Dragon Age Origins featured some of the best armor and weapon models in an RPG.  I am curious if any new weapons and armor that will be featured in Awakening will have new models that were not present in Origins?

There hasn't been a clear shot yet, but apparently there's a black set of armor with two(?) scarlet gems encrusted into the breastplate. It looked all kinds of badass from what we were shown.

I sure as hell hope we get at least one more light-armor model. Preferably something loose...

New weapon models for sure.

New armor models? Haven't seen any. Even the black/red armor we've seen is just a recolored texture on top of the standard Orlesian Plate Armor.

Are you kidding? DA:O featured weapon and armour models designed by people who clearly know very little about functional weapons and armour. I mean, it's not as bad as something like WoW, but...

The one bright spot was the 2H weapon animations.

I just want there to be ONE leather armor that looks different.

I'm sort of hoping for more straight-edge greatswords like Yusaris myself. One thing Origins was sorely lacking in was reasonable incentive to use a mace, so if Bioware chose to expand on that it wouldn't be unwise.

That shot looked like Cailan's armor recolored to black with the eyes on the chestpiece glowing. So not really a new model. But did look very nice.

Who'd wear massive armor in real infantry combat? Where is my lance & griffon?

I don't think we played the same game.

I don't have a problem with the armor models, but they certainly weren't even in the top 10 as far as game's go. They were bland and the textures got reused too much.

The majority of the armor was just different colored version of the same model.

The coolest armor in the game, Duncan's, isn't even usable by the player.

I'm really hoping for some diversity in the armors' appearance.

And dude... you really think the helmet models in Dragon Age are top notch? Seriously?!!

I'll never understand the fascination with Duncan's armor. It's like a hobo's breastplate.

The only point that I was trying to make was that I liked the armor and weapon models, and I am wondering if I should expect new ones with the expansion.

We need more rogue armor. I am tired of my rogue looking like a thief when he is supposed to be the commander of the Wardens and the future King Consort.

I'll settle for a mage outfit that doesn't look either chilly or like a bathrobe. A mage hat that doesn't look like a sock would exceed all expectations. Light lacquer armour that isn't brown, grey or black would make me positively giddy.

Agreed.  Some Duncan-like armor would be cool; elaborate yet obviously offering a good form of protection.  I personally would like some sort of hood + cloak too like the assassin's creed guys have with some light plates under it.

I wish the Ancient Elven Armor was a bit better because of this. It really is good-looking armor.

Would be nice, their was only really 6 armours 6 different robes and 6 or so weapons of each set. They were all just retextured, and turned into 12 different armour sets etc.

Part of the reason im becoming skeptical is because we just havnt seen any new shiny models. How can I play an orlesian warden who looks like a ferelden scrub. I 4ght they were elaborate lol.

From the footage so far it's not looking good. Most of the people in the trailer seem to be wearing more recolours. Anyway I'm sure there will be a couple of juicy armor sets available for Awakenings and they'll probably only cost 2.99 extra when you download them from EA's online store.

What I find most depressing though is the lack of good community made armour. DAONexus has been up for months and even that has nothing but recolours and (I believe) there is still no community made or dev released tool for exporting and importing models. If there is one please let me know how to find it!

I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but to me a lot of armor appearances from DAO looked a LOT like the ones from NWN, especially with with the medium/heavy armors. I'm hoping that they'll create some more unique models for armors this time, or at least new new textures. The whole recoloring deal just reminds me of Mass Effect 1, where almost every item just looked the same, except with different tiers and coloring.

I am hoping for a unique armor set but with a unique model to go with it. I hate when the best armor in the game is just a re colour of a default model. I also want a cloak with my armor lol
