Yeah that's also what I wanted! Especially since one of my Sheps was from Mindoir.....

My current is earthborn, but even a trinket from the good ol' days would be nice.... or at least let me display the star of terra..

You can act pretty unhappy. You're forced into the line "I've had enough of this colony" which is a pretty clear indication of "Emotionally, I feel the opposite of great right now". Plus, Joker is the one character in the game who will still be your friend and won't take it personally if you go off on him all the time :P "Just another reminder that I've lost more than time". Cue standing in the mirror in the captains cabin for a while for effect :P

Yeah, he's endured a great deal of mental stress.

People without LI's in ME3 will crack, and there'll be a mini-mission for them to escape an asylum.

I would love to explore Shepard's past more. We were given the opportunity to in ME1, and I half expected to see more about Shepard's past in ME2. Unfortunately, no. It does seem a bit improbable that Shepard wouldn't do some soul-searching on his/her own when no one is around...maybe with tears or with rage.

I love that painting, Matron Adena. So beautiful and powerful.

Agreed. I would love to be able to learn more about Shepard's past. I mean we get to create it so I want to live it completely. If you have family or friends have a picture of them, have dog tags from old soldier friends, have something that connects Shepard to there past somewhere.
That and emotion, Shepard never seems to show any unless you're Renegade and even then it's just rage.

In ME1 maybe. In ME2 they go out of their way to make sure Shep sounds compassionate during Paragon options. Also, have you gone through usihng the middle options? A lot of them are pretty interesting.

i was really expecting some kind of personal reflection, or mini-breakdown in the DARK SECOND ACT.....

sadly, there was more character development for shepard in ME1, so while i would really love to see something like this, its not looking good.

Yes, emotion of any kind would be good. Punching a table/wall, throwing something, crying, or some complex emotion somewhere...
1. Would like picutres of friends/family if Spacer
2. If colonist old pictures of friends/family
3. Warhero display Star of Terra
4. Sole Survivor/Ruthless old dog tags
5. Ability to meet family if Spacer, go to Mindoir for colonist, go to Earth for Earthborn

yeah I know.... I find that Shepard doesn't question his/her death and rebirth as deeply as I wanted to

Hell, I'm still wrapping my mind around it. I'd freak if I died and suddenly woke up in 2012

I don't know about a breakdown but I would like to see Shepard take a little time for him/her self somewhere here, s/he's already been through his/her's entire crews personal histories and helped them with all their emotional baggage. When does Shep get to deal with his/hers?

In ME1 we had side quests relating to the pre-service history, that was a really nice touch I loved those missions they added a lot to Shepard as a character, showed he/she has a past. What I would have liked (and still would) is a mission relating to the psychological profile: sole survivors go back to Akuze and face down what happened to them there, etc. Shepard is the first customizable character we've had in a game that is fully voiced and feels like a real character instead of just our avatar, I want to find out more about this character that we're guiding through all these trials.

Most fictional characters are able to handle more stress and trauma than a real person could normally. Willing suspension of disbelief and all that.

Fictional characters can be put through hell and go on merely troubled when they should be completely unhinged and hysterical.

My Renegade Shepard cracked a long time ago (Akuze) and kept it quiet.

My Paragon femShep was born without the ability to understand doubt or angst.

Though I'm gonna go ahead and paraphrase Tolstoy on this one: All the Sheps who don't snap are kinda the same, but everyone's got their own idea of where Shep's breaking point is, so it'd be hard to put into a game and have people be down with it.

This is the ONE thing in the game I felt was really lacking. My Shepard admitted to Ashley that she is at the very least, mildly spiritual or religious. Dying and coming back to life after two years is a BIG DEAL for someone who ISN'T.. why I wasn't given a serious opportunity to have a real crisis is beyond me. I mean, ugh. Ball has been dropped.

No, just more of a human being, ALLOWED to express his or her emotions in a more realistic sense. Shep is a cyborg, not a robot.

Thing that bothered me is that I took a full paragon ME1 character and made him the biggest jerk in ME2 and none of the people who knew him even commented on it....kinda leaves you wondering...did these people even know me?

I wonder how all of you would suggest this emotional crisis be presented to us?

Remember that quite a few gamers would be quite upset to have an emotional breakdown forced on their character. How do they give us the option to freak out if we want to without forcing it on us?

well.

advancing specific dialog trees with certain characters you bond with is one way.

another way is to have a psychological analyst on board. a real one, not kelly. like the ones they have for PTSD servicemen.

it could be a totally optional character-building thing on the side.

honestly I could see the scene working out where your LI or someone else approaches you and comments you look like something's bothering you/you're a bit off today/etc. The initial response could determine if your Shep lets down his/her walls and gets emotional or if your Shep is actually a brick wall of confidence with no regrets or w/e
