No, I'm positive. I've played the game twice now and, even if you pick "no thanks", ("I'm not looking for that.") the "romance" subtree just picks up where it left off. I.E.: it just assumes you want to do more than just say hello.

You have to say No not interested twice.  I've done it without problems... all that happens afterwards is that she says "Shepard we have talked enough.  Now your just messing around."  She says the same thing that she says to femshep.

I think it's pretty realistic, a man and a woman being "just" friends is a very rare exception. I haven't seen it myself, but im not going to say it's not possible.



So Jack if Jack sees you coming down to here pit and making an effort to talk to her, i wouldn't hold it aganist her that she thinks you want something other than to simply talk and be firends.

She never did that to me. With my FemShep and MaleShep she always said "Shepard, we talked enough, you're just pissing around. No hard feelings but I don't wanna play". I guess you were too much of a dick to her or something.

Forced Romances, look the thread up. You probaply have a romance going on with someone and you dont even know it at this point, and Jack is pissed off because she thinks you are a player. There are no friendship talk in ME2 with opposite sex. Other than couple of exceptions with dedicated dialog launches, all talk will drift towards romance relationship, even neutral-choice ones when it comes to Jack.

Not a terribly unrealistic responce for someone who's life experience is all of 12 years.

I've literally just done this bit, I was aiming to be nice to her without starting a romance.  The upper dialogue wheel option reads 'No thanks. I just want to get to know you' which is kinda perfect for what I want to express, but noooo that's not what comes out of Shep's mouth. He says 'I'm in no hurry. I just want to get to know you Jack.' 'I'm in no hurry' kinda implies that he's interested really so I can see why Jack thinks she's being lead on then dumped. While I appreciate the dialogue wheel can't replicate exactly what Shep says, here (and in some other cases) it literally makes him say a completely different thing to what he (we as the player) meant.

Bioware forced us to mess with Jack if we don't pursue a romance with her.

The middle option on the wheel just said 'No thanks' which I was tempted to reload a save and do but considering both options said 'no thanks' on them, I just thoght the Paragon-y one would be nicer to Jack but still letting her know romance was off the cards.

I've realized that it's kind of true to life, how where two friends who are opposite sexes; one has an attraction to the other and wants romantic involvement, while the other wants to be "just friends". Sometimes a friendship cannot last if there's tension like that.



So now I understand why Jack tells me to go screw the pooch!

LOL - that must have taken a long time and a lot of thought.
Its hard to make any toon that fugly without some serious contemplation in the character builder.... kudos.....!
