteousRage

Well, in terms with throw and lift, the degree isn't really that ridiculous. the 900 N from a throw is coming towards you horizontally (assumption for most part >_> haha) where you have little reactionary force. Lift with its 1200 N force is upward, is countered by downward force but is greater and thus gently lifts you up in the air :P Yeah, it's not perfect, but it sure as hell within believability. And excuse the aggressive-ish remarks at you before, drinking at 3:00 pm in the afternoon has once again made me the misinformed one heh

Seriously, quit the bs accusations.  I hate how people constantly feel the need to belittle someone just because they didn't follow the crowd and register.  They don't have to and in case you didn't know it's called innocent until proven guilty.

Accusations? Maybe you forgot that some of these people that didn't register their game admitted that they pirated the game?

In fact, i shouldn't need to prove he is a pirate, he, is the one that needs to prove that he bought the game.

Prove it.

Nuh uh, the burden of proof is on you. You need to prove that he bought the game if you're claiming he actually bought it. I didn't directly call him a pirate, i just simply stated that its funny how some of the whiners are pirates considering that one of them actually admitted to pirating the game on torrents.

TJSolo wrote...
Unless your logic just extends far enough to attacking the person.

Asking him to register the game means i'm attacking him? Hurray for logic.

TJSolo wrote...
Surely you could try to defend or reason some of the points the OP has.

What is the point? His last sentence was a clear indicator he wants this to turn this into a flame war.

TJSolo wrote...
Stop going around making no contributions other than trolls and attacks on people.

So one post telling another guy that he gets enraged over an opinion that differs from his and telling this guy whom i suspect of being a pirate to register the game means i am making absolutely zero contributions and just plain trolling on every single post i made since the day i registered on this website?

In fact, if i am "trolling", just what are you doing exactly? Considering you "attacked" me in the other thread and this?

TJSolo wrote...

No, no, ExarKun, the problem with your comment is that it's a red herring and irrelevant to the topic. Even if he didn't buy the game, does that make any difference about his criticism of it? If he registered it, would you suddenly take the time to respond properly to the post?

Your post was trolling (as is this one, which I'm admitting because trolling this forum is hilarious)

Well if you read his last sentence and the other thread he started, he clearly wants to turn it into a flame war.

The reason i don't bother responding to any of his posts or come up with any kind of defence is because
1) Most of the other members already tore apart his claims(both in this and the last thread)
2)His "criticisms" are just ridiculous and i see no point responding to it
3) His "criticisms" are  basically filled with nonsense as this is just a game.
4) He clearly wants people to troll in this thread.

He was asking for it.

And then of course there's TJSolo that thinks he can police the forum dictating what people can or cannot do.

If you think you are so smart TC, then you should remember that one of the most important rules in science is that neither fact or fiction can be proven 100%, so it's impossible to say that BioWare is all wrong and they screwed everything up, because we really don't know that much when it comes to science.

It is your accusation, your charge.
The law of this land(EA forum so America) is innocent until proven guilty, it is the prosecutors' job to prove guilt.

Or in your case, prove that a poster has an illegal copy of the game.
I for one brought the game new but haven't bothered to register it.
The only reason I registed DAO was for the extra DLC from Journeys.

You and your posts are general attacks, either directly or indirecty against people that don't share your ideas.
That has been the case I have read ever since I joined this board.
I am frankly more tired of your garbage post than I am tired of the ME1 > ME2 posts.

I'm not prosecuting any one, i never made the claim he was a pirate, i just asked him to register his game.  I already stated this in a previous post. Learn to read  my friend.

In fact you were the one that started to make claims therefore in the laws of an argument, the burden of proof is on you. But of course you can't prove that hence you throw the burden of proof to me thus creating a strawman argument and attacking a position i never made.

The only thing i ever said about piracy was this sentence "Funny how its always people that pirate the game that whine the
loudest".
I , in no way accused him of being a pirate, i suspect  him of being a pirate but i did not  call him a pirate. You just assumed i accused him of being a pirate and taking things out of context.  Theres a difference. Maybe you should learn  that there is a difference between suspecting ones a pirate and outright accusing him.

TJSolo wrote...

Its his job to prove he has a legal copy of the game, weather it be a rented copy, borrowed from elsewhere etc etc.

But the question is, why should he? I'm not accusing him of pirating the game though i suspect it. And what would i gain from proving he is a pirate? Let me answer for you: nothing. So why should i bother proving anything when theres nothing to gain?

But then again, how am i suppose to prove something i never even claimed?

TJSolo wrote...

I'm sorry but what ideas? You attacked me first my friend and now you accuse me of posting nothing but personal attacks in every single post i make?

Why don't you prove that? Prove that every single post i made has been an attack to people that don't share my supposed ideas. Oh right, you can't.

Right so you, reading a few of my posts makes you tired. Good for you but does it look like i give a damn of your opinion? If anything you were the one that started to attack me and now you are playing the victim and falsely throwing accusations.
